    Coach. How do you fit in endurance running during the season? Also fitting in speed work and strength and conditioning? Workouts are mon-thurs and rest Friday and we have track meets on Saturday? Is it too late since the season started to do endurance running?

    • @chasewheels
      @chasewheels  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi, it depends on what you mean by 'endurance running'. It also depends on what point of the season you are in. It's very important to have a goal and a goal date so that you can work backward from there to plan your training. At this date for high school season, it is definitely time to work more speed and significantly less endurance. Strength and conditioning should be lighter weight with really fast compound movements. For college season, its getting time to really refine your workouts for your event and endurance training should also be limited or eliminated. For professionals, their season is just getting started and their season ends much later so its fine to continue getting in track shape as they continue to attend meets.

      @@chasewheels It’s for my daughter. She’s 11 the season has just really started only had 4 meets so far. So as of now her coach has her running the 800m, 400m, 100m. She’s been doing strength and conditioning on Monday and the rest of the week tues-thurs she’s at track practice. She’s been tiring out on her 400m starting at a fast pace but doesn’t have the conditioning to finish strong also for the 800m she’s been tiring out. What is some workouts that I can get her in shape or endurance to make her stronger and more efficient on finishing and keeping a consistent speed. I listen to your ideology on breaking the 400m down into sections. Endurance means long distance running, hills, stairs, beach work strength and conditioning, or just doubling her events by making her do 1600m or for the 400m make her do 800m in practice?

      @@sauceteam6318 thats great I love that you are starting her young. It will pay off a lot. Also because she is so young she has the freedom to try all the events she wants, because as she gets older she will have to focus on whatever her main event will be. I personally would not have her doing 1600m. My philopshy is to train shorter and faster, with more rest in between sets. The way you build sprint endurance is by being smart about total volume in a workout. For example, if I wanted to train endurance for the 400m I would train 2400m total in one workout focused on speed. Sample workout could be 8x300 with 6-8min rest. As well as some training days focused on pure speed. You might enjoy my speed programs which will be linked in the pinned comment. I have a 100m specific program and a 400m specific program. The basic training principles are the same for the 100,200,400 however the reps and sets differ in order to make training event specific. When you get to 800m the training style changes so I do not consider that good for sprints.

    Hey I got a question I never played a sport before but I did track last year for my first time and I ran 11.56 in the 100m and 23.29 in the 200. What do you think I should do to help me improve the most this season.

    • @chasewheels
      @chasewheels  Před 3 měsíci

      Nice those are not bad times. It depends on a lot of things. If you are not doing any other sports and you only have one year of track experience my advice would be to compete in track as much as possible. Join a summer team after you season and try to compete in as many track meets as you can. If you cannot find a summer team then find some open meets that will allow you to compete.

    Would speed capacity work fit into the pre-season portion? If not, how would you work in that sort of workout?

    • @chasewheels
      @chasewheels  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes it would. Pre-season is mostly about building a foundation for speed, which includes speed capacity. An example might be 2x/week speed workouts, 2x/week speed endurance, 2x/week strength/plyometrics/hills. That’s just one example of many ways to train during pre-season

      So, the workouts would look like 6x10x40M or 5x8x50? 😲 That's a lot, isn't it? 😨 (Sincere questions).

    • @chasewheels
      @chasewheels  Před 2 měsíci

      @@Fire_soul1796 Yes that is a lot lol I'm not sure where the miscommunication is but that is not a workout I would suggest. You are right that is too much. One speed workout I enjoy and suggest is 3x3x30. If you need clarity or have any more questions please ask them, no judgement. I also have a speed program link in the pinned comment which will take you through 12 weeks of speed training.

      @chasewheels thanks for providing space to ask questions. I was thinking of workouts with the guidelines of volume that you mentioned. So, with a 2400M cap in the off-season, give or take, those workouts are what I came up with. 😆 3x3x30M sounds much better.
      Is 3x3x40M or 3x3x70M recommended, or no?
      I'll check out the link that you mentioned. Thanks.

    Wait, do i really need spikes to be faster, if so, how much time would it cut off if im running a 12.2 100m without spikes.

    • @chasewheels
      @chasewheels  Před 3 měsíci

      Absolutely! It's hard to say but if I had to guess it would take off about 0.2 seconds from your 100m, possibly getting you into the 11 second range.
