    DIY Smart Home Guy creates how-to videos for smart home automation centered around Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. Review videos are generally centered around Hubitat Elevation, SmartThings and Vera. I personally run Hubitat as my primary smart hub, however I do test products on the hubs mentioned. I understand that a home automation hub is not a path for everyone. I chose this path because I am a firm believer is advanced automation and local control.

    How did you setup the trigger to turn on lights when tv power draw is detected by plug. What smart plug do you use and what’s the automation software. Thanks.

    Is there any other way to have backlights without camera on top of tv? If yes, is it working for everything on the screen or just for connected playstation, xbox or apps like Netflix, youtube etc... I want it to work with whatever is on screen, movie from USB, movie from satelite,

    You can place it on the bottom of the tv facing up, and it works great. You might have adjust the camera manually to capture the screen, but you can not see the cámara at all. Also It can be integrated with Hubitat to turn it on andoff.

      Yep, there is a community integration for Govee that works for turning it on and off. If you want to change modes you have to go through the Alexa integration.

      I was about to ask this question....you answered it, great!
      Does that camera have to be fitted onto the base of the tv? Or could I integrate it into the unit that the TV stands upon?
      I lo e the setup, but not being able to see that camera.

    Great video, I’m buying it now.
    One question, I see that some installations have the tape or light facing up, down and sideways on a track rather than facing the wall. Seems like that would throw the light farther but maybe it’s less rich from the edges. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

      If your TV is really tight to the wall I could see how that might be helpful. But my tv is about 9 inches from the wall and I think if I angled the LED out like that the light spread would not look as good as it does with them the way they are.

    Can you use these against a dark curtain? My TV has to be up against a window.

    • @DIYSmartHomeGuy1
      @DIYSmartHomeGuy1  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Just tested it for you with a dark sheet behind my TV. It still works, but is definitely not as vibrant. I don't usually have mine turned up to 100% brightness, but with a curtain at 100% brightness it is still a nice effect.

    Is this better then the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite?

    • @Stavvy0
      @Stavvy0 Před 8 měsíci

      Curious, though I might wait until they come out with a non 'lite' version

    • @DIYSmartHomeGuy1
      @DIYSmartHomeGuy1  Před 8 měsíci +1

      From what I have seen, the T2 is still a step up from the 3 lite, primarily because it has twice the pixel density of the 3 lite. But if they come up wiht a pro version that is something to keep an eye on.

      It will, but there are probably better options for a 42 inch TV

    For me absolutely annoying with abasically whole room is constantly flashing , so I did get rid of it and using just strip with steady light green backlight , which cost me $15 for ma 85 inch beauty. And if you need also great Dolby Atmos experience , get a good soundbar setup , you do not need a rainbow dancing around you, do you :) Just my opinion, it was great and something new for couple weeks, but than excitement vanished and become annoying think .

      @jerrodshack7610 Před 4 měsíci +1

      You probably would have been happy with it if you messed with the settings and got it calibrated properly. The room should not be flashing.
