Various visual and lyrical references here. "Toryanse" is a children's song which is basically explained on English-language wiki. This song's lyrics make reference to it. In the press blurb that came out it says the music is inspired by Brazilian phonk. Some of the dancing is clearly influenced by the "Yosakoi" style from Japan. The "gambatte gambatte" ("keep trying", "do your best") at the beginning is a Japanese word, but the way it's rendered sounds like a take-off that was a fad for a while in Japan of the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team's haka, specifically the "kamate kamate" verse. There are visual puns too, quite clever vdo.

“Toryanse” is played at crosswalks to indicate it’s safe to walk. I think? this is the same tune but jazzed up a lot. There is also a children’s game like “London bridge” where two kids form an arch with the others walking through while singing Toryanse and the child caught under the arch at the song’s end loses.

As always, Japanese groups and bands are even better live! Atarashii Gakko is worth checking out! It's impressive and so much fun!
