    As somebody who grew up with World Class I can attest the Von Erichs were unbelievably popular in Texas and Kerry was likely the most popular of them. They were like The Beatles. A lot of people don't realize it, but Kerry was only 23 years old when he beat Ric Flair for the NWA World title. That's a lot to shoulder at such a young age. I think having that on him, being the straw that stirred the drink even within the Von Erich family took it's toll on him. If he hadn't had the personal demons and the physical limitations later in his career, he could have been bigger than Hulk Hogan.
