    The first movement is my absolute most beloved peace of music ever. The fugue theme is strong, and the counterpoint is just as the best example as it could be, especially the first bars of violin + cello so different in movement and melody.

      Aha it's my 4th day playing violin and I'm playing the main theme that starts in the 1st movement. I've played guitar since 1995 so I guess violins up for grabs with guitar players, just need to work on tone production and I'll be able to record the symphonies I've written once I get in with the cello and maybe viola if I need to

    The second movement is like two rivers, sourced as one, flowing independently near each other - when one is brimming full, the other is silent and when the other starts to tide, the former retreats. At some points they do meet and then they continue to flow independently, finally falling into the sea. Bach was truly a gift of God

      Interesting, it is also my favorite passage, I also had fun memory of playing with my teacher and I was second violin, while I was immersed in the music and enjoying the moment, my teacher keep telling me that I was playing too fast, and I was sure I was keeping time, and she reminded me that she was playing 16th notes like a metronome, that was the end of the argument

      Yes, the left group is the soloists (two violins) and the right group is the concerto (violins I, violins II, violas, bass-line + figures). The basso continuo is played by cello or bass viol instruments (for instance the viola d'amore) and the harpsichord (or for instance lute instruments) which play/s chords indicated by the figures under the staff.

    Yeyeye I know music is subjective and as an artform it's beauty may be interpreted in many ways, but anyone can fucking write like Mozart or Beethoven. They wrote beautifull things but it is the same complexity like all modern music: chord progression with focus on the texture of instrumentation (which is difficult to mess up).
    But Bach, to write like him requires not only skill but mastery of counterpoint. It requires a lot of fucking knowledge.

      The thing is he can't. All of Bach's works were put into manuscripts in the mid 20th century and the resolution of those documents are poor. Furthermore, gerubach zooms in so that the music fits the screen. This makes the quality what it is. Personally it doesn't bother me.

    • @Maplaplaplapla
      @Maplaplaplapla Před 5 lety +4

      @@nazaracanreapit This is ridiculous, frankly. The quality of the manuscripts has absolutely nothing to do with what resolution these videos are uploaded in. And if that mattered, it's not as if remastered editions of Bach's works weren't printed any more. (Though I don't know if it's a principle of this channel to use as original sheet music as possible.) And to top it all, you just ignored the fact that the comment was about SOUND quality, not video quality.
      (The original comment is misinformed as well, though, as CZcams's audio quality caps at 480p; at that video quality the audio track is the exact same as in 1080p60.)

    • @nazaracanreapit
      @nazaracanreapit Před 5 lety

      @@Maplaplaplapla Although there are many new editions of manuscripts, the Bach Gesellschaft manuscripts are the most commonly used. When the score is enlarged to fit one measure across the entire screen, it's resolution will suffer. Also, I did not address sound quality because every other response agrees with me in that the sound is perfectly adequate. I was merely explaining why the video is and has to be in 360p.
