- To all 3 western Seihou fans, this one is for you! And to everyone else, imagine a series like Touhou, but it takes place in the west, has far future elements, and is about a robot maid fighting enemies. Sounds interesting doesn't it? To those who say no then uhhhhh oops, but to those who say yeah, Seihou Project is gonna be a BIG ride, from Shuushou Gyoku to Kioh Gyoku to Banshiryuu and VIVIT-99, you better prepare yourself mentally for this epical journey. (Spoiler alert, Reimu appears in here somewhere.)

Funny enough, the word robot itself comes from the Czech word _robota_ meaning slave. Robots can't catch a break in any setting, can they?

Seihou has alot of potential and it is interesting.
There seems to be a spiritual successor called Samidare that features non-copyright infringing versions of Yuki and Mai. There's another one in development called SUPER MATE MATE LASER but it's taking a while, to put it lightly.

There are actually 3 versions of Seihou Banshiryuu.
The Comiket 67 version, the Comiket 74 version and version 3.001, which was never dumped online, but you can still buy it digitally.
Did you know that Ponchi was responsible for helping ZUN with the engine for EoSD? Which means that probably some of the code used for Seihou was recycled for EoSD!
The Seihou series had played a much more important role than what people give it credit for.
Basically, the ECL format (Enemy Control Language, which is a script, which controls the stages, enemies, their pattern, ect.) was first used in Seihou and is still in use by ZUN today. So basically every Touhou game by ZUN has still some code from Seihou.
There's also ZUN reusing a riff from SSG's extra stage music for Theme of Eastern Story, as well as Reimu and Marisa's modern designs first appearing there!
I will never not be bothered by the fact that there this is a thing because it is just confusing as heck, especially because the third version is literally called "Version 3". How do these three even relate to each other?
@@lpfan4491 I'm not sure what's in Version 3 since I've never heard of it, but the C67 version is more Touhou-like with its story structure (game stops for dialogue, big portraits talk to each other) and C74 has nonstop gameplay with a shortened story being told on the top of the screen before boss fights. There's also changed attack patterns, updated music, new music, and an extra stage boss rush with the casts of Seihou 1 and 2.

Marisa, Reimu, Yuuka in seihou world are different. Marisa have two wings, Reimu have two goheis, and Yuuka well when you guys use spellcard she have four wings. (Three of theme spell card are no different that spell card we know)

i just found out that this is the close thing we will ever get to playing as a male in a official touhou game
This is the first I've heard this series by name but I recall seeing this maid character before (used to visit various forums back in the golden web surfing days).
And I have to say I already find the idea of a robot maid just as appealing as a maid who can stop time.

reimu and marisa’s designs feel like some kind of missing link between their pc98 and windows designs, it’s really interesting to see!
marisa notably has wings in this game (imo they look like flandre’s wings but fully white though it’s hard to tell) and i wonder if that was a scrapped design element or ZUN gave them to her in one game for fun

It's eerie that Sora/Suguri somewhat draws parallels to this in terms of plots and concepts. Notable difference really is that the Sora/Suguri games are more serious in tone and especially Sora ends in a downer.
That said, there has been a term coined for games/series like this where it's:
A.) A Predominately Female/Male Cast
B.) Everyone has some powers and/or technology
C.) In some sort of reality not too estranged from ours but fantastical in nature.
D.) Optional: Bullet Hell Mechanics
We get games/series as Touhou, Seihou, Sora/Suguri and... funnily enough... Rabi-Ribi and RosenkreuzStilette... there's probably more examples than this but yeah.
Its amusing how Touhou is more western than Seihou, and Seihou its the most anime-esque out of the two.

Emm...Im not sure but...your missed 1 seihou game but this is really underrated, the game its Call Samidare, its short but...i recommend look information about this story because, thats include vivit and gates
Samidare belongs to Project Blank, which is another series by another developer called RebRank (which also branched from Amusement Makers)

I didn't like this video, there is more things to tell about Seihou than this. There is a FIFTH game in the series, called RAGNUS X DOCKING. It's about Lagunas and Yuuta that do... hmm, docking in space, and their ships are signed as "SEME" and "UKE", yes, this game is a yaoi joke (yes, Yuuta is a boy). It would be also nice to mention that Shuusou Gyoku originally was supposed to be a game about a flying and shooting cactus (also it has an unreleased prototype that features ZUN's lost track, Frontal Attack).

Isn't it called Saboten energy, that what it was shown in the touhou soccer game animation when VIVIT did her special attack. Also Eric look suspiciously like Stuck from Giga Wings

You're right, I guess it's just a case where they used the English romanized pronunciation of the term instead of just Cactus plain and simple
