- Long time no see everybody! Welcome back! Come along with me tonight as I photograph a nebula that is unlike ANYTHING I have photographed before. I will take you with me on this journey of photographing the Lion Nebula from my backyard, and fill you in on what you need to know about the space astrophotography target. Thanks Greg :) I was hoping on going there earlier this year but it was a conflict with my schedule at the time sadly. Will you be at Cherry Springs next year? I was there last year and despite the conditions we had there it was an awesome first time.

Thanks for the sub man, this goes a long way. And yeah, the lion nebula is AWESOME! I might need a slightly more narrow filter for that oiii to get it to look a little better, I’ll definitely be doing it next year!

Very nice work! Nice job pulling the O3 out. I wasn’t expecting the yellow, but it looks good in the image. This is a target I would like to get this year but there’s so many on my list it’s hard to choose- especially with Orion coming back. Looking forward to more of your work!

Nice video Tanner. Your final image shows more Oxygen III than I would have expected. Looks good. I love the Optolong L-eNhance filter ... one of my favorites. I too watch Trevor Jones's backyard astronomy channel and get a lot of great information from him. Clear skies, Tanner.

Thanks Patrick! And oh yeah, the L-eNhance is amazing! I do wish it was a little more narrow for the Oiii bandpass but it still works amazing nonetheless :)

I almost went to the cherry springs star party, but the weather called for only 1 clear night. Not worth the long drive. CS..
Thank you dude! I’ll definitely keep them coming that’s for sure :) And yeah, when I went to cherry springs earlier this year the weather didn’t call for clear skies at all with the smoke but we got very lucky with the weather
Going to a dark site for AP this weekend and I was looking for good narrowband targets to test my new L-Ultimate on. This one definitely fits the bill! Great job on the final image!

I think even in dark skies using OSC its worth getting exposures with UV/IR filter for the stars, dark nebulae and some dust and then optimize your emission gathering with a dual narrowband filter.
That is something I also need need to learn and take time to shoot uv/ir.

The best bortle I've ever shot in was in fact Cherry Springs! I've been to darker but I didn't image there at the time. I've been in a bortle 0 before.
