    I agree fully with reverse power creeping.. Or more like it wouldn't really make a change if powercreep would be added into the game, people can still use old characters to beat the hardest content in the game which isn't even that hard 😭😭
    New characters being added shouldn't be progressively getting stronger and stronger, so yeah I agree that there should be a balance and the new characters don't need to be Bennett broken or Ayaka broken
    But I say that the only characters that should be stupidly strong are the archons and probably the next playable harbingers because.. Y'know.. Antagonists, and the archons are quite literally gods
    But yeah, pretty solid video overall ✨💅

    • @SpaceDuck
      @SpaceDuck  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, there's just no point in excessive powercreep. Especially, when the game is already at it's end, in terms of the Spiral Abyss (endgame combat related content). Archons and harbingers being strong do make sense though, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

    I just don’t understand personally the casual player argument like as a casual player you’re set up for success and fun but people who really want to expand in this game are at a blockade because of “anxiety”.

      “reverse powercreep” and “balanced” are two different things.. the title of this vid is referring to making units weaker than already existing or older units at c0. basically the title and what u said in the beginning is a contradiction

    • @SpaceDuck
      @SpaceDuck  Před rokem +1

      @@datpurp9564 Reverse powercreep and balanced aren’t two different things. At least not in this instance, where the prior characters already have a higher baseline than they should in relevance to the Spiral Abyss. On the other hand, powercreep and balanced are two different things. How are you gonna have a balanced character that outdoes the prior character and more? The prior characters are broken, they aren’t balanced. There would be an issue, if these characters couldn’t clear the abyss, but again as mentioned in the video it doesn’t take too much effort to clear the abyss.
      It would be a different story, if HYV actually cared about the veterans in the game and made harder content. As we both know, that’s never going to happen as they’ve given their viewpoint and refuse to oblige to the hardcore players. Either way, this is a 2 year old game pushing towards its 3rd year. Powercreep isn’t going to happen.

    I honestly think Ayato was actually one of their better 5* characters, maybe not purely meta wise, but he was basically the last really versatile DPS we got. With the way Mihoyo is going - kinda trying to lead people to roll a DPS 5* for every element, sb like Ayato is extremely valuable as there basically ain t a 4* you can t effectively run with him.
    Peeps keep putting him into similar places as Cyno, and Itto, not really taking into consideration that Mihoyo is really recently showing the general idea of making bosses that can be only countered by certain elements - and that can be very problematic for anyone without a deep wallet or veteran player with a huge roster. I love my Ayaya and she easily is more meta than Ayato, but I d lie if I said I can use her every abyss especialyl since Sumeru started. On the other hand I really am yet to encounter abyss where one of 10+ team variations of Ayato weren t applicable.

    • @SpaceDuck
      @SpaceDuck  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, Ayato is still a strong unit and his new burgeon comps are really good too. I was just trying to get the point across, comparing the newer characters as a whole with a few exceptions to the older characters in the game. But yes, Ayato is indeed very flexible!

    • @Kunoichi4ever4
      @Kunoichi4ever4 Před rokem

      @@SpaceDuck Yeah I understand dont worry. Just wanted to add this comment as I understand that pull value for certain characters will differ based on your current account so I just wanted to highlight to any newjoiners that in most cases a verstaile DPS will be more valuable for their account than a niche meta DPS..especially since these days u can wait for a rerun of a 5* to complete a specific team for 1+year. Not to mention sniping specific 4*s is also getting a lot harder than at the start.So its a lot easier to just roll for flexible units that wont force you to save primos for months and make you skip characters you actually like just to get characters you need for your DPS. And this comes from a Xiao main - which I d never change the fact I am maining Xiao (coz I actually love hyperinvesting into a character), but I can fully admit that for the amount of resin and primos (as Zhongli was pretty important especially few months back, and now c6 Faruzan basically costs my life) invested into his team I could probs build 2-3 Ayato teams.

    • @SpaceDuck
      @SpaceDuck  Před rokem

      @@Kunoichi4ever4 I totally agree. Versatility is indeed important for new players as it’ll ease the team building aspect of the game. But like you mentioned, it’ll come down to the individual and what they want to prioritize for their account.

    I agree that reverse power creep is good, but at the same time, the game actively incentivizes you to get the new characters by power creep. Idk it's just how this game wants you to get characters and what you can use them for is misaligned? I quit genshin cause once you hit that wall, the games just not as fun anymore cause it's like there's no stakes. I know I can beat everything and I can watch the story online, so it doesn't hold that much appeal anymore. Idk this is basically word salad but I wanted to get this off my chest

    I think Layla is being underestimated everywhere. I use her in my Wanderer team and she shields, while simultaniously applying cryo. Sure, diona can heal. But Layla has a much stronger shield wich is more beneficial for the wanderer. Layla's ult and shield are always on in a Wanderer rotation, and her applying cryo gives the wandere 20% free crit chance on top of his free ascention crit chance %.
    Pair this with a bennet, and you get the Bennet buff, + the 30% attack damage buff on wanderer wich is insane.
    I would also include faruzan in this team.
    Layla and faruzan can hold the favonius sword/favonius bow respectively. This will make sure you will have Faruzan's ult up in every rotation with enough ER built. You don't always need to deal more damage to deal more damage. By having faruzan's ult up more often because you have a second ER giver support makes it so that you have stable 4 character rotations.
    You could also make it into a freeze/exploration comp for the overworld by removing bennet from this team and adding a Barbera/kokomi/xingqui/Yelan. Yes, you will miss damage (or a heal), but you can beat overworld enemies fast anyway and you already have a layla shield.
    I also find Layla to be extremely fun. I love her shield (in co-op aswell, even though it's weaker) and I love how her ult looks, her design. She's also very versatile. She basically gives white particles with her favonius sword and you don't need her on field except to cast her skill and burst because that is how fast her burst regenerates. She can be placed as a 1 cryo in any team. In my mind she is a 4 star Zhongli without the resistance shred. But she can apply a reactable element.

    • @SpaceDuck
      @SpaceDuck  Před rokem

      Yes, Layla can be used with Wanderer for the shield. She has her scenarios, but I was more so referring to an overall rating compared to some of the prior units in the game.
      As you mentioned in the overworld, the enemies are quite easy, so it doesn’t really matter too much. The abyss is not too much different at the same time, granted you put in the effort in building your characters. But yeah, she’s indeed like a lesser version of Zhongli without the resistance shred.

      I agree that bringing up these issues is honestly better than staying silent. At the same time though, I'd love to believe they'll respond eventually, but the truth of the matter is that they most likely won't do crap unless it affects their bottom line

  • @Blizandrio
    @Blizandrio Před rokem

    I agree completely. Every time a new character comes out it’s always compared to other characters of the same element with the same dumb ass question “Does it buff mora than Bennet?” Or “Does it do more dmg than Hutao?” And those questions show a more toxic trait from part of the community. It’s the unconscious idea that new characters SHOULD be more powerful than the old ones and that can’t happen in a game like Genshin that thrives off profit. It’s better to have 5 stars that are balanced than having continuous OP ones. It will completely unbalance the game. Since Eula came out with interruption resistance the community now expects every onfield DPS to have it in their kit even tho that can’t be realistic bc they would be butchering the need for shields. A smart game wouldn’t do that to themselves.

    • @SpaceDuck
      @SpaceDuck  Před rokem

      Lol gonna have people still expecting characters to outperform Bennett in 7.0 at this point. But yeah, balance is key and there's just no need for powercreep in a pretty easy game like Genshin

    I guess that's what riot games avoid that hoyo does which is reverse powercreep... Well I stopped playing league and actually have no idea what's going on with riot community but there were powercreep in it... Which caused so much changes in gameplay ( maybe meta... ) but hoyo is actually not doing that making the game straight direct fulfilling it's role in a classical way like arcade games... But I guess for casual gamers ( myself included ) what makes players play genshin in the first is simply because of how it started... Sure the ending maybe observable... But simply put there is still alot of information to memorize... Right?

    No. Reverse powercreep means the game is getting worse and going backwards. Powercreep is the motor of every live service gacha. It is necessary. There could be cases of agressive powercreep where the banner gap, meta cycle and gacha system are less forgiving, but all gachas must have a way forward to ensure continuity and longevity, to give the players goals to aim for and keep farming for. Genshin is not a casual game, it’s a gacha. Remember that. Play more gachas if you need to learn the basics. Genshin needs endgame content. Genshin needs to move ahead.

    • @SpaceDuck

      Genshin will never have endgame, that’s what you need to understand. They’ve already made their stance, whether you like it or not. I’ve played enough gachas, and powercreep is not needed in a casual game. Why would you need powercreep in a game, where you can beat all of the content with an Amber? Makes no sense whatsoever. Funny thing is the game is still striving without the excessive powercreep in the game, and will most likely continue to strive, until we get a “Genshin killer” that can directly compete with the game.
