THE Preparation of the TRAIN…

One of the most important operations in the railway sector is the shunting and coupling between locomotives and wagons which must always be carried out with the utmost attention. In this video you will be able to see some maneuvering and docking phases regarding the preparation of the Cargo Terminal (MT) from Bologna Centrale to Bologna Interporto. Initially, as you can see, the E405.006 from the Ravone beam arrives and slowly approaches the RGS wagon marked 31 83 391 6 515-7 I-MIR with Rail 3D on it. Once the coupling between the locomotive and the wagon has been made, the bank is changed to enable the other driver's cab and thus start again in the direction of Ferrara. After about 10 minutes, the red-green signal with itinerary 8 is opened to leave for Bologna Interporto. But seeing the Carro Rail 3D directly, what is it for? RFI has long since embarked on a process of innovation and digital transformation which has among its objectives the georeferencing of the railway infrastructure and the creation of the Single Physical Infrastructure Model (MUIF). It is a question of integrating the appropriate information in order to have a technical and georeferenced description of the infrastructure. In this case, each department has its own functionality: Maintenance: i.e. the collection of asset data and integrations with inspections and measurements. Construction: Plan tasks based on up-to-date topographic data. Signalling: Verification of the correct position and visibility of vertical and horizontal signals and ground sub-systems. Passengers: Additional and customized services based on information on the Database. Information Technology: Data harmonization. Quality: Real-time control of jobs across the board. Heritage: Knowledge and enhancement of assets following verification of cadastral data. Currently in Italy there are 2 “Rail 3D Asset Digital Twin” wagons: one is this one that you will see in the video marked 31 83 391 6 515-7 I-MIR and the other is 31 83 391 6 667-6 I -MIR.
