My ultimate hope is if they turn the entire queue into a museum/dig site instead of the movie set, that they bring back Brendan in the queue video as the museum curator or lead archeologist, maybe being interviewed on the new mummy exhibit or something that’s just been unearthed. Can still have it be funny, and maybe even redo the Medjai and coffee scenes to have it all work better together lol
I’m not entirely sure what Brendan’s relationship with Comcast/Universal looks like but, given the ‘revival’ he’s had lately and the sheer amount of support he has, it would be really nice to see USO take the extra step to continue including him in the attraction.
New footage with Brendan would be the greatest gift they could give us!

Maybe its just wishful thinking, but if the licensing rights to Marvel expire, maybe Universal can try to renegotiate with Warner Bros like they did 25 years ago and finally bring DC to IOA. Since X-Men was just a ripoff of Doom Patrol, maybe they can get a retheming involving the cast
I had only been to Uni Hollywood and was extremely impressed with the extra show elements of Orlando. The fake ending was my favorite.

I was really hoping we'd hear something about the animatronic imhotep. I've seen videos on reddit that compared his early articulation to how he is now. It would be great to see him restored to his full range of motion!
Although I never fully got the story, I still really appreciate the ride as it was. I hope (against all odds) that they make that part of the story clear in later parts of the queue, rather than removing it all together. The videos and pre-story seem very fun!

Great update! The only drawback seems like moving the queue out requiring a shade structure out front. Hard to imagine that not detracting from the grandeur of the building facade.
Revenge of the Mummy is my favorite ride in Studios. I really wonder what they are going to do with it. I'm hoping the coffee scene at the end is still there as rumors are saying they're getting rid of that and the original ride's theme of it being a film set. I felt like it being a set gave it a found footage-analog horror feel and I loved it.
I hope they keep it because when Brendan is being attacked you can bear him say THAT FEELS GOOD!🤣
I think it’s interesting they chose the mummy to redo when there’s rides in that park that need a refurb much much much more desperately *cough cough supercharged. Even the MIB could use a good refresh cause the alien in the queue was straight up sleeping on the desk rather than moving around when I went. Or if they even wanted to go over to islands of adventure to fix a dated ride there, like the cat in the hat is dying for an overhaul
ET could stand a good refresh as well.
Both MIB and cat in the hat manufacturer has closed down they aren’t able to refurb unless they redo it completely. Mummy has much more of a life span ahead of it. Supercharged is just doomed it’s just a bad ride no sense spilling money into it.

It probably has something to do with the track and launch systems needing replacement. Maintenance on the old system might have gotten too expensive, so the refurbishment got pushed up before other rides.
I rode it in November and I admit it’s gotten quite rough..especially the brake at the end. (Whiplash fr) I don’t think it’s a bad thing, but I do agree very much about ff needing something..anything. Even scrap it and start over?😂 mib and cat are still working ok considering their age, although some fresh paint and tweaking would totally help their overall popularity come back! Even ET could use some refreshers, but with epic being built I don’t see those being a priority for the workers to drop those projects just to come refresh some of the old rides that are technically running ok still. But in the near future universal..please take the minor updates serious as well!!
I love these update videos. I live in New Jersey and can usually only get down to Universal Florida every couple of years or so. It's my entire family's favorite place on earth. Getting to watch these attraction update videos always makes me feel a little bit closer that place. Thank you for these!

I'd fucking riot if they got rid of it tbh. I think they'd have a MASSIVE amount of backlash. It is many peoples favorite ride. It's definitely mine. Now, I haven't been since hagrids opened, and I hear a night time run of that will give mummy a run for it's money... But I guess time will tell, I'll check the refurb of this, and hagrids out early 2023
If the cup of coffee finale and Reggie go away, I will be…deeply upset. Those are some of the most iconic lines!

I’m so happy that Universal is giving Mummy the TLC it needs. It is one of the best Attractions at Studios and is my favorite. I was there for the original opening of Mummy and would love to be there for the reopening.
The fake-out "ending" scene in the room with the fire on the ceiling also kind of ties into the queue story about just being on set rather than in the actual Museum of Antiquities (unless it's re-themed to be a ride inside of the museum? Seems unlikely in the 1920s...). I've always loved our fake-out since none of the other versions of the ride have it so I hope it's not tampered with too much.
I think the fake out ending is more meta than that. It supersedes the hot set theme and is a fake ride ending, admitting you’re at a theme park. It’s like in Nightmare on Elm Street where you wake up from a dream, but Freddy Krueger is still there! You can’t escape Imhotep. Even off the ride!!!
@Theme Park Stop True! But the hot set in the queue gives a much more whimsical or irreverent tone that matches up with the meta aspects of the fake ending. I'm worried that if we go to a more serious or entirely immersive queue story then the tone shift of the fake ending will feel out of place. Which would be a huge bummer since the Mummy movies also play with the balance between reverential horror for the classic film as well as humor!
I agree with theme parks stop. I always thought it was a fourth wall break as it knows it's in a theme park and has a fake unloading station.
The tech for the fake-out ending could certainly use an update (the second half of the ride attendant’s audio didn’t seem to be working anymore, among other things), but I agree that it deserves to stay in one form or another. Maybe update the visuals with CGI and/or other SFX too to make it look more realistic. Or even have a live actor play the fake ride attendant, complete with special effects for when Imhotep (whether another live actor or a CGI stand-in) arrives on the scene and “kills” them.

I have been on this ride SO MANY TIMES. and i honestly never knew about the MedJi or the cup of coffee thing that goes on.. never been in the queue long enough to watch any of the videos.. so for me,, it would make sense to update the whole storyline
I’m down for anything that ensures the longevity of this iconic coaster 🙌 I like the idea of being able to actually explore the Museum of Antiquities in the queue, but I’d be sad if we ended up loosing Brendan Fraser and his iconic “freaking cup of coffee line.”
At the end of him getting his coffee at the end he says while screaming “OH THAT FEELS GOOD”
It was one of my favorite discovery when i was in UniversalStudio in 2016 (sooo longgg ^^)
I've never been on this ride before and i was so frightened the first time, dark ride + high speed...
but then, i'would ride this attraction maybe thrice a day !
It is so fun, thrilling but also smooth, not too brutal.

The Mummy is my dad’s favorite ride, and the first time I rode it he didn’t tell me anything about it. I assumed it would be like a slow moving dark ride lol. I’ve loved it ever since then.
I really hope they don’t change the actual ride too much… personally I’ve never been through the regular queue since I’ve always used express so I didn’t even know about the “hot set” aspects. I think they could do away with that all the way since it doesn’t even relate to the actual ride. This is such a classic and I love the way it still has so many elements from when it opened.
I’ve been riding this ride since it opened and still love the heck out of it! Glad they’re taking the steps to keep it for a good while!
I stand by ditching the "Film Set" portion of the story but I think they should lean further into the original films. I'm hoping they'll shoot some new footage with Brendan Fraser and include Rachel Weisz in a sort of sequel to the films. The museum is exhibiting the book of the dead with Rick and Evelyn overseeing the exhibition. An unsuspecting researcher reads from the book and brings Imhotep back to life setting off the events of the ride. I just hope they can keep some kind of reference to the Coffee ending.

It’s been roughly 22 years since the 1999 Mummy came out, and so I’m not sure how exactly they would go about integrating the original cast considering how much they will have aged by now. If Universal can make it work, though, I am all for it.
@@LittleMissRequiem The original film is set in 1926...so set it in 1948 and have this sort of touring exhibition of artifacts be what Evelyn and Rick have been up to since the events of the 3rd film. All they'd really have to do is mention how about 20 years ago the book was discovered by Dr. Evelyn O'Connell and her husband Rick on a dig in Egypt. Boom, problem solved.

Hope they'll finally get the Imhotep AA working properly. With the refurb last year his head worked for about 2 weeks before not moving again

I agree. I think Universal is looking soley on their bottom line and how the cost of maintanence dips into profits. Spiderman was and still is fun because it was the first but they can get rid of the others at the park.

@@Hammeredveracity there's nothing recent that's been done outside of Harry Potter. A reason for that is because JK has creative control
The ride will reopen either late September or early October. Multiple permits on the city of Orlando website (repairs for tech of ride) say that these permits expire September 12th. That will finish the job and after testing cycles after this, the ride will be back good as new.
Made it on this week! Can’t wait to ride again later this year.

The Mummy Ride is my favorite i just wish the track ride was longer. And honestly I love riding dark in-building roller coaster

There was a song that played during Hulk's original queue video. Its like a grungey techo type beat and its one of those songs that Ive never been able to find the name of but I love so much. By any chance does anyone know what im talking about?

i have NEVER seen the other ride queue videos in all the years i've been going. And I was there circa the original opening! I think i just assumed because I typically rode in single-rider or fast pass, they didn't have those monitors there. I think this ride lacks a proper pre-show, which is usually where you'd get that stuff.

I’m hoping that they make the right part longer. I’ve only been on revenge of the mummy once/a few times. I wrote it for the first time when I went to Universal Orlando back in June 2021 for my graduation trip. I had listened to videos of the ride, but the videos of the ride seemed longer. And when I rode the ride, the ride seem shorter. Like maybe just over a minute or so. It’s still had the regular start. But after that (spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read revenge of the mummy yet) fake ending scene, it was just a straight shot, and then the ride was done. I can’t remember if it was always like that, I don’t think it was. If anyone has written the ride between June 2021 and now, could they please correct me if I’m wrong or not? Or if you do think that the ride was shortened. Regardless, I am going back in January to celebrate 10 years of surviving with brain cancer, so I am interested to see how different the ride will be. Regardless I hope the ride is still the same, and there’s a little bit longer.

When I rode this I was an unfortunate victim of skipping the backstory videos because the line was short enough. It really does set up all of the ride details that confused me a bit. It explains the red hat kid in the beginning and explains what the med-jai even is. The ride is still my favorite, but damn... the story elements being revealed to me a year later is honestly blowing my mind.
I went on this one time several years ago. There was one part of the ride where it came to a very sudden stop and I thought it messed up my back. It didn't but was very uncomfortable. Otherwise the rest of the ride, as I remember, was fun. The Mummy out here in Universal Hollywood is admittedly not as good but is much smoother IMO. I hope they can fix some of the roughness of this ride as I'm hesitant to go on it again. And, it would be nice to have a more immersive queue too.
I was on it on Thursday when I went back on Friday it was closed and had a wall around it
i rode this on january 6th the day before it closed, the ride kept breaking down mid ride it was just very delayed glad the ride is getting updated

Wife and i where legit on it about 2 weeks ago! Went on it so many times i love that ride! It was down for an hour or so when we first got to the park i thought we'd miss our chance, one of my favorites.

My absolute favorite ride as a kid! It would definitely mean a lot to me if I showed up to Orlando one day a few years from now and my childhood favorite is still going. Most of the things I rode 15 years ago have been replaced by now.

are we expecting new ride vehicles as we saw with Hulk? Seems like especially if they are changing the launch mechanism this may be necessary, but I’m not sure.
I don’t think we are getting new track, no one has seen any yet in employee lot, they only thing I can think off is replacing breaks/ fins and magnets along with the control system, the track is in really good shape, the Harsh weather conditions don’t even touch the ride

Well this sucks. I’m going in May, so it won’t be re-opened yet. Luckily, I just went to Universal Orlando for the first time in almost ten years last year, so at least I did get to ride it in the old form.

Yeah I went on it 2 days ago single rider line was empty went on it a few times. I heard the whole attraction and yes storyline is changing up...I'm really believing they are going to Change it to the tom cruise mummy to modernize the ride a bit. Even though it flopped they still use clips of it in hms
Those clips were added to Horror Make Up show before the film came out, and they just haven’t been allocated any budget yet to update the clip package again for the show. There was budget set aside to retheme the Mummy coaster to the new film IF it did well, but it did not. They updated some of the on ride media and the entrance/lockers using some of the budget, but the retheme was cancelled. I think we’re keeping the current theme, even if we lose the queue video. But, we won’t know for sure until it reopens late summer! You never know!

Do you think the mummy ride in Hollywood might be on its last year's? I heard alot of rumors say that ride might get a retheme or possibly tear the building down and getting a new attraction all together. Also I've heard that the ride or area might be for Jurassic world or mario world expansion. You thing this is possible?
I think it’s possible Hollywood could lose Mummy in the next 5 years or so… maybe for something cloned from another park, like Epic Universe perhaps. But rumors keep changing in recent years, so it’s anyone’s guess.

I enjoy the Mummy ride! Both actors had good movies. I’m not keen on the red hat coffee skit. Whatever they ( universal) choose to showcase the movie monologues. They chose something everyone understands & update the tv pixels

The original was fun still. But it did get stuck every once in a while towards the very end. And you just had a delay to wait for it to release again. It was every few runs or so.
They need to keep it so it fits the theming of production central.
I will be a bit sad if they get rid of the end of ride scene with Brendan purely because if you listen close at the end you can head him say 'That feels good!' as he is being attacked
