This is very useful for someone who just had a knee replacement or a hip replacement since you will usually need to use a walker as you heal after surgery. This is also critical information after knee replacement or hip replacement to prevent falls! Please watch this video so that you are safe at home after surgery, injury or if you regularly use a walker to get around.
    1. Going from sitting to standing.
    - When sitting up out of a chair it is important to avoid leaning forward too much when pushing yourself up.
    2. Going from standing to sitting.
    - When sitting down it is important to make sure the back of your legs are pressed against the seat of the chair before sitting. Make sure to use your arms to help guide you down.
    3. Getting out of bed.
    - When you get out of bed make sure you place your walker on the side of your surgical leg. When getting out of bed if you have been given hip precautions follow these carefully by avoiding bending too much at the hip and using your arms to help swing your surgical leg into sitting.
    4. Getting into bed
    - When getting into bed try and make sure your surgical leg is on the outside. Make sure when you are reversing back into bed that the back of your legs touches the bed and that you can reach the bed with your arms before sitting down.
    5. Step to pattern walking
-You step forward first with your surgical or injured led and move your walker forward slightly while taking pressure off of your leg by using your walker for support follow with the other leg and step directly to your first.
    6. Turning
    - When you turn it is important to avoid turning too sharply. Instead walk in a big circle until you have fully turned around.
