it took me a while to catch up & realize how the cp1 trick was working.
so for anyone that missed it..
the first time he hits cp1 6:35 its a closed room with a door surrounded by blocks. later the blocks are secretly destroyed & the door is covered by the launcher at 15:00 to make the trick work, theres a hidden cp2 along the path. the hint at 14:05 shows theres a tanooki in the pit at 14:37 but it was really cp2 with a tanooki suit. looking carefully at 17:34 you can see how the jumpers and the checkpoint just line up perfectly with the lava, to keep from falling in the lava but still grab the checkpoint & keeping it hidden.
i guess the tanooki sound effect just covers the check point sound effect.

i wrote the comment before i got that far in the video, but the part that confused me was thinking there was 3 checkpoints. the explanation in the video just says how the blocks were destroyed, which was coincidently the part i didnt cover. so yeah

Oh *that's* what the level was called. Ngl I got the name reference but once it got to the similar trolls I completely blanked on it until I saw this comment. I was quite literally carlBlind
Plus, it took him ages to recognize anything at all. It was really cool how it was so similar yet with all those subtle differences, by the way.
Stuff like this is why I wish we could download levels in this game. I really wanna see that cp setup on the first level in game, instead of the creator having to send a picture of it to Carl :P
There are upsides to not being able to download levels, I think it would be best if it was an option for the creator to select when uploading

@@mcredcreeper5107 I mean they could just make it so if you download a level, you can't upload it. That means if someone wants to steal the level, they would have to rebuild the whole thing block by block. That solves the main problem

Edit: There must be some reason Nintendo removed the ability to view downloaded levels in editor, so just undoing it seems a bit overly hectic
@@gferrol118 That's exactly what they did in Mario Maker 1. You could download other people's courses and look at them on the editor, but you couldn't reupload them as your own courses (even if you changed things)

That first level was insane. Best troll level you’ve played in a while. The engineering behind this shit blows my mind!!

For anyone wondering about what the dev exit was, there's a hidden block that falls one block to the left of the door in the CP1 room that releases Spike, and if you stand to the left of Spike, he will throw a ball and break the blocks to the left of the CP, going into the hint area that says to grab the Tanooki leaf from the lava, except the hint is covered in breakable blocks. There's a door in that room, which leads to an area above the room at the end that looks like Defender's level. I believe there's a block there that you can hit to break the outside walls and enter the room, then you can beat the level. This dev exit can be used to clearcheck from both CP0 and CP1.

The creator can beat the level from checkpoint because the switch starts in the red=on state but the level forces you to get to the checkpoint while the switch is in the red=off state.

Fun fact: There is a twice twice! The place where you see the leaf from the CP1 room isn't the real room. The real room has a scroll stop wall on the right made of blocks that cannot be broken, but that wall is gone when you enter the CP1 room. I assume they did this to hide CP2.
EDIT: It's definitely a twice twice. The windows in the background don't line up.
The best part of watching Carl is when he tried to keep his composure but always ends up raging when outsmarted by trolls

I don't know exactly how respawning enemies works, because I don't own MM2, but I think the dev exit to pass CP1 might involve reloading the room just before CP1 to break the area under the breakable bridge, and taking some pink coins.

I wonder if the dev exit involves the 4 red coins and the second pipe above the pipe you took to see that you could get the leaf tail.
EDIT: Maybe what you do is you duck with the tail when you go through the orange-yellow pipe to keep the powerup, then you take a single hit by touching the piranha plant, then break the blocks in the hint room.
EDIT 2: There's a mushroom under one of the block, so it probably is a dev exit.
That CP1 is the best CP1 troll I've ever seen. It uses the same trick other levels have but in an even better way.
You said the thing about wiping standing up exactly as I did it. Luckily my phone can't use my selfie camera without me noticing so it wasn't as worrying, but damn was that well timed

Yeah, I was extremely surprised to find that some people have such a flat ass that their cheeks are the same amount spread sitting as standing. My friend once complained to me about how underwear has way too much room in the back lol
These troll levels really are like magic tricks. "I dropped 20 big bombs while you were in the room with the moles" is clearly a misdirection to prepare the next illusion. People don't even care anymore if something explodes off screen because all the garbage levels with sound effect spam have trained us to ignore random explosions. I love these levels so much. I wish I could do only 10% of what these people can do.

To answer your question about the fake cp2, I think that what is happening is that because the on/off switch is in the off state, the hard blocks that were previously the floor and walls have now blown up. This makes the room look completely different even though it is, in fact, the same room as the cp1 room
At least, that's my best explanation
