I think a couple of live performances for you are "Aha Singapore, the Star Vista" and "Popspring Performance 2016" with three originals both with Avi. Serious 5 part harmony "My Heart with You" with Matt from their 2021 Christmas concert but not a Christmas song.

@@nickforell1Before you watch "Aha Singapore The Star Vista" I recommend watching their official video for "Aha!" "Aha!" is a very strange song; it feels menacing but doesn't make much sense. The official video makes sense of it, so you won't feel so confused during the live performance and will be able to properly appreciate what two Red Bulls does to Mitch when he's jet-lagged.
When you're watching the official video, be sure to stick around until the outro begins; there's a bit at the end that many people miss. And when you're watching the live video, don't worry about Kevin. The person filming didn't catch him on camera, but he was there.

Their Popspring 2016 concert is one of their best live performances. They do 3 originals and their live Evolution of Michael Jackson. It is awesome. You hear some great original songs and see a very sassy Mitch. It is one of my favorites. 💕💕

@nickforellreacts another reactor was warned by a patron to wear a helmet for the Aha! Singapore star Vista video. He scoffed, and didn't even make it to Avi's gut punch before he paused the video and hunted up a helmet. It's a fan video, and the film is crap, the audio isn't really good, but the person filming focuses almost solely on Mitch. There is a video of the same concert, but it doesn't have the same impact because it doesn't show the best parts. The video, however, is considered to be the ultimate Mitch slap.

The best live version of them doing original songs is PopSpring 2016. Filmed in Japan and done by MTV, so both the audio and visuals are great. They sing 3 originals and The Evolution of Michael Jackson. It's a 20 minute video, so it can be chopped into two, but it's best just reacted to in its full length.
Other than that...the concert at the Hollywood Bowl or the Evergreen Christmas concert are both good with a variety of songs that they have done official videos for. Miles Reuben's channel has every song from the Hollywood Bowl concert in individual videos.

Yes! Definitely - I second Popspring 2016! so good, Cracked - Can't Sleep Love - Water, are their three originals they do in it! Water is my absolute favorite. They don't have an official music video for Water so Popspring is the best version of it other than their official lyrical video
They have several “Evolution “ songs and they are all good. I love the Michael Jackson. As for live performances even though it’s not Christmas and Avi is doing the bass their Hallelujah live from their Christmas Specisl is breathtaking!
Popspring 2016 and any of their September 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert songs are spectacular.

A lot of people are recommending concert loves, but for me I think the best lives are their very first performances, on the Sing Off. They’d never performed together in public prior to this, and their growth in just 12 performances is astounding. My personal faves are Love a lockdown, Let’s Get In On and Dog Days Are Over. I’d also recommend the live performance of Hallelujah, which I actually prefer to the studio track.
Their Hallelujah from their Christmas Special is one of their live ones that come to mind. And I think there is one they did, What is this Feeling? from an NBC, A Very Wicked Halloween that is live, I think. Someone can agree or disagree about that one?

@@nickforell1 Nick, I found a site, PTX Videos, that has a title, Pentatonix Live Vocals/Performances That every vocal coach should watch. There is no commentary on it just them singing various live vocal as in different places. Oh and I forgot, they sang the National Anthem at the College Football National Championship game. ESPN has it on their channel.
As a musician I watch the evolution videos with awe -- they go through the transactions seamlessly, changing everything in a single beat.
Great reaction. They are so young here, but the talent is obvious. I love when it's just them on a couch, because you can see what each of them is doing. It always impresses me to see that. One of my favorites like this is their cover of "Gold." You should also check out Avi's solo work, because it is incredible. I would start with "All is Well--7 Layers Sessions," and "When I'm a Fool -- Live at Sunset Sound."

@@nickforell1 , it's especially evident in their cover of Kiiara's Gold. Kiiara had to use a LOT of production on the vocals to achieve her sound...and yet Mitch and the group managed it all just sitting on a couch with nothing but mics and a bit of mixing. It's worth checking both out to hear the difference.

If you love Avi then you'd love him now. Solo is where he belongs. Change on the Rise and b/w video of I'm only getting started or When im a Fool live at Sunset Sound is where you need to go. Please give him a chance. He deserves the recognition. Thank you.

I agree he is great solo. He was my fav from the group and I was super bummed when they said he was leaving. I think it was the best thing for him though. He's an amazing artist, and wouldn't be able to give us all of his amazing music if he was still with them. I do miss the og group, though. There was something really special about them.

Scott and Mitch have evolution videos for Beyonce and Gaga on their Superfruit channel. I am not a Gaga or Beyonce fan, but they are both so good! Also, for entertainment, they have two Hip-hop goes Broadway videos that are hilarious!! (My top live recommend will always be Aha live in Singapore. It's so feisty!!!) ❤
One of my favorite earlies is La La Latch, it's just so good.
Great live options: Popspring 2016, anything from the Hollywood Bowl, or a live version of their La La Latch mashup (either Live at 3FM- more bare bones OR live at 2015 Rockin’ New Year’s Eve- audio was mixed). Aha! at Singapore is probably the ultimate live experience, but I feel you should watch the official video first, as well as some other live experience. You also MUST watch 90’s Dance Medley, Love Again (original) and Amazing Grace (plus about 300 more…) So much joyous brain cell rearranging ahead for you…😁
This was their first "Evolution of ...", from 2013. The others are -- "Evolution of ..." -- "...Beyoncé" (2014), "...Michael Jackson" (2016), "...Rihanna" (2018) and "...Arianna Grande"(2019). Their 2021 "90's Dance Medley" is in a similar style but is not an evolution. And the best thing is that these normally do not get blocked.
you really should take the plunge and do their Sing Off run, you will be gobsmacked at how freaking good they were when they started out and just got better

I know everyone likes to recommend Popspring as a good live performance, and it certainly is. But for something more recent, anything from their Hollywood Bowl 2022 live stream are excellent - and many are more technically complex than the the Popspring performance.
Definitely check out their 90s Dance Medley.
I have watched PTX since they participated & won the sing off & was SO impressed by their voices & music, espicially Avi (the bass) but when he left the group, they changed so drastically i stopped watching them. By then i had found Home Free & Voiceplay on the sing off in 2016/2017 & have been following both groups ever since..I've seen Avi & Home Free in concert twice for each amazing performances for both. Hopefully i will be able to see them again. I did start watching PTX again & have seen them in concert once but i can't afford their tickets way too pricey for me.I missed getting to see Voice play by 1 year. But if they ever start touring again i will see them. Great reactions!❤😊❤❤j

This is the video that made PTX first go "viral." I teach Humanities on the high school level, and my students at the time introduced me to PTX via this video. I've been hooked ever since. I actually still teach Humanities, but now I have an entire unit devoted to a cappella, featuring PTX prominently, of course.

This is one of my top three PTX songs, along with _Imagine_ and _Daft_ _Punk._ So good! The evolution of music is like the evolution of technology, there are slow changes over hundreds of years (punctuated by the occasional revolution in some area) followed by rapid acceleration until what counts as significant change becomes hard to judge. I think they've encapsulated that really well.
aha singapore my favorite live
"Evolution of Music" is about as close to a live video as you can get, being a single take. Similarly, their cover of Kiiara's "Gold" is a stripped-down single take that far outclasses the over-production of the original, imo. Others have suggested other great live performances, but I would hold off on Aha! in Singapore just a bit. The audio and visual quality are poor, so you'll need to substitute parts of the performance in your mind to appreciate what is happening on stage. Avi is blowing the subwoofers, and our generally introverted Mitch is high on Red Bulls, so the whole thing looks and sounds a bit chaotic, but it is a treasured piece of PTX history for Pentaholics. Another great reaction!

It's interesting that, years after this video was done, in 2017, Avi (as Avriel & The Sequoias, recorded before he left PTX) did a cover of "Hey Ya!" czcams.com/video/whBQCkhFwYg/video.html and then, in 2019 recorded the song that followed "Hey Ya!" in "Evolution of Music" - a short cover of Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy" with the trio ReSound. That's the best way I know for you to find out what Matt (the bass who replaced Avi) is currently capable of, since his arrangement of the second verse of "Hallelujah" seems to have been designed to show off his full range. If you want to really appreciate this, and figure out what the originals are, there is a fan-made side-by-side for this (and most of their other medleys). You see (and hear) Pentatonix on one side and see and hear the clip from the original video on the other side, with the song and artist labeled. I love this medley, but I kind of wish they'd cut out some of the later songs to fit in some music from the 14th or 15th centuries, instead of jumping immediately from 11th century to 1800. That's a 700 year jump, so for my history nerd brain it's a little jarring.
