    Morning Andrew, another good update, pleased to see you enjoying a break. A very good piece by Henry, I hope he is successful in his claim. It makes me wonder who are the people deciding the out come of these events. Surely they need to work with him and every other farmer who is affected by what has happened. It's not only Henry's loss but on a bigger scale a loss to the nations food supply. Keep up the good work you are doing and keep bringing the issues to the public. Maybe then, those in power will have to act. On a jolly note, Why doesn't Henry collect all the clay from his land, then sell it to the EA in the future for further repair work.

    Andrew. Great video, hope the holiday gives you both a nice break. The pressure must be kept up on the EA, the NRA did a good job nationally, the EA is doing the opposite despite having a far larger budget. All governmental departments are very good at sending out representatives at the time tell you what you want to hear and then forget about it, more so when the sun comes out, as you said last time 2019 and still nothing has been done. These departments must become accountable. Food production / security is far more important than letting land flood or become a reservoir to protect other properties. 80% of the Wheat in this country is produced East of the M1/A1 its a fairly narrow belt of land on a map which is why cereals will always be in Lincolnshire or Cambridgeshire. All the best.

    Morning Mr Ward. Glad your having a nice break before it goes mad at work, funny little video there and two more salesmen in the making 😂 I so feel sorry for Henry and that 200acres you can just tell in his voice he’s had enough and I agree you need to keep shouting at the EA because they’ll so go quiet if you let them. I also love a bit off carting it’s great fun. 😊

      Totally. Henry is one of the worst hit but doesn't qualify for a measly 25k? Something slightly wrong there.
      Get the farmer's weekly and other publications involved plus the farming radio stations?

    If you were travelling down roads and something falls off a trailer you are liable for damage done So if E A don’t maintain river banks etc and they fail surely they are liable for damage caused Feel sorry for Henry with the damage and loses due to flooding and having to fight for compensation

    I think Henry’s 200 acres are a natural flood plain, it might not flood for 20 years but unfortunately it eventually does. Hope his payment gets approved..

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Před 14 dny +5

      1/3 of Lincolnshire is below sea level but produces a huge amount of food for the whole country. We have to protect our food supply. If the EA maintained the river network like the local IDB’s do, we would be fine.

    • @philipgraham6980
      @philipgraham6980 Před 12 dny

      Maintain the rivers properly instead of paying obscene salaries to the people at the top and wasting tax payers money and there would be no need for a flood plain as the water would flow out to sea.

    Hi Andrew we moved from uk and farm in Manitoba Canada. I really enjoy watching your channel. I’ve never commented on any you tube video ever, but today you mentioned using your free flow to drill your capulat beans, you will really regret not putting them in with a planter. You would be better off using your contractor tempo on wider spacing than free flow to get spacing.using your drill will reduce yeild and pod even closer to ground. We plant and harvest
    several 1000 acres of beans every year and we are struggling with wet weather and behind planting but using a drill for edible beans will be a last last resort

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Před 13 dny

      We used the Freeflow in some last year and they yielded the same as the precision drill and that was on 12cm rows. Our Freeflow drill depth is very consistent and buries all the seed. The soil is 80% silt and clay so very tricky. We could put the Freeflow on 48cm if we wanted but looking at the crop last year at 50cm I thought it was too wide, Thanks for your advice and help. Do you mean the seed spacing in the row will be better?
      😊👌

    What on earth does the EA consider to be hardship in order for poor Henry or others in his situation to qualify for the 25k payment. That would at least cover some of his expense to establish the winter wheat and osr lost on the 200 acre block. Can understand the strain on poor Henry but he is clearly made of strong stuff .Hope with the arrival of a new baby he and his wife have a much needed boost to carry on forwards and upwards to a good future. Big loss to UK PLC of 200 acres of highly fertile productive land that will now grow bird seed until the next flood. Well done Andrew very useful video.

    Really lovely update, funny in a couple of places, just a shame about Henry. Heavy Metal Ian is a genius to be able to make those repairs. Would it save any money/time swapping the front and back discs with each other, like you can do putting rear tyres on a front drive/steer car which wear quicker, or isn’t it worth it once you’ve got the thing stripped down? Lovely to see three businesses each 10mins from me featured, Bailey, Ancaster Leisure and Cope Seeds… makes me proud to live in Sleaford!

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Před 14 dny +2

      We could do that but the soil is in such bad condition it needs everything throwing at it. You don’t realise what businesses are around. 👌😊

    Andrew, Just a thought about using the Simba Freeflow for putting the beans in. You mentioned using 1 coulter out of every 3. So blocking off two thirds of the coulters. You might be ok with the Simba with its air fan and metering system. I tried it once with a Vaderstad Rapid only running every third coulter (using special pipe blockers in the distribution heads) and it didn't like it. It caused a lot of back pressure resulting in seed coming out of places it shouldn't!

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Před 13 dny

      That could be a problem, I’m wondering if each coulter might need a sort of air release fitting to stop any back pressure.

    How did the stewardship crop establish you did with the kuhn pneumatic spreader last year ?

      It was the grass/wild flower mix we did with it last July. I was planning doing an update from it because Tom cut if for the first time a few days ago. Broadcasting it on and rolling in is great for small seeds.

    There's a "flood prevention scheme" at the top of my road after it flooded about 10 years ago. It "works" in that the burn has stayed in its channel since the civils were done. That said, it hasn't rained like it did that day in the intervening 10 years so does it really work? (quotation marks used advisedly)
    Coming from Scotland, the most interesting thing about a Winter barley is how well it malts!

      Ours has been strengthened up in different places which many others won’t have been and we’ve done various other things to it over the years so it’s far from a normal solo now. Auto lube being one.

    Best that henry buys a dragline and dredges the river with out permission. However we all know within minutes the EA would call the Police and he would be arrested and charged and given a massive fine and probably a custodian sentence.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  Před 10 dny

      If the EA were as good at river maintenance as they are at prosecuting people, we would have far less flooding, therefore more wildlife and more home grown food.

    Just one question regarding the Cereals advert and suggesting pink trouser man having plenty of money, did you intentionally point the camera at his twin with the same outfit in the Cope rebrand event audience? lol Made me laugh anyway
