NL will play the game for 30 seconds, immediately get distracted by chat, and forget what he was doing in the first place. It's a vicious cycle, because he's bantering so much, he loses track of what he's doing, and because he doesn't know what he's doing, he turns back to banter.

It's as entertaining as ever, just in a different way. I can't put into words how his humor is different now, but there's a change between how his banter was in the Dishonored/FNV days and now. Not that the change is a bad thing (for the most part), I just can't figure out what the difference is

This is great marketing tbh. NL bantering through story beats and missing things that are frustratingly obvious as a viewer has sent me to the store page for so many games over the years
I think NL has to have some sort of deal with indie devs because he's actually so good at selling games doing this.
NL and Sips both have been coaxing people into buying games by playing in mildly frustrating ways for over a decade now, since before it was a standard of mobile games ads even.
And God bless them the pair of them, it works on me every single time.

bought Dredge after seeing NLs videos and honestly, it's the first time in forever that I've played a game for like 5 hours straight. It's just really fun and rewarding to work towards exploring the world and upgrading your lil ship
Edit: also for new players, don't be afraid to use "Haste". It's basically just your sprint button as long as you don't overcharge it in which case you take minor hull damage

I sank 6 hours in my first sitting, this game is great. exploration feels super rewarding too. the spyglass is so useful, cant believe NL hasn't used it once yet lol.
There is maybe 10 minutes of gameplay here. This is amazing

I love watching him play these games. There is some awe inspiring site, and he won't even turn the camera to look, and then some leviathan, lovecraftian horror comes for his boat and he just keeps fishing and talking about stocks or something. He would truly be the greatest love craft protagonist, a mind so uncurious it cannot be corrupted by the non-euclidean horrors of the deep
NL playing Dredge is the perfect example of why you should never use your phone/have any distractions while driving.
Edit: This isn't even the episode with the eel. Whatever you do, if you like Dredge content, you MUST see the next episode.

The banter really does marinate similar to his eels, while he's on his trusty boat. Truly a delicacy for the educated palate.

I love that the monsters in the night can be explained in the day. The giant tentacles emerging from the water are you misinterpreting the geysers at night, the giant eel is just rocks tumbling from the cliffs.

monster eel is real, giant tentacle is a panic illusion but it happens outside of geyser areas along with a few other panic monsters

@NL You can use your telescope to see what fish are in each spot from a distance without having to move. Handy for night fishing and just in general.

Honestly love how nl is focusing so much on the actual fishing and upgrading, it's nice to see someone not rushing through the quests
I’m think u misunderstand. He’s trying really hard to do the quests he’s just doing them really slow because he’s only like 25% thinking about the game, 75% thinking about how to be an optimist about how much work you have left after not working for your first half hour of your shift.
The shopping trolley discussion: I live in Australia and, at least where I am, I never see the aisles moving like lanes of traffic. The stores must be so crowded in Canada! That's... a little horrifying (like this game)
Same here in Cali, even during peak Costco hours where the food court is bumper-to-bumper, there's never more than like 4 people in an individual isle at one time

Hiking is an amazing activity with kids because all the dangers you have to worry about are "come away from the edge". Instead of "don't talk to that strange man", "don't pick up that shard of glass", "don't run out in front of that drunk driver".
If fishing was easy , they'd call it catching instead.

I'm like 2 weeks late so I was watching through this series on autoplay. Somehow youtube skipped over this episode and I had no clue until 2 episodes later because I had to go back to find what episode I was on. That should tell you everything you need to know about how much gets done in this episode

I'm so glad I chose NL as my first playthrough of this game to watch. If I hadn't, I never would have gotten frustrated enough to the game and complete it myself. It's so rewarding and relaxing to play through at your own pace.
i wasn't paying attention to the game for most of the video so it actually worked out for me because i didn't actually miss anything due to banter

12:00 See, I'm never there live to ask, but everyone always brings up real bike vs Pelaton. But like, there's hundreds of stationary bikes out there that are not the Pelaton and are like 1/10th of the price plus don't have a subscription model. I wanna ask why you would spend like $2000 and $60 a month on that when you could spend $150 on a basic one that pedals just the same.
Clout. A: I've got the money to buy it.
B: People can see the work I put in.
At leasts thats all I can think of. My work has its own company gym full of bikes. Literally across the street from the business.
We still got all these guys with pelatons all bragging and excitedly hyping each other up over their rides etc.
I just hop on the free bikes at the company gym.

I see this the same way I see real bike prices. You can either go to Walmart and spend $150 on a mtn bike, or $2500+ on one at a bike shop. Depends on motivations
@@shadowwolv21 I don't feel like it is the same though. Top tier mountain bikes have the highest premium parts, they have multi-layer gear systems, they have premium tyres for different terrain types etc. They're designed for pros at mountain biking. I wouldn't say from what I've seen that the Pelaton is made for pros at exercise biking. It's probably made of nicer materials but given you don't need to deal with terrain issues like you do on a real bike I can't imagine the mechanism is that much better.
Although I would agree I imagine dropping 2k on a bike would be very motivating.

I am sorry but placing the cam in the top right, when the previous episodes had it in the top left, has ruined the continuity. How can I possibly look forward to the next upload when I cannot temper my expectations, anything is possible now. Will he even be on cam in the next episode? will he even be bald? Any sense of certainty has been ripped away from us, I don’t understand how this man can continue to dredge like nothing has happened
