'South Tynedale Railway' 40th Anniversary Steam Special BARBER & GREEN DRAGON 16/09/23

The Wonderful south tynedale Railway held its 40th Anniversary of the opening of it's narrow gauge railway at Alston back in the autumn of last year, only managed to catch the last trip of the day double heading with Green Dragon and Barber steam locomotives, Barber is an oil burner Steam loco . don't miss all the action and well worth a visit to the area, been going to edit this video for a while but forgot all about it .

Beautifully filmed record of this delightful railway in the magnificent North Pennines. I seriously doubt that it will ever reach Haltwhistle although I hope I’m proved wrong. All of the efforts of the volunteers and supporters over the past 46 years are to be commended in getting it this far.

Walked down that line when I did the Pennine Journey a while ago, don't think any trains were running that day. Remember the stations well.

Watched the line extend over the years, now the terminus is Slaggyford and is a beautifull station to visit . 👍

Nice one Steve. Whenever I go they only seem to run a diesel - was told steam only runs if a crew appears.

Thanks Les, its a shame its not the most accessible railway, but do run steam if staff available, phone call a must as i went to find it shut although the web said it was open, was told it was on facbook . 🤔

Change of policy it is steam every Saturday and Sunday through the summer unless their is a failure. :-)
