AAAAHHHHH! Baby videos! For those who might enjoy them, you need to share a few candid shots. This past Friday, January 20th, our 10th Grandchild came rushing into the world after a 23 hour labor. Upcoming in March number 11 is due. Being Grandparents is much more fun than parenting. When the two of you were standing out on the driveway side by side, is when I started thinking that was going to be the announcement. This is just the beginning, cause this first child has to have someone other than mom and dad to play with. Baby will need a sibling, or more! CONGRATULATIONS!! I am very happy for you. Children are definitely a couples most important achievement. Sounds like extra railings, and gates will be upcoming projects as well.

You should get a snowmobile instead of trying to build a ski lift, as cool as that sounds. With a baby around you'll likely drop a bunch of ambitious projects. So a snowmobile for winder mountain runs, and an ebike in the summer (like a Sur Ron) sounds much more achievable with a baby around.

Congratulations guys! To more mundane ideas: I've been thinking about tools you guys need, and first on the list is a rock crusher. You have tons (literally!) of rocks you can use to fill in the road and then turn into gravel to keep it from turning into muddy slush. Next is wood processing equipment: milling clamps and planers. Wood is still expensive. I doubt you have enough trees if you denuded your whole mountain (something I suspect you'd never do) to do all the projects you need or do, but over the long term, I'd bet they'll be useful if you just need a few boards.
Get a large rain collection unit. They make a round one that a lot of people in Hawaii use. It's like 20 feet in diameter or so depending on the size you get.
I am so happy for you two. There is nothing better than family. Call me sentimental but a tear came to my eyes when you said it. Yes, it's a big challenge but it is very well worth it, and I cannot think of a better environment then what you two have for this to happen. So, happy for you two, family is everything.

Because you work on projects together, you know the importance of planning from preparing a vision, looking at the time-line, gathering tools required when needed, periodic checks to ensure progress, recognition that things happen, ability to adjust to accept curveball, recognition of the team and the roles they play, and final execution of goal. When we started our family we were still on our Honeymoon. Our first came along 9 mo after our marriage! There was no planning. I thank God that He filled in the missing areas and acted as the mortar to keep us together and focused on the end goal. As someone who has started 2 of these projects, rather close together, today was a damn hard day, with lots of conflicts between those two projects...and I watched this and remembered the day I got to tell my parents and my wife's parents, and I instantly thought, EVEN after a tough as hell day, they are amazing and the best thing that ever happened to me! There is nothing like a parents love, I know you going to enjoy exploring how incredible that new perspective is, it's not something you can ever understand or experience until you live it out!

My equipment suggestion for remainder of your road would be a larger excavator, in the 25-30 tonne range (tend to be more affordable than 21-22 tonne range). A fresh second hand model similar to what Matt from the 'Diesel Creek' CZcams channel has.

New Equipment... Going on the idea that sometime in the future the D8 Cat will be sold, you should look at attachments for the skid steer. #1 would be a box grader for tackling and fixing ruts or washouts in the road. #2 would be a compactor. When you dig out the road to install a culvert or three come springtime it will help ensure you don't have washouts around them. #3 a landscaping rake to help even out and flatten areas for new projects. Not as effective as the big bulldozer, but again the focus is thinking ahead to when you no longer have the D8. Last... a fun toy for Riley. A Halverson 120 firewood processor!! 😁

AAAAHHHHH! Baby videos! For those who might enjoy them, you need to share a few candid shots. This past Friday, January 20th, our 10th Grandchild came rushing into the world after a 23 hour labor. Upcoming in March number 11 is due. Being Grandparents is much more fun than parenting. When the two of you were standing out on the driveway side by side, is when I started thinking that was going to be the announcement. This is just the beginning, cause this first child has to have someone other than mom and dad to play with. Baby will need a sibling, or more! CONGRATULATIONS!! I am very happy for you. Children are definitely a couples most important achievement. Sounds like extra railings, and gates will be upcoming projects as well.

You should get a snowmobile instead of trying to build a ski lift, as cool as that sounds. With a baby around you'll likely drop a bunch of ambitious projects. So a snowmobile for winder mountain runs, and an ebike in the summer (like a Sur Ron) sounds much more achievable with a baby around.

Congratulations guys! To more mundane ideas: I've been thinking about tools you guys need, and first on the list is a rock crusher. You have tons (literally!) of rocks you can use to fill in the road and then turn into gravel to keep it from turning into muddy slush. Next is wood processing equipment: milling clamps and planers. Wood is still expensive. I doubt you have enough trees if you denuded your whole mountain (something I suspect you'd never do) to do all the projects you need or do, but over the long term, I'd bet they'll be useful if you just need a few boards.
Get a large rain collection unit. They make a round one that a lot of people in Hawaii use. It's like 20 feet in diameter or so depending on the size you get.

Yes, it's a big challenge but it is very well worth it, and I cannot think of a better environment then what you two have for this to happen. So, happy for you two, family is everything.

We are so excited for you guys! You already are great parents! Supporting each other, and obviously loving one another! Because you work on projects together, you know the importance of planning from preparing a vision, looking at the time-line, gathering tools required when needed, periodic checks to ensure progress, recognition that things happen, ability to adjust to accept curveball, recognition of the team and the roles they play, and final execution of goal. When we started our family we were still on our Honeymoon. Our first came along 9 mo after our marriage! There was no planning. I thank God that He filled in the missing areas and acted as the mortar to keep us together and focused on the end goal. We wish you guys all the best and happy to see that you are now sharing more the personal aspects of your life!

I used to work like you guys. I would get a ton of stuff done. I can tell you that the baby will slow you guys down. It's not a bad thing, but it is part of being a parent. But by the time the child is around 3 or so they can actually help out and it is so fun teaching them things and how to do things. I am happy for you guys and wish you the best of luck. As someone who has started 2 of these projects, rather close together, today was a damn hard day, with lots of conflicts between those two projects...and I watched this and remembered the day I got to tell my parents and my wife's parents, and I instantly thought, EVEN after a tough as hell day, they are amazing and the best thing that ever happened to me!

What makes the Ambition Strikes videos so popular, (from my perspective anyway), is that you both maintain such an even keel, somewhat humorous attitude no matter what problems you're faced with. Then when you have success you seem to rejoice in your success and we the viewers can't help but rejoice along with you.

I've been a big fan of your channel with a while now as I do a lot of gardening, landscaping & homesteading work. I learn a lot from your efforts. My equipment suggestion for remainder of your road would be a larger excavator, in the 25-30 tonne range (tend to be more affordable than 21-22 tonne range). A fresh second hand model similar to what Matt from the 'Diesel Creek' CZcams channel has.

Y’all have undertook many difficult and challenging projects and parenthood is just the same-I would say the biggest difference is this project gives back in ways you do not expect. If I could say one thing is to slow down in those early moments of your child’s life it’s amazing to see them grow and develop and hit all the milestones but I know for myself with our firstborn Solomon-I wish I could go back and appreciate those little moments, the coos and funny baby faces more. New Equipment... Going on the idea that sometime in the future the D8 Cat will be sold, you should look at attachments for the skid steer. #1 would be a box grader for tackling and fixing ruts or washouts in the road. #2 would be a compactor. When you dig out the road to install a culvert or three come springtime it will help ensure you don't have washouts around them. #3 a landscaping rake to help even out and flatten areas for new projects. Not as effective as the big bulldozer, but again the focus is thinking ahead to when you no longer have the D8. Last... a fun toy for Riley. A Halverson 120 firewood processor!! 😁
