Clip on this pen is actually glowing, but there are just no orcs around you! :)
Thank you, David. As always - excellent review!
This has to be one of the coolest videos you’ve ever done. I’m glad you didn’t disappear when you put the ring on!
Rich man's novelty... Thank you for reviewing this so that curious people like me has the chance to have a detail look.
Loved the special effect! The nib of the pen & it's box too. With respect, what a handsome bearded man you are, David. Thank you for another very enjoyable & thorough pen review.
Loved the Gollum voiceover!
Wow!! Thank you for the review! Fantastic!!
absolutely astonishing Pen. I´m a Fan of Tolkien´s Books and the films. Superb details, and as always great review. Thanks David
One pen to rule them all
Wow! Those details....so beautiful
I love the individual details of the pen but I don’t know how much I like it all on one pen. It’s a cool looking pen nonetheless. Great review!
Thanks for this ultra precious review, David :) Your "my precious" effect was really nicely-added, and I agree with a previous comment that a disappearance effect would have been a nice surprise. All your reviews have been of great value, and your efforts to produce them show, but this one was especially spectacular. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
I like how much fun you had with this fountain pen. It would be a dream come true to have. This pen.
Thank you, David.
I dig the special effects :)
You should've disappeared when you put it on (would've been a nice edit...)
The pen is not for me, but crazy detailed, sure someone will enjoy it.
Maybe he is Tom Bombadil in disguise. The ring has no power over him.
By the time of the story in the books/movies, Sauron was a disembodied spirit due to the ring being lost when Isildur struck it from his hand with Narsil. The alliance of Men and Elves thought Sauron had actually died, but after Isildur lost the ring in an ambush, Gandalf thought Sauron had regained his power in the fortress in the Mirkwood, and that the One Ring had been found, hence why he left the dwarves and Bilbo after staying with Beorn in the Hobbit. Anyway, Sauron's disembodied state was the same in both the books and the films. Beautiful pen, so exquisitely detailed.
Tolkien states otherwise in letter 246:
“Sauron should be thought of as very terrible. The form he took was that of a man of more than human stature, but not gigantic.”
This is specifically in a discussion of what a direct confrontation at the end of Return of the King would have been like, so he definitely has a physical form at that point.
I really wanted to hear “and a giveaway” in your intro. Dang.
W H A O W ! ! ! This must have Lord of the Rings people foaming at the mouth.
I really loved the DvDs and the lavish production of the films had me longing for something related to the Lord of The Rings...however, not this as it is far out of my money pocket... But the pen is a stunning creation and a fantastic thing to own... the gold ones at 47,000 are something that folks just wont belive..." How Much...for a pen !!! " I enjoy sharing those kinds of details with the bic people...
Great review as always David,,, Loved the special effects...
Best wishes to all PenPeople

Ah! a spoonerism. Quite the juxtaposition for a gentleman associated with the written words as opposed to the spoken. What an enigma you are Figboot. Wp gg.
연기실력이 늘으셨네ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Thankfully Graf Von Faber Castell large boxes have drawer or removable lower compartment that can be used as top shelf for 6/8 pens.
Entertaining review.
I would have expected the use and care guide to be written in Quenya, as expensive as this pen is. I only wish I could easily afford one. That's the most beautiful pen I've ever seen.
Meanwhile, back in the Shire, caught your Nemosine review just in time. They're closing out, picked up a couple dirt cheap.
I've been looking at a different Montegrappa limited edition, I am worried about the weight though. Is it difficult to write with it, posted or unposted?
Hah & thanks! Loved the part with ring! 🧙🏻♂️😅 I have Montegrappa Paradiso btw.
Nice ink choice.
Thank you for the review, OK I now have a New Grail pen beautiful for sure.
Instructions should be in Sindarin written in a Tengwar script
I wish I could afford this! It so detailed.
Not my taste, frankly. I have been a big Tolkien fan and follower since the mid 60's but I have no interest in this. I would love, on the other hand, to see someone imagine a pen the way elves might have made them (not a quill pen but something elegant using modern materials) or even how dwarves might have made them (solid and precious). But thanks for the detailed look at the pen.
Is that a world record for largest box for a fountain pen ever?
$47,000
OH LAWD!!
Super cool though
David, loved the review, as always. but i really wish you showed more of the small details into the pen. but i guess not all of us can be such Tolkien nerds to actually try to use that to write in quenya.
You spoke of the green stone that alings with the nib, that is surrounded by snakes heads and leaves. That is a freference to the Ring of Barahir, that ring belonged to one of the Elven kings of the first age (LotR happens in the 3rd age) to Barahir, a direct ancestor of Both Aragorn and Elrond, and it was part of the heriloom of the kings of men from before Gondor was even built, and it symbolized the friendship between men and elves. The ring was given to Aragorn alongside with Anduril, the sword of Elendil, when he accepted his destiny to figth the shadow and claim the crown of Gondor.
heres a more detailed page about that ring if anyone is interested.

sorry for my broken english greetings from latin america!

The problem with this pen is that it contains over 20 different specific references. If I was to have explained them all, then the review would have been a half-hour long. I had to pick and choose. Thanks for watching.
That should be made coz' the eye is perfect for something like a pen, and they did:-)
youre right, David. that's not a pen for everyone.
I'm astonished by how much stuff is produced and bought nowadays just for the sake of fanboyery...
Instructions in Entish would’ve been cool lol
you're an excellent reviewer, however it's shocking to me that they would risk sending you this pen to review when they can do it themselves and especially allowing you to ink it, no disrespect but a pen that is almost $5000 on loan to be reviewed? wow
If I was a wealthy man I would own this pen.
Same.
I also dislike the tendency to use large, wasteful and opulent pen boxes.
David--I thought you might have been one of the few who could read the Elvish 😂
You spend that much you better get as many boxes as possible
That beard though
how many migraines did you get researching this pen? i can only imagine all the lord of the ring jerks who were ready to pounce the moment you missed some minute detail that only an obsessed fan would know about and i'm sure you were hyper aware of how you pronounced the terms too
I just came here to start a fight. THE MOVIES WERE BETTER THAN THE BOOK. Thank you for your time. 😁
the beauty of the books is the backstories behind every stone and doorknob in the world Tolkien made, and that does make for a somewhat boring and complicated book; the movies had to water down heavilly. they Work differently, just like Les Misserables; theres a difference between a XiXth century book to a XX!st century movie. i love them both for different reasons, and they are both great.

XD
someone share this to Stephen Colbert! He would be ecstatic!
Какая то низкая детализация - слабое исполнение
There really should be a competition for the ugliest pen.
Montegrappa already has several entries in that competition.
Meh lol
Wow, that's the ugliest pen ever!
One of the ugly pens, I’m afraid. Very amusing review that I enjoyed a lot though.
