This will forever be my favorite Thrice song! So much nostalgia and good memories of Vans warped tours and driving hours just to see them live!
Two years old… sorry for the late response.
Refused - shape of punk to come
Not many bands can do it, but the albums those bands do are unreal.
Oh... the old days when you could record videos with a calculator and still say it was the band's official vid
This reply is more to the kids that come around later and see this pixelated, weird ratio, funky ass video. Screens were smaller, and resolution was lower, so when this came out it did take up the entire screen, and it look as great as anything we'd seen at the time. Rendering technology was also way less efficient, so once it hit youtube it got a lot worse to look at. Compression was a bitch back in the 00's.
If you knew all this, this comment wasn't for you.
Guess so lmao. But in all honesty, where are any of thrice's "official videos"? There aren't any that are any better. And no song they ever done was lyrically comparable. Maybe silhouette was close but not equal. And the drum line in this mfer...its over with.
Identity crisis is still my favorite, it came out right before first college summer. My best friends/ band mates used to play these songs at house parties. I was playing drums now guitar, music still rocks. We played a show at the hard Rock Cafe and they had Dustin's guitar on the wall and let me play it for a few minutes, one of the coolest music moments I have had.
Anyone else wish they had a friend that liked Thrice too?
+tanmanbivens (tanmanbivens) show thrice to your existing friends. If none of them can like any of the different albums.. then yeah, you need new friends...
yeah i thought like that since years... sucks that nobody knows them in germany
It amazes me how Thrice was probably one of the only bands in history to make such a smooth, yet speedy transition from punk to prog. rock. I don't think any band in the world could do that in 1 album.
The drummer got injured before Vheissu so they had to change their sound
Came looking for thrice cd used keep iin my home cd changer! Found calm new thrice 😢😢 then knew look for stuff 15yrold! Found this one first! It bangs so hard!
"My true love!
What amazes me is both how good this song is circa 2002, and how much better it was on their live album, especially Dustin's singing. His voice has gotten so much richer. Say what you will about the album Beggars, you can't argue that his vocals haven't drastically improved over the lifetime of Thrice.
this is the most 2003 thing i have seen in my entire life
Okay, I REALLY hate to be that guy, because honestly, Thrice has been a long obsession of mine... but the song was released in 2002... 2003 is the Artist in the Ambulance era of Thrice
Wow, 10 years ago today this was uploaded (though the song itself is about 15). I was probably 16 or 17 when I first saw this after school on MTV2. Now I'm 31, life has gone nowhere but crap, but it's nice to reminisce here and again. Only wish CZcams was around in 2002. Would've saved a lot of money on VHSes that I used to record all these videos on. 😁
when deadbolts awake you from deja vu dreams,
at four in the morning you know where I'll be.
out running red lights asleep at the wheel.
the sirens feed my nightmares,
I just close my eyes and I'm already here;
its already too late.
I know its nothing but lies,
but they sound so sincere;
I find them too hard to hate.
and she calls from the doorway "stolen water is sweet,
so let's drink it in the darkness if you know what I mean"
and she calls from the doorway "stolen water is sweet,
so let's drink it in the darkness if you know what I mean"
and I'm almost sure
that I've been here before,
that this is not the first time I've stood in front of this door,
with an overwhelming feeling that I shouldn't go in,
but it seems this is a battle that I never could win.
and you!
my true love!
you call from the hilltop.
you call through the streets,
"Darling don't you know,
the water is poison."
and I say!
"Come on and give me my poison."
what have I done?
is it too late to save me from this place?
from the depths of the grave?
we all are those ..
who thought we were brave.
what have I done?
Is anyone else hopelessly in love with the outro and can't stop replaying it or is it just me?
Im 27 now and every time i put thrice on it puts the biggest smile on my face after all these years! greatest band ever!
I forgot what cd/dvd compilation this was on but I loved this song ever since rhen.
Whoa i didn’t realize THRICE has been around so long! Getting excited to see them perform at Aftershock next month!
Loved Thrice since I was in HS and was so stoked when Illusion of Safety came out.
This was 2002.
They've been around a longgggg time! Hope you had a great time seeing them.
@@곰토리😂 2009! ………I remember getting this cd back in 2002……..how time flies !
THRICE is amazing! Old to new, not many bands can do what they did. Not many bands can progress and grow after their first hit. This is true talent, like Tool, and Nine Inch Nails.
I can't listen to this song while I'm driving cuz it makes me want to drive crazy, lol...Too much energy!
If I had a grain of rice for every pixel in this video, the whole of China would weep.
n0deification that would mean this video is high quality. More pixels = better quality
The end of this song including the bassist screaming his lungs out is really addicting
Their music has drawn in many different crowds from the bro, the goth kids, the metal heads, etc. Their fans threw books at them to read. Their lyrics have always been thought provoking. Just let people enjoy.
I saw them in Portland, OR, 2 or 3 years ago, they're amazing in concert, one of the best concerts I've ever been too
Wish I could get back to these days. Wonderfully nostalgic.
Hopeless Records had all of our teenage years in an absolute chokehold!
Been here from the jump . 🔥... Last crowd surfer . 1 love y'all...
gotta love that 2007 video quality xD
+CodeDarkBlue This is actually from 2002. It was their first music video.
Good old 240p.
+CodeDarkBlue The video looks that bad because of how long its been up, If they re uploaded the original it would look fine, its just standard definition, Hd wasnt around in 2002
Chain reaction in anaheim California is where they filmed this!!!
MTV used to air this video in my country at 03:00 am
awesome song havent heard tis song in years, so badass so wish id hear more of this band in todays music!
bro, u nailed it. i've been listening to them since identity crisis, and since then they havent let me down. i dont believe they have one bad song.
I couldn't agree more. Thrice is the most diverse band on the planet. Amazingly, everything they do is incredibly good.
i must say, the illusion of safety was thrice's heaviest album yet in my opinion. its amazing
Awww still one of thrices best songs :) brings back memorys
Love this song so so much ! ♡
Seen thrice in it's original form a dozen Times had a blast everytime love you guys
Never heard of Thrice before. Came here after Ronnie Radke said in an interview he was influenced by this album. I can see the influence. 🤘🏻
Damn, I haven't heard this in forever! I feel so old.
What a wonderful era of music.
one of my favorite bands
Oh the memories of seeing thrice when I was 15. Bands these days just don't rock the way they use to.
YOSH!!!
awesome song!!!!
LOVE THRICE!!
My history of music teacher made me discover this band and I'm so glad he did😍
I miss the screaming parts so much in their new stuff
I played this song w my colleague buddies at the talent show. 2008 😎👍
This song is amazing at the start but that last part always gets me. Wish it was longer
Their live versions add a little something something to the ending! You can find them on CZcams or their DVD
I. Can't believe just finding out about this bank this year black honey first them hurricane but yeah there good
one of the best songs of all time and only 500,000 views? What is wrong with this world......
I agree. this song should be heard and shared more than that. most of the plays are probably from me but hey the diamond in the rough :)
Because many people listens to emo pop/pop post hardcore and the whole wrist cutting thing and not this emo/post hardcore.its really sad
ahhh, the great stuff from Thrice!!!!
Ohhh the memories this song brings back
Back in my day we didn't have Guitar Hero.
Only Thrice.
That snare is a time machine in it of itself
Possibly my favorite Thrice song
you do know thrice was around BEFORE rise against...
You mean rise against sounds like thrice.
Old Thrice is the best, new Thrice is like another band
remember first time i saw them they opened with this song bomb ass song live
guitar in the end is awesome
Hey Hopeless Records. Please get the master of this video and reupload it. 240p ruined my eyes in the early 2000s and we should protect future generations.
i listen to this once a week for sure
Back when Thrice absolutely killed it.
Miss the first 3 albums live 😩
Still here from the jump 🥷🥷🔥🔥🔥💯
lord this album was groundbreaking.
miss the old thrice.
@CBD670 this song was on a sampler back around 2004 with the songs listed on the sidebar, with AX7 and melee and amber pacific and some other bands...that's why
4 in the morning you know where I’ll be 🤓🖤🎶
If you didn't want a Gibson SG more than life itself after watching this... you weren't alive when this came out 🤣
I was there for this show. But I have to admit I was really there for Curl Up And Die.
this is so AWESOME!!!!
favorite band of all time
F*****ck this came out about 18 years ago. God damn where did the time go
I miss old Thrice.... :(
God damn, has his voice matured over the years. Have you heard this song live lately? It sounds even better. It's fucking fantastic.
I wonder what Thrice would think if they watched this video heh. Brings back memories I bet
I used to love Thrice before Vheissu, now they are just a random band on my playlist
2018 still bumpin Thrice
We know we're old when all our favorite music videos max out at 240p
Still listening 21 years later :)
Best pump up song ever!
nostalgia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also epic song no matter when it was from in my opinion
Oh I miss old school Thrice
The snare sounds so good
Listen to the snare on Bug Eyes by Dredg on the Catch Without Arms album. If you watch the video on CZcams Dino breaks stick in the video, then picks up another stick without missing a beat. One of my favorite drummers and one of the best snares in the game.
🖤🎶🔥memories Forever.
Their vocals improved a lot over one album.
Anyone have the original (2002 era) viral vid of “Awake and Avenge the Dead”? Cant find it on CZcams,
Legendary......!💯✔🍻
For me, one of the most underrated bands ever. The progression of sound through their lifespan was impeccable to say the least. Deadbolt and Trust in particular epitomized one of their earlier evolutions in sound maturity and I’ve been hooked ever since. This song keeps bringing me back to a much better time in music. ❤
