    Thanks for the update. Glad all of the debris is gone, and the poor turtle is ok, and you didn’t get your boots flooded. Got a feeling this is not the last time we’ll see of this site! Be well!! ❤

      Unfortunately when I walked upstream, I flooded both boots! That will be in the next video coming out later this week.

    Good follow up, really shows the difference after your hard work on clearing the stream side of the culvert. That's some drop in level too looking at the mud that is now exposed. Good to know that Mr Turtle survived ok. Thanks for all the videos on this culvert, been very interesting watching your progress.

    Thanks so much for the update! Since I live on the edge of the Great Plains, a thousand miles from anything resembling a tide, I was courious as to what the tidal flow would look like and what effect it would have

    • @Gertyutz
      @Gertyutz Před 9 měsíci +1

      I live not far from the river. The lower half of the river is actually a tidal estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, so it has 2 tides per day , changing the direction of the flow. In some areas, the river is over a mile wide, very impressive.

    Thank you very much for taking the time to show the incoming tide. It completes the picture and experience. One more question if I may, given that the tides are involved with thriving and falling of the water this means that the sea is mot far off
    In this case is the water part salty and should have some sea water fish?

    • @Grab_your_Waders
      @Grab_your_Waders  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I believe I'm about 150 miles up from where the river exits into the sea, so I'm not sure how much the salinity elevates this far up. I do know that Stripers(Atlantic striped bass) come up the river to this area every year to spawn and some of them are huge! Here is a link with more info: www.dec.ny.gov/lands/4923.html

    Stupid question, how long does it take for the tide to come in or go out? Our wheat fields in Kansas do t have tides! 😅

    • @Grab_your_Waders
      @Grab_your_Waders  Před 10 měsíci +1

      In most coastal areas around the world, there are two tidal cycles (meaning 2 low tides and 2 high tides) over the course of what is called a lunar day (24 h and 50 min), creating a gap of approximately 6 hours and 12 minutes between each low tide and high tide.

  • @nancyniewoehner7881

    How high does high tide water get?

    • @Grab_your_Waders
      @Grab_your_Waders  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Here the river rises and falls about 5 feet. When I was there it was 1.5 hours before high tide peaked which would have brought the water up about another foot and a half where I was standing.
