    Holly crap this thing is on!! Getting hits all the way out to 1000 yards using 140eld and my RPR.

  • @holdernewtshesrearin5471

    looks cool. i dont find it too busy or cluttered at all. i generally ignore everything but my actual aim point so for me id rather have as much info as possible in my reticle. as long as the lines arent too thick, the more targeting and ranging info the better.
    i have the 4-14x ACSS R-grid which is very similiar to this new Apollo. its considered busy by some but ive never had issue with it. its actually my all time favorite reticle.
    i also have both PA 1-8x ACSS models, the standard SFP scope and the platinum FFP scope.
    i love them both and never find them cluttered at all.
    all im looking at is that chevron 99% of the time.
    now i will say the platinum FFP reticle is a bit too fine on 1x unless i use illumination, yet its too coarse and large on 8x. my main complaint about FFP optics
    i much prefer the standard SFP reticle for 1-8x scopes and any scope less than 10x to 14x or so.
    SFP just makes more sense to me especially on 1x to whatever tactical scopes but also for long range optics.
    the reticle is always the same size and the perfect size.
    just a thought.
    btw im impatiently waiting for the new PA 3-18x ACSS R-grid 2 model to be released.
    that will be my long range companion to my platinum 1-8x aboard my DD5V1.
    i cant wait!

  • @volanteaggie

    I'm thinking the only reticle that would be better than this is either A: bdc only to 700 yds then mils out to 15 mils or B: mils only to 15 mils and wind dots, not mils. Then you wouldn't be limited to 6.5 cm. I keep checking almost every week to find this in stock though because it is a fantastic reticle design! I like the 50 yd increment change from the hud, as well as wind dots to 20 mph. Keep the reticles coming!! Best scope in the price range hands down imo.

The 7.62x39 reticle in the Prism scopes is an arguably better design. Its been several years now and its really time to update the entire laser etched reticle line over to Chevron.. Ideal for untrained novice shooters who are in some sort of fantasy land. For a trained marksman the mil dot reticle paired with MOA dials can get the job done in lightening speed. Now, the most important thing about wind is a understanding of its velocity and direction which can be easily countered from calculation using the MOA wind constant formula applied to hold or windage adjustment.

      Grendel with 123gr SST should be able to match the DMR 308 reticles (using Strelok+ program) 24" barrel 2580fps bc .510 zero at 100y then adjust .2 mil high is a perfect match less than +/- 10 feet ranging error out 1000 yards, 20" barrel may be close enough for steel +/- 20 feet ranging error zero at 100y then adjust .5 mil high, 18" adjust .7 mil high +/- 30 feet ranging error and 16" won't work well.

    Torn between this or a standard mil-dot reticle. I want to learn to use the standard mil-dot for ranging but this reticle is obviously extremely convenient to have. I know it has that small section that can be used as a standard mil reticle, but not sure that would be enough.

    @1:02 if wind is blowing right to left at 5 mph why hold on the LEFT 5 mph mark? Would one not hold at the Right 5 mph market? So wind would push bullet on target. Best

    • @carnivalwrestler
      @carnivalwrestler Před 4 lety +1

      The reason you hold on the left dot is that it causes your rifle to aim to the right. You're not aiming your rifle at the dot, you're aiming the dot at the target. Lining up a left dot on the target will cause your rifle to shoot to the right. This compensates for your round being pushed to the left by the wind. Just visualize yourself looking through this scope on the range and setting that first left dot on the target and I think you'll see what I mean.

    • @Savoy6thisisbulldog
      @Savoy6thisisbulldog Před 4 lety

      Robbie CaptMilkbone Baxter depends on how high the scope is over the bore of your rifle and what you zero it at. In the military the 25 meter zero is the same as the 300 meter zero . So you can hit a human sized target from 25-300 if you hold center mass. Your best bet is to set up a 30 yard target a 50 yard target and shoot them with your current zero and see where you hit. I’ve had this issue with coyotes in the past as well. I just got to the point where I set a shotgun beside me. If they are coming in that fast and close...you’ll be able to get away with a little movement.
