Growing up in the great city of Ibadan.....this was one of the best music played at every birthday parties then...such a memorable times....LONG LIVE THE KING!
I was born the year this song was released. I gre up listening to it and it is one of the albums that send me to Planet Tranquility.
This song reminds me of my parents on our commutes between Ibadan and Ikirun back then. Walahi Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey are national treasures.
Thank you Sunny Ade for your dedication in promoting Yoruba culture through creative work of music. You have use your music to bring joy into people's life.

This is not a song, this is a work for thorough study in the rhythm and melody of this very good one groove music.
Thanks so much for this. September 1979, just before the inception of the Nigerian Second Republic, released at the same time as Fela's STB: Sorrows, Tears and Blood. This record was the very first release from the now-defunct Haruna Ishola's Phonodisk label, whose main producer was Odion Iruoje. The label would release Kris Okotie's I Need Someone, what I once called Nigeria's equivalent of MJ's Off the Wall, in 1980. The chorus line now sounds quite slipshod to me but, oh time, what the heck!
This is Sunny Ade gently rebuking the military of their harakiri method of doing things in Nigeria.

L'homme s'appelle Sunny Adé. King de son rang. Il a les doigts de fée et joue admirablement la guitare. Comme le commandant Obey Ebenezer, il fait partie des grands guitaristes de sa génération. Très acro à la Juju music dont il est un des grands artisans, Sunny trône dans le style au coeur du yorouba land, au Nigéria où il est né et vit paisiblement. Sa musique a fait plusieurs fois le tour du monde et deménage grave dans les ambiances de nuits chaudes africaines.
