saw rage and wu tang in hartford CT 1997. will never forget it
I think my fingernails still have dirt in them from the Meadows lawn. Lol I will never forget that night.
wow here after the finale!!!!!!!!!
Saw this tour ! Chicago baby! Ate a ten strip and fried while fans chanted "Wu""Wu" and had their hands up in a w..
Rage fans tore the chairs outta the ground and made the show general admission. Nothing but 90s !
Saw this concert in Camden, NJ August of 1997. I was 17 years old. It was awesome.
watwat79 I saw it in NC in July in think 1997 and I was seventeen then too! I
I was 16 when I saw the tour in Denver in Sept. 1997, just after Wu dropped off the tour. The Roots opened for Rage. It was pretty epic.
I was there - Merriweather Post Pavilion, 15th August 1997, 15 years old! One of the greatest gigs I could ever have gone to at that age and still today if I could go again.
Was there man. It was crazy when rage came on. I was 21 at the time. Left the show and headed straight to O.C. for the weekend.
I was 18 at Merriweather PP, still my favorite show all time, even though wu barely played lol. The whole lawn section all of a sudden just ran through security and made it one big show. Spent the whole show on the bar. Almost melted it was so hot. Saw them both again in 07 at rock the bells in San Bernardino. Totally different energy, but still good.
Saw this in Hartford CT and after Rage there was no lawn left at The Meadows in Hartford, CT and the outer fences were piled up and burned. Sod was flying in the air all night, it was AMAZING. Wish there was footage to see of it.
The Harftord show was fucking insane...ive never seen so much sod in the aor at once. Fucking truly one of the best meadows shows ever.
I was front row pit at that show and to this day no show has ever surpassed it
Any of you guys remember the actual name they called this tour? I had a poster (I was there too) and I swear they had a name they were calling the tour and I cant find it.. wasnt evil empire
I was at this show, down front, I remember it being pretty chill down there until toward the end, and all of a sudden people just came crushing forward. I was just trying not to get crushed, we knew the seats were flying behind us but I didn't hear about pepper spray, fence fires and sod throwing until it was over. I just remember a lot of people pouring down from the section behind us and trying not to get kicked in the head. I was 17, it was the 90s, so being kicked in the head once or twice at a concert was sort of....expected? But I recall this being actually kind of scary. Maybe it was just how fast it shifted, everybody was cool during Wu Tang, the mood shifted fast. I went back to that venue a year later when Pearl Jam came through, this time on the lawn, it was super chilly out and kind of an underwhelming experience overall. It made me sort of miss the seat throwing, fire setting maniacs of '97 lol.
@@jennienmcpherson I was 17 too and i think im still picking sod out of my finger nails from that night.
Raekwon went back and acknowledged homie
he's a real 1. On the cover of OBFCL under the bio, he shouts out all the addicts who paid his bills before he started this "rap shit"
I was 13 and went to this in Charlotte NC blockbuster Pavilion!!!! It was Rage , WU and Prodigy the band OMG talk about Litty!!!! I remember buying that exact shirt RZA got on. I was a HipHop head as a youth and WU put me up on Rock by way of this concert 😉
All the rap lovers left when the monster mosh pit on the grass started to burn! The girl I was dating got scared and just left. 1/3 of the ampitheatre just left.
I was at that same show. I remember someone trying to steal a microphone while wu tang was performing and rza telling them to give it back. Awesome show
What I wouldn’t do to go back in time and see this tour. Literally my two favourite groups of all time!!!!!
1st show at Merriweather was 14. And yet to see a show that compares...
Imma miss American Saga. Just wayched finale
Yea.. would love to see solo show about Methodman. At Maino podcast they mentioned something.. I don’t know.. but hope we see more in future. Its a bomb show even if it werent wu
as a kid i had tickets to a show that ended up cancelled on this tour. legendary shit. hope i get to see them in 2022 for round 2
Where’s the guy that says “I’m here cos of the Wu-tang tv show “ ?
All the 'kids' at my work are pumped for the upcoming RTJ/Rage tour. I tell them i saw WU/Rage in 1997 and they called me a Boomer. ded.
rzabomb haha what a lame response, my response to that would be fuck yeah! lucky man.
i was 2 at that time, until know i didn't knew about this xD i like both. It would been awesome if they had make a feat together back then
I pity those who born in the 90s and after! They haven't seen anything. The teenagers of this generation are the worst of all generations. Those who grew up in the 90s and early 00s listened to all kinds of music from the The Doors, Rollings Stones, CCR to bands like Rage, Pearl Jam, Nirvana all those grunge bands and 2000s alternate rock. Everyone has such varied taste in music. You recommend some good classic music to a 25 yr old 'kid' nowadays and he will you call you 'boomer'! Such ignorant and arrogant pricks they're. Let them rot with their shitty memes and mumble raps. Bunch of skinny pant wearing sissy generation of manchilds!
Kids that call people boomer for just being old is dumb 😅 it’s not what it means, boomer generation was your parents kids can be really ignorant. Calling people hipsters when they were just following trends or woke as a cuss when they don’t understand what woke means 😂 dumb leading dumb but that’s the future, when the world ends these kids and hell even majority of us are gonna be gibbering like a bunch of sims in a house fire whilst the player is out taking a piss.
I was the NJ Philly Show- had a blast!
I was there in Massachusetts 97. So good. What a day
I was at Tinley Park for this show. When Rage came on I immediately went into the aisle, and when I turned around the people came at me like a wave.
I wish I was a teen durring this era. Hip Hop and Rock/Metal used to like each other. Nowdays 99% of the Metal listeners hate Rap and 99% of the Rap listeners hate Metal. Everything is separated and this kind of pisses me of 🤔
More like 98%, of Metal and Rap listeners, never here just for rent, I rattle your mind ministers, but how about around 50%-75%, it’s way better to doubt and recheck, break the glass, what you need in a better strategy to win chess, is letting me be a part of your very first real guess, but this ain’t no sick way to diss, I’m just saying be more careful, as it actually hard to miss, what you count in the riverflow
Rethink the fishes in the tank, best fucking wishes, worth to make!
But you don’t need to, I just want to give out a suggestion to reconsider your thoughts more often for the better, but hey that’s just me, you do you
Saw RATM in Camden NJ Aug 16, 1997 - Great show !
I went to this show but it was after WU bailed on the tour. The Roots stepped up and finished the tour with Rage.
Rage was late in Mansfield Massachusetts show. Wu Tang played for like 1.5 hours.
Im here to check if they really kick out Wu tang like was in the wutang series
I was at that concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Also Rage and the Wu Tang were at my movie theater the night before
I was at that show, it was nuts, the stage got rushed over and over I was 16
Saw them at the new world
GREATEST SHOW I've ever been too
I am here 🙋🏽♂️, after watching Wu Tang Clam series
Saw this Tour Noblesville Indiana. There was a riot. It was a great
RIP Old Dirt Dog
Kimmie cant find shit. Someone has to have it somewhere. Maybe local news?
I got to see/hear one of the few shows from this tour. Rained a lot, Atari Teenage Riot was amazing also. I was out the show Brad was talking about with chairs being ripped out.
I saw them on this tour at the Meadowlands Arena, NJ. Zach hurt his ankle during the show and came back limping on stage after a short break.
I was at the Tinley Park Illinois show so dope. I got my bucket hat signed by Method Man I was 14 years old we smoked so much weed that day/night. Classic
I remember them playing The Boathouse here in Norfolk VA back in the day (for this tour). It’s closed now, but it was just a small venue (maybe 2,000 people). Can you imagine the Clan crammed on one bus?
This footage is from the E-Center (not sure if it is called that now) in northern New Jersey. I was there :D
Would love to have been there. Remember reading about the gig in kerrang!
I was there, this is Lakewood Amphitheatre in ATL! AMAZING NIGHT!!!
Yes sir.... I was there this night too. Crazy night.... hell of a time!
That must have been an incredible tour.
Saw this at Great Woods in MA. Loved it
Saw this tour at Blossom in Cleveland. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen!
Yea I was in the pit wu tang came out late I didn't play long but I was there to see rage anyway
@@user-gw8rz9pw9i lol yeah, was bummed they didn't play their whole set. I was a Wu and Rage fan. Was kinda funny to see the crowd demographic change the moment Wu was done 😂
having wu tang and rage on the same bill is all good.
Tom rockin a Libertyville Illinois hat🤘🏾
I had tickets for this in Denver, then the tour got canceled. I was able to see rage at red rocks before this through.
Dope Upload Take me Bak 2 Da good Dayz!
Jason Hall I saw this tour in Pittsburgh. May have been my favorite show ever. I had forgotten the Liquor store and police car on stage. They played KRS1 "sound of the police, sound of the beast"
I remember seeing them in Bmore in 97. What a great act
I would've killed to have experienced this tour but sadly I was only a year old at the time lol
They might as well have added Pantera to that bill... those had to been the craziest shows. I was 12 years old when this tour happened... just too young.
I wonder how many cities they did. I was in Hartford Connecticut that day. There was so many fights there that broke out on separate occasions. The whole day was wild.
Yo! Saw this tour in my hometown Philly. Wild night! And I ain't talking about the show...
WU tang was never quite the same after they bailed on this tour. Terribly unprofessional decision, and it was a symptom of the huge cracks forming within the group
@@destroyermaker on the show they explained it as nearing the end of their 5 year contract with Rza they didnt need to stay united or tour anymore and there were already problems with getting all the wu members to even show up
@@destroyermaker they just couldn’t get their shit together. Massive egos, all pulling in different directions. Tbh with a few notable exceptions a lot of 90s NYC Hip Hop groups just didn’t tour much, so their live chops were below par. Nas SUCKED live back then, as did Mobb Deep. Wu always brought it live but they were just too unreliable
They didn't bail on the tour. They got kicked off because the tour promoter was a dick
Wu-Tang sounded really bad in Charlotte. Sound was off. Rhymes muddled. 30 guys on stage yelling. Method Man is great & tried to rap w/ Zac to mesh the performances, but Zac was primed & overpowered him. By that point in tour, not many came to see Wu. RAGE was just a FORCE on stage. Stadium emptied during Wu, then filled up for RAGE. Guys went around to all the trash cans, piled it on the lawn, it it on fire and we had a roaring bonfire churning with a sea of moshers running in a circle around it. Rap fans cleared out. Girl I rode with scared & asked me to ride home with friends.
They can say they left b/c of internal stuff, but RAGE's popularity, the rabidness of the fanbase on that tour...nobody in hip hop wanted to lead off for them. They were overwhelming. Not an insult to Wu-Tang. But they weren't co-headlining a short time in. They were the warm up band. They were getting boo-ed until they walked out, Method stayed & Zac appeared...by their own "fans". But honestly, the true hip hop crowd wasn't interested in coming to a hardcore thrash punk concert. They wanted to smoke weed & chill.
Yo I was at the concert with wu Tang and rage at was then great woods now the tweeter center I lived with my friends and loved all wu Tang forever and hope to see rage against the machine again best or one of my best moments ❤️💕🙂🙂❤️💕
I went to the reunion of this same tour Three day festival for Rock The Bells in 2007 I believe!!!!.... OATMEAL MUSIC 🎶🎵
Lmao @ the blonde girl in the back at 6:33 😂😂😂
Morello playing People of the Sun with the double SG 😮
Anybody notice the Storm Trooper on stage?
I remember having the issue of rolling stone in 1997 that covered this tour.
This was Atlanta. Lakewood 97. Not Connecticut. I was there. Epic.
Yes, I was too. Funny I mentioned this to my daughter in passing yesterday. Up it pops in my feed.
Nobody ever mentions Atari Teenage Riot
It was raining like Hades at the concert in my city
2023 and now Rage Rages with the Machine.
6:14 They have never changed, you don't know what you are talking about.
Eye miss these times 😥
This is so wild and just super impressive experience, my god!
Ghostface kissing Odb was unexpected 😭

I saw this tour. by the time they hit Irvine CA The Wu Tang had imploded. I had tickets for 2 nights. first night The Roots opened. night 2? the Foo Fighters showed up and rocked.
West Palm Beach! Craziest concert ever!
Dude where the hell did you get this footage from like, I am searching my ass off to get some stuff like this, I am literally a Ratm footage chaser, nice and thx for the upload

@@miniaturethemepark94 I have this on VHS :) . They aired it at least twice, the second time was a shorter version of this footage.
Got tickets but by the time the tour came to the Bay Area, Wu was off the tour. I was defistated!!!!!

Yeah I was in San Jo expecting that too… was supposed to be at Concord Pavillion I think 🤔

We started the fence ripping and burning ordeal..we were fucking nuts back then

Saw them in Nashville at Starwood. 2nd row center. Wu Tang was tossing Heineken and then poured a cooler of ice water on us. What a time to be alive.
Same. 1st row to right of center. Remember the cooler. Great show. ODB didn’t make it to the stage.
2:53 wu tang an american daga did the outfits of odb and ghostface like this. That is attention to detail.
😂😂 I just watch d biopic so this really happened

All that money on the table and Wu walked away from it or fumbled. 🤦🏾♂️

So funny to see all the comments.. I was there in Atlanta, No it was in Jersey, I was there.. oh I remember this show in Phily…😂😂
In fact, everybody was wasted and everyone memory fckd up
I have a very strong hardcore punk background, and I fff love the Wu tang clan, maximum respect!
Saw this tour in Mansfield.. m.a. . Right before wutang got kicked off. O.D.B. was a no show cuz he got locked up. I think Ganstarr took Over, for the rest of the dates.
Hurtfelt visual
Remember when Metallica played the S&M show and you had metal heads banging it up next to penguin suits on proper. Good shit to blend man. Blend your homeys today
Front row center for the Tinley Park IL show. An old buddy won 4 tix off Q-101. What Brad Wilk mentioned about the chairs flying was true @ the IL show. We were in the front row of the pavilan seats, there were 2 rows of plastic seats in front of us. Rage came on, the people in the chairs not nailed down fled for their lives! Love that era of the band cause Evil Empire is my favourite record by them, and they were playing a few "deep tracks from EE on that tour. The IL show was the last of the tour if im not mistaken? Ol' Dirty Bastard was arrested after the Tinley Park show, and that was that if memory serves. And my front row ticket landed in my lap. Shout out to my boy Sean from Buffalo Grove for winning the tickets, and shout out to my boy Dave, from MY hometown, Mundelein IL (one town over from Libertyville where Tom Morello went to HS) for talking them in to taking me with them all super last minute. 👊
