    As written in the caption, the CAXA had one week of rest and then the engine was turned on. As you can hear, there are no weird or worrisome noises. If there was some failure of the engine or its components, you could hear some knocking just after the engine's start-up for few seconds. Currently the car has 56 000 kilometers of mileage, so not a lot, but it's been about five and a half year since it was manufactured. I will show some updates of the CAXA's life later, in the future. What needs to be added- this engine is perfect for me. It is flexible,

    This is normal, no chain rattle, just the hydrolifters for the valvetrain are dry and it takes a few seconds until the oil reaches up there all the way from the bottom, my 1.2 TSI does the same when it sits there for days or weeks. Nothing to worry about.

    Low oil compression. Oil pressure needs to build up for the rattle to go away. Not a problem in terms of reliability, these engines are designed as such. I did 65 000km in 1 year with a engine that does that, not a days problem. Just ensure you stick to oil checks and services.

      Yes, this sound is normal. From time to time it rattles louder just for few seconds, but mostly it starts up like in this video. I know that this is caused by the hydraulic tensioner. I don't bother with this. Currently I have to exchange the water pump, because it's leaking :/ I've ordered new one (original) in my VW dealer and it will be replaced on next saturday.

    Honestly, my Touran (1.4 TSI BMY, 103 kW / 140 HP) does some "knocking" or "clicking" sounds as well. It's not the timing chain, because it would "saw" inside it's box on the left side if it was that. That same knocking like yours has come ever since I bought the car 10 months ago and it never changed, except when it's getting very cold ( -5°C ~ -10°C), it's beating more loudly. Seems to be normal though...

    How can we simply understand the condition of the engine, does it give an idea to remove the oil filler cap or dipstick?

      No, since the beginning only water pump failed (coolant leakage). I repleaced it with the new one and it's ok.

    Hi, I have a golf tsi 122hp year 2009. Changed the water pump just like you, changed the chain at 100,000km, now it has 123,000km, and for about 20 days the distribution has started making noise again. At the time I mounted the original volkswagen kit. Then I have another problem: the engine light flashing, and the EPC light and engine protection if I'm too much with the engine idling. Response: third cylinder out of phase and needs to be redone.
    Do you also have this problem?
    Damn expensive tsi.

      No such problems, cylinders are ok. When starting the engine, I can hear rattling for few second, then it stops. No other problems.

    Hey buddy I have the same problem on my golf 6 1.4 tsi I uploaded 2 videos on my channel with the start-up if you can watch them please. I don't know what to do, I went to several mechanics and some told me the same explanation about the hydraulic chain tensioner, that it takes a few seconds for the oil to compress it. But other guys say that I should change the chain etc. What should I do ? Did you fix your problem?

    • @dychnedychne
      @dychnedychne  Před 3 lety

      On this video there is no problem, but I know what you mean. Like you said, it's mostly the problem of a hydraulic chain tensioner, which needs a short time to get pressure. On the other hand, sometimes it's the loose timing chain and you have to replace it with a new one. In my car (9 years old now with 85000 km of mileage) it rattles from time to time, but not very often.

    Hello, I have a question, can anyone help me? It is a seat leon 2010 CAXA 1.4tsi engine with 125 HP. I changed the coils and also the spark plugs and also the oil. The thing is that I feel tremors in the engine in my legs inside the car, it makes strange vibrations when it is idling. change the chain. The truth is that I don't know where these tremors come from.

      if the motor is 122hp you will have no problems but more than that i am not so sure. And plus before you buy it ask if the timing chain has been changed because around 150k-200k km the chain is giving up and eventually you will have to fix it to avoid further problems and this fix is not cheap ( 700-1200€ depends where you make the repair ). But on the other side if you change oil and filter on time this engine shows no other major problems and it's really reliable and efficient.

    • @leonardomarkosky8044
      @leonardomarkosky8044 Před 2 lety +1

      Easy way to check it is to warm up the engine (don't make any decisions on cold engine ) and then rev up the car about 2500 - 3000 rpm and move the foot off the pedal. as the rpms come down and you hear any unusual rattling noises than it is the chain. But don't mistake the sound with the high pressure fuel pump because sometimes the rattling is from there but that's not a big problem and in most cases is the plunger which is in the pump and costs around 20 €.
