Did you read Crooked Kingdom at all? Or did you just read Six of Crows? Because trust me, Crooked Kingdom makes Six of Crows so much better in hindsight. At least for me it did. It made the characters so much more believable.

my theory is that this season will focus on shadow and bone, whilst being a prequel to six of crows, and season two will focus on the six of crows story line, and leigh bardugo said that if there is to be a season two, wylan and nikolai will hopefully be in it.

My thoughts: The casting is immaculate, the costumes and score seem great. The mix of writers and producers is wild. It can go either way (Riverdale cringy, Stranger Things fun and spooky, Outlander beautiful but slow). I'm still not convinced about the fusion of the two series, but I am open to it I guess. I just hope they don't sacrifice the Six of Crows storyline too much, since everyone agrees it's superior to Shadow and Bone.

I believe they went for General Kirigan rather than "The Darkling," because they don't want to outright imply that he will be an antagonist for those who have not read the books. "The Darkling" as a title is a bit hokey in my opinion and kind of gives off the feeling that he's probably not a good guy.

As of now that is the only source we have that says Matthias is in one episode... and its already been proven that Genya will be in more episodes than what is listed.
The show won't fail, atleast I don't think so. The books already have a really large fandom, all we need to do is somehow make it trending enough to attract all the non-book readers.

as a darklina shipper i'm pretty sure i speak for all darklina shippers when i say that we don't think alina and the darkling would make a examplary relationship. We just think it would be an interesting story to see a main character join the villain's side
Even his mom wanted his redemption via a relationship with her. Him not being so alone might have changed the world right? Good or bad we'll never know...or will this show explore exactly that 😂

Ok so we know that IMBD is not accurate, so Mathias is probably in more than 1 episode. Also, it's been confirmed that Kirigan IS the darkling. They just gave him a different name so he wouldn't appear so sinister and his evilness will be more of a surprise to newcomers.

They're actually just going into the SOC backstories in season 1 while telling the story of SAB since those characters do at some point meet the SAB characters in the duology. The writers figured it would make the story flow better if the audience knew who they were before the SOC storyline is introduced.
My assumption is that Alina and Nina are going to interact with each other in Os Alta at the beginning of the show! It makes sense since we're going to get a prequel story of the crows and Helniks's story is going to start only in episode 7

Given that I liked the Witcher adaptation on Netflix and that was a much tougher source material to adapt in my opinion, I am cautiously optimistic about this one. I am also generally very pleased with the casting decisions so far. Though I find the decision a little bit strange that they will intercut Shadow and Bones with the Six of Crows characters. But my guess is that for Inej, Jesper and Kaz it's going to be about some earlier heist (and some of their backstory) and for Nina and Mathias it seems like it's going to be the time they were shipwrecked together. That way we can be essentially at the starting point of Six of Crows by the end of the season. I think they omitted Wylan on purpose, because he joined the gang later anyway, and most of his backstory came as surprise reveals during the story.

I am screaaaaaming! I've been screaming since i heard about this adaptation! I don't think i've ever been as excited for a book to TV adaptation as i am for this!!! To see my beautiful perfect babies characters come to life and to see this whole world with special effects is going to be a dream!!! I reeeeeally hope i don't get crushed because my expectations are soooo high!!!

What has me excited is how much detail we're already being shown in the making of this series. After the disaster that was the Winx series, I'm happy to see that this looks so promising.

I'm worried that now, with a show coming out, the fandom will become less creative with our content (less art or other stuff), because now everyone will just use pictures of the actors instead, and we'll have a lot of newcomers from the show:0 (which is exciting and also sccaryyyyy)

I am still quite sceptical of the show. I loved Six of Crows and would love to see it on screen, but I don't know how they will have a show with both series, Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows. I don't really care that much about the Shadow and Bone trilogy and it seems like the show will mostly focus on that book series.
Also, absolutely do a theory video for the show. That would be amazing.
I'm the same as you, but I have hopes that if they do things differently maybe I'll enjoy the Shadow and Bone part of the show better than I enjoyed the books. But I'm so scared that they destroy the Six of Crows amazing story at the same time...
@@laiaal.3324 I completely agree. I especially didn't like the characters in Shadow and Bone and I feel like it's definitely possible that the show makes me like them more. But I already love Six of Crows and I would want to see the actually story as a show and we know that that won't happen. I'm really anxious that they are going to ruin the SoC part.

@@aurelia6254 I definitely think that SoC will be more focused on in later seasons, but I also think that the Shadow and Bone part will always be a big part of the show. There's a trilogy worth of material amd even though they won't be sticking to the books, I still feel like they want that to be really important. I guess we'll know more when the trailer drops.

I've never read Shadow and Bone, but Six of Crows is my favourite duology of all time. I'm optimistic because of Leigh Bardugo's involvement in the show and the care that was put into the posters and the promotional material that we've received so far has brought my hopes up even more. I'm genuinely excited for it!

My theory on the Darkling/ General Kirigan thing is that 'General Kirigan' is sort of like his alias. I think the character 'The Darkling' might be introduced as the person who created the unsea (like how the story of the Black Heretic, a "former" Darkling, was told in the books). Then Alina will find out that General Kirigan is actually the Darkling, just like how she found out that The Darkling was the Black Heretic in the books. The term 'The Darkling' might've made it too obvious to viewers that he was the villain, and they might be trying to make it more of a plot twist to those who haven't read the books.
In the books "The Darkling" is one of his many aliases already... so you're probably right

They changed The Darklings name because they want to make it less obvious that he is the villain. They are going to have the Darkling be a myth and then reveal the general as the Darkling so the plot twist will be more shocking 🖤
The darkest minds is one of my most favourite series and I went to theatres to see it and have never been more disappointed by anything....

I'm so excited for this! I'm always excited about adaptations, because my first thought when reading a book I enjoy, is I hope we get adaptations. I know often times adaptations can be disappointing but I always choose to be hopeful.

I can tell you put so much effort into it and I hope you do more updates on this show later on! when I heard this was getting an adaptation I straight up decided I was going to ignore it and pretend it didn't exist bcs I was so sceptical of netflix doing it and the whole merging of the two stories that have very little to do with each other was a big no to me. but then the cast came out and I thought it was PERFECT! they naaailed that part. and THEN these teasers came out a few days ago and I was on the verge of tears. I haven't felt so excited about a piece of entertainment in literal years. I pray they don't mess it up and that if it's good, these stories get the hype that they deserve
It kinda bothers me when people bring up Riverdale like it’s even a Netflix original so it’s completely irrelevant it’s a CW show and Netflix is not involved it’s not their decision to renew it for new seasons

I can feel that this adaptation will mess up the Six of Crows. Like why do they need to merge the 2 series with different timeline??
I’m hesitantly excited. I’m already disappointed by Nina’s casting, however. In the books, she’s extremely curvaceous, physically heavy, and slightly fat, but the woman they cast for the show is thin. I feel like they really missed an opportunity to be more inclusive with the casting.
Nina was never described as "extremely" curvaceous or slighty fat. She was described as curvy and that's it. Fans started painting Nina as fat and everyone just accepted it. Also the actor is NOT thin as you can see in this picture she is curvy and she is beautiful

I kinda got the image that she's fat+bottom heavy, which is kinda how I look, and it made my feel so good like reading her gave me so much confidence. And the actor isn't like that :((+

As someone who didn't like the shadow and bon book series I'm actually really intrigued and excited for the show! It seems that they are trying to make up for some of the tropyness in the books and mix it up a little and I'm excited to see how that works out

Aaaaaaaaarghhh... I don’t know how to feel😭 I really can’t imagine whyyy they put the six of crows gang in with the grisha trilogy.... it is no secret that the grisha trilogy wasn’t super great story wise all the time (I’m listening to the second audiobook again at the moment and it’s not super brilliant if we’re honest) but six of crows is already really well paced and a rather compact story if you were to only put the first book in one season and condense it a bit. So yeah I guess I’m a bit disappointed that they’re not trying to just make soc its own thing. They can mess around with the grisha trilogy for all I care but I’m scared for my crows,,, Anyway I love the cast they are all amazing and I have high hopes for their performances, I just don’t want this to end like Shadowhunters.... thanks for coming to my Ted talk

The designer who stitched the crow-feather design on Kaz's gloves is literally my favorite person on the earth now. Like, that takes time and commitment to stitch, and she saw something that would fit for the character and did it for them. I honestly don't think I can wait until April 23rd

I never actually read the books but the series sounds so good! I think I will leave them for after I finish the show so I will suffer less while waiting for season 2. It's almost here!!
Shadowr and bornes
Introducing SoC characters from the beginning makes sense. Like if they adapted the trilogy for 2-3 seasons, then went "well all your main characters are gone, care about these new people now". That wouldn't work.
Oh I think we'll see Ketterdam too, Budapest could work for both and they probably filmed in studios and sets as well. There's a film studio outside of the city. And they definitely filmed outside of Budapest too, I saw a call for extras for ball scenes and stuff in a castle in the countryside during the time they were shooting. It didn't say it was for the show but that is was a Netflix production and we don't have a lot of those here so.
Thanks for this. Lots of detail 🙃 The production company is more important than the publisher. The unevenness on Netflix is because they work with production companies from all over the world. Don’t assume the writer doesn’t have much input. It depends the contract.
