I guess cause he is going on some tangents that are just super irrelevant, also he doesnt edit which becomes an issue when you run into problems (foggy window), defrosting too loud, and he doesnt use good equipment to shoot the video, resp. doesnt have the camera mounted but keeps it wobbling in his hand while filming fog on his window. I know, this is not supposed to be DougDeMuro production value, but I figured since you are asking I'd give a few examples. I guess Bill's channel is as underrated as the 996 itself. Excellent review. I own this 03 model (in selver with 4-wheel drive and satnav system) for 10 years now and to me it is a great looking car (despite the opinions of many Porsche traditionalists) and a hell of a driving machine. So much fun and as you say perfectly balanced between a comfy daily driver and almost a racecar (when you're revving the gears on the German Autobahn it sounds a little bit like Le Mans...). I recommend to first warm it up a little bit before you go 'full throttle', but I agree with you: These cars are made for driving. One small addition on the interior: The cupholder is a perfect example of German and especially Porsche ingenuity. After pushing the bar and flipping it outside you can pull the end of the black plastic even further and reveal a second cupholder with a flexible opening fitting every size of cup. It's this attention to detail that makes these cars unique in their practicality.
Still waiting to meet an "A-Hole Purist". I joined my local PCA and went to my first meet with my 996 with a little concern- I was welcomed with open arms and actually was offered a free wind deflector (which I had in the ""Frunk")! Great group of folks and have made a bunch of new friends. Lots of fun for the family. Taking my son to watch an Autocross in Texas next weekend! Enjoy your 996!

2000-2005 996 have the most IMS failures. Its equipped with a single row ball bearing IMS bearing. It needs to be monitored by cutting the oil filter opened every oil change if you don’t upgrade the IMS bearing. It was a Porsche class action suit which they lost.

So, some of your viewers think the IMS thing is a money-making racket. So why did Porsche settle a class action suit in 2013? Think about it, take all the time you need.
I own a 1999 Porsche 911 and this video helps alleviate my fears about the IMS shaft bearing and that the much maligned 996 is still a fine car and not the "piece of junk" it has been made out to be on the internet. I feel better about my purchase and my car has been running flawlessly. I understand the 1999 911 has the "dual row" IMS shaft bearing which is reportedly less prone to causing engine damage, can anyone confirm this about the dual row bearing?

Nothing fails without warning. People just miss and/or ignore or put off warning signs for a number of reasons. If your 996 failed, it was from any number of ways that it was abused, either from you or from previous owners. Lack of driving and just sitting for many, many months at a time is even a form of abuse. Porsche know sports cars. If this was a problem that wasn't owner inflicted, production on that style of design would of come to a screeching halt, I believe around 99' ........but it didn't did it ? No, it forged ahead, because these designers knew it wasn't a problem for those who took care of their Porsche.
There ya go. Take notice everyone, "Old bearing looked like new" . I'm telling you, the whole thing is a racket. The only people that will tell you it's a problem are the ones that can profit from it. Racket : An illegal or dishonest scheme for obtaining money.

Bill's remarks about the IMS issue betray his ignorance on the subject in addition to his obvious lack of knowledge on things mechanical. Porsche lost a class action for compensation to Porsche owners whose engines were destroyed because of this intermediate shaft bearing's failures. Attempting to make comical sarcasm is a cheap attempt at humour at the expense of owners who have lost significant amounts of money because of the massive depreciation in 996 models. And it is this depreciation that makes the 996 so attractive to potential buyers who are persuaded by people like Bill to fall into this potential money trap.
