    Great and thorough review! I like the metal card but I agree with you - not worth paying just for that! It sounds really good, but like you say it's not the right time to make the most of it

      It's a shame they couldn't offer something unique this time. I think it'll put more people off Monzo than get newbies to sign up.

    Signed up yesterday to Monzo Premium after a lot of deliberation. It’s not as good a deal as Nationwide’s Flexplus, but having only one Direct debit active on my Standard Monzo account, I wouldn’t have been able to claim the £100 switch offer anyway. Plus i dont particularly want to lose all the features that Monzo has. The travel insurance covers all four of us in the family and we’re off to the US twice this year. If you whack £2k in a pot and don’t touch it, that £15/month comes down to £12.50. The phone insurance…meh, it’s not the best policy but it’s better than nothing. The metal card is a gimmick…but still kinda cool 😂

    Thanks for the video! I signed up to Premium this morning - I know you can get better value with Nationwide but I do love that metal card! Perhaps once the itch to have one is gone I can switch to Nationwide for their insurance in 6 months time 🤣 I have transferred £2k into my Monzo now though so at least with the £2.50 per month interest it will technically be cheaper than Nationwide!

      I also found that for an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB I’d be paying about £15 per month for the insurance on that alone with Protect Your Bubble, so that’s the basis that I ordered Monzo plus on - that it’s about the same price as Protect Your Bubble but I also get travel insurance and a beautiful metal card 😍

      @BeCleverWithYourCash  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, right now all you’re really paying for is the card! But once (if) we can travel again it becomes better value. Did you already have Monzo Plus?

      Pricey handsets also help to justify the insurance!

      @@priceaj there is definitely a cooling off period as it is saying I can cancel and get a full refund of what I paid yesterday, but I’m not going to cancel it as I got it more for the insurance than the card ☺️

    The insurance is good especially becouse they pay directly the hospital and you not have to pay in advance and this is good!

      Yes, if you shop around you'll get those insurances for less elsewhere, so it seems they're banking on people not bothering or just wanting that metal card

      Hey!
      The shelves are from Made.com. They were a treat purchase! You'll find them here fave.co/3GoOEhS
      The radiator cover was from Groupon or Living Social (something like that) and was just plain MDF which I spray painted

      @@BeCleverWithYourCash a few years ago I had a Swiss Army Card in my wallet (that I had forgotten about) and the X Ray picked it up and it was confiscated because of the tiny knife inside. It strikes me that a metal card could be tampered with to make quite a sharp edge.

    Tbh I don't think this product is worth £15 a month. Revolut metal offers more features for £12.99 a month which has more value. A lot of people will only get it because its metal and the premium feel. And its not worth it when you're not travelling atm

    • @interestedtechy6034
      @interestedtechy6034 Před 3 lety +4

      Revolut isn't even a bank. You're money is not protected with them if they were to fold. Their customer service is horrific and many people have their accounts closed down for tedious thing.
      I laugh when people recommend Revolut lol

    • @sidkings
      @sidkings Před 3 lety +2

      I do find "Metal" card premium options that the likes of Curve, Bunq, Revolut and now Monzo provide are quite gimmiky! The main benefits appear to be insurance and travel, however there are better alternatives.
      You could probably shop around for decent travel insurance and there are better cards avilable to avoid FX fees. I would recommend Starling, Currensea, Transferwise and Curve (free) as a backup. Just my opinion....

    • @SA-st6gq
      @SA-st6gq Před 3 lety +1

      @@interestedtechy6034 the product is still quite similar to Monzo Premium as well as Curve Metal but better in terms of benefits. With reward accounts, I personally think traditional banks offer a more wider range of benefits. I've seen that also of Revolut closing accounts randomly, I wouldn't trust it fully as your money isn't protected but a lot of people do use it mainly for travel purposes because of the benefits
