I was actually surprisingly glad with this movie. I felt that Rosaline’s feminism was well depicted- she didn’t hate all men- and she was imperfect and had character development . Dario also didn’t let her walk all over him even though he supported her ambition. They had such chemistry. I enjoyed this film.
think he became interested from the moment she told her father that she wanted to be a free woman! The first to fall was him...when he tells him to believe in him and when he takes the hair out of his face...so loving🤣🤣😍😍
Right??? All he said to her after getting with her cousin was “get a grip” and then they hug and he sails away with her cousin. I wanted a better apology but I still like the movie.
@@shanas1961 the movie was good overall but that was my only qualm. I felt like rosaline should have been owed an explanation especially after her writing all those letters. I did like the ending though because it felt like karma. She sure dodged a bullet lol
Romeo had nothing to apologize to Rosaline for. Please do not take this story as the original play simply told from a different character's viewpoint. Rosaline refused Romeo's suit before the play even began because she had taken a vow of virginity. She was not interested in him and would not have been in the least bothered that he respected her decision and married another woman. This film is a completely different story. Not that Shakespeare would mind; he took old stories and rewrote them in very different directions all the time. But the important difference is that he never claimed his work was true to the source material, whereas this one states it is still 'the love story you know' just with additional detail, when in fact the story of Romeo and Juliet themselves is altered by changing Rosaline to Romeo's ex-girlfriend (a concept that did not exist in the sixteenth century) rather than a girl who refused him.
I want to thanks you because I really wasn't thrilled by this movie. I mean, I'm such a big fan of Romeo and Juliet, of the book for starter, but also of the 1996' movie so I watch all adaptations. But for this one, I was afraid of seeing a stupid movie (like not my kind of "humor") where we see a girl being jealous for almost 2 hours but your video really convinced me to watch it, so thanks. Plus, I like the actor who plays Dario and didn't know he was in it.
You thought this was a stupid movie cause the girl was jealous for half of it, but you liked the story of boy and girl who kill each other because they “love” each other for a few days?…ok
@@deannaford2813 No I didn't thought it was a stupid movie because she's jealous, I thought it was a stupid movie and that she was jealous half of it, two things that are boring to me. What I call a stupid movie is just the kind of humor in it, that's all. In the sense that I passed the age, the time of my life, where I found it funny and where I enjoyed watching this kind of humor, now it seems a little childish to me. So there are some where it's okay and I still like it but when it's too much in this humor, there I don't like it at all, I don't hang on to the film. Then I didn't say I agreed with the story, of course I'm not a fan of the idea of killing yourself for someone you barely know, or even have known for a long time, by the way. But I am a lover of literature and Shakespeare remains a king of romantic tragedy and Romeo and Juliet one of his finest works.
@@deannaford2813 Just a side note: they didn't kill each other. Each of them killed themselves. And the reason for their death was a hateful unjust family feud that denied them the freedom to marry who they loved rather than the fact of that love itself. You might want to re-read the original to check your facts before comparing it unfavourably to this spinoff. Which is based on another inconsistency with the original play: Rosaline never wanted to be Romeo's 'girlfriend' and refused his suit before he even met Juliet. So there's also that.
@@mishynaofficial You clearly never read the original or didn't understand Shakespeare's language well enough to understand it if you think Romeo and Juliet were intended to be stupid and 'deserve' to die. You don't have to like them or their romance if it's not your thing, but they died because of an evil feud, NOT because they were stupid. That is literally the plot: feuds kill innocent people and destroy their chance at love. I have taught English literature for years and Shakespeare is my specialism, so I will not accept people stating changeable opinions as literary facts. Whether you like R&J is your opinion and cannot be stated as fact; whether or not the author wrote them as stupid, as Shakespeare did not, is literary facts that can be proven from the plot. You cannot rewrite the story to mean something else and claim it is the same story Shakespeare wrote: that is disrespect to the author.

100% agree! Loved it
I know right
Feminists hate all men? Sice when?
I agree 💯 with everything you said she made a cute couple with Dario plus he’s a FOX! ❤

This was beautifully made. It was so much fun to see their love story progress.
i was reading romeo and juliet for english class and bro this movie came up before my exam and it definitely was really good
I loved this movie Because of these two
Yes! They are very great and funny couple ❤️

Right??? All he said to her after getting with her cousin was “get a grip” and then they hug and he sails away with her cousin. I wanted a better apology but I still like the movie.
Not really! I felt like it was fitting. Romeo was a jerk and when you got to the bottom of his character he was pretty shallow.

Rosalie & Dario > Romeo & Juliet. R&J are so stupid in the original, on purpose, of course, because they needed to be dead, couldn't stand them.
