Thank you for this video. I have enjoyed learning about the bison and they seem very majestic and beautiful animals. The painted camel is also lovely. Unfortunately I don't think we can have bison or camels here in Northern Ireland.
Very educational. I often substitute bison for ground beef in tomato sauces, lasagnes and in making burgers. It's a bit pricier but well worth it for the flavour and health benefits!!
Cross breeding woods and plains bison is not good for bison as a conservation standpoint. They are 2 seperate subspecies. They evolved to be different for a reason, and in the wild they did not cross breed. Wood bison were native to Alaska and upper Canada. Where the plains bison were native to the southern plains. But all in all, from a commercial stand point, I think your doing a good thing.
White Buffalo Calf Woman came to the Sioux people ( Lakota/Dakota/Nakota) and brought them the Seven Sacred Rites one being she brought the Sacred Buffalo Pipe (channupa) to be used for prayer, sealing agreements etc... She said she would return one day when the sign of the return of the white buffalo.
Thank you for sharing. I’m relocating to NC next year. I plan on Bison ranching in the state. The NC extension doesn’t address stocking rates specifically for Bison. What are NC stocking rates for Bison?

White bison are mostly mixed with domestic cattle - a cardinal sin in raising bison.
