  • Since the war in Ukraine and Western sanctions, Russia has shifted its supply of gas eastwards, from Europe to China. The gas pipeline going to China runs for thousands of kilometres through remote regions of Siberia. A team of Russian journalists followed this route to find out what life is like for ordinary Russians, far from the conflict.

    this was straight out propaganda.
The fact is the money from the gas being sent to China is being used to finance the infrastructure projects and development of the big cities.
Russia is the largest country in the world, so of course it must prioritize developing the major city centers first before the small rural communities.
If you go to the big cities you will see tonnes of construction everywhere, new buildings, roads, highways, hospitals, schools.
These people chose to live in small rural communities that is why they are not benefiting as much as the people in the big cities.
If you go anywhere in any country from Australia, United States and Canada and look at their rural communities close to where they are extracting their natural resources is exactly the same story.
As a matter of these people are lucky they have running water, electricity power.
In Canada, US and Australia in many of their rural communities, specially their indigenous communities they don't even have that.
Furthermore, There were 4 million Ethnic Russians under siege and daily bombardment by the Ukrainian military for 8 years in Eastern Ukraine prior to the war.
The Ukrainians killed thousands upon thousands of them.
These ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine begged and pleaded with the Russian government for help.
Do the makers of this video suggest Russia continued to allow those 4 million Russians get bombarded and live under siege by the Ukrainian military?
What exactly was Russia supposed to do if the Ukrainian military was vent on ethnic cleansing and committing genocide on those 4 million Ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine?
Specially after Russia attempted to solve the conflict peacefully after signing 2 Minsk agreements with Ukraine to end the war which Ukraine refused to abide by.
Specially after Russia was ready to sign a peace agreement in Istanbul 2 months after the war began with Ukraine refused to sign to end the war.

To be honest these small villages are hundreds of kilometers apart and are the in world harshest climates and most of the world isn't developed as these Siberian Russians are. ARTE TV is a French-German public channel so it’s hardly any surprise to see a video from them that is trying to creat a “anti Russian gas pipeline to China” rhetoric especially for the Russian audience and they aren’t the only one as there are multiple Russian based European media groups that are doing this as well
This is not to refute the Russian individuals that will be effected by this project and belittle their concerns (even tho i would argue pros of this project outweigh its cons)

You may say it's unfair, but that's capitalism. You don't get allocated resources in quota, you have to pay market rate for it. It's weird to complain about the inefficiencies of the Soviet system and then complain about the unfairness of capitalism.

Neutral, this was straight out propaganda.

Typical grant propaganda. Who pays for the trip, for the operators, for the installation, for translation into foreign languages? Everything should have profitability. In Switzerland, too, there are villages without gas heating and centralized communications. Some Soviet-old people used to go to the toilet in the yard. That's how they walk. They don't want to spend a thousand bucks on a bio-toilet. Especially those who lead a marginal life. The village is dying out due to natural causes. All over the world. There are whole cities somewhere. With the advent of the new economy, enterprises become unnecessary, they close, people leave, young people leave. Such devastation can be filmed in the central USA.

In the heart of a family, once bound by the illusion of harmony, lived Grandpa Vladimirovich.
Behind the drawn curtains of his dilapidated mansion, amidst the decaying splendor, he felt consumed by oppressive paranoia and a distorted sense of self-importance. His mind, entangled in a labyrinth of suspicions and perverted ideas, saw himself as the true heir to a destiny full of wealth, power and unconditional authority.
Grandpa Vladimirovich portrayed his family, with their humble lives and modest aspirations, as jealous enemies seeking to overthrow him. Their independent spirit, their freedom from the shackles of his narrowminded norms, their prosperity earned by honest labor, he considered nothing more than hostile threats and humiliations aimed at undermining his desired place as their inevitable leader.
With diabolical cunning, he wove a tapestry of deceit and intimidation, poisoning the well of trust and sowing discord among his unsuspecting victims. His relatives, their hearts gripped by fear and the weight of his power, relinquished their inheritances, their voices silenced under the oppressive boot of his ambition.
Armed with a formidable arsenal of weapons, military capacity, and an insatiable thirst for power, he embarked on a relentless campaign to seize his family's possessions and solidify his position as their lifelong overlord.
Yet, amidst this tide of subjugation, a few, their spirits unbroken, refused to bend to Grandpa Vladimirovich's will. Their solid integrity in the face of his greed and manipulation, they recognized the injustice of his actions, their disgust and steadfast principles inspiring their resolve to resist.
As Grandpa Vladimirovich's behavior grew more erratic and his actions more shameless, the family began to distance themselves from him, their hearts heavy with sorrow and disappointment. They saw in him a reflection of their deepest fears, a man consumed by his own delusions, willing to trample upon the lives of those who had once friendly welcomed him into their world.
Hold on and don’t despair. Live another day to fight for your freedom, justice, and human rights.
