I LOVE love LOVE the "rituals of good fortune" concept! What a mindset to keep! August especially if you grew up above about the 42nd parallel carries a strong anxiety of preparation. The heat of the Dog Days belies the sense of urgent need for action and you just feel UNSETTLED... It certainly makes one feel strange to be living in a Century/Millennium from which one did not originate! Each year of this century that passes increases my sense of being a traveler/interloper in a world no longer my own... but I like to feel like because I am here now, it IS MINE (and YOURS!) AS WELL 🐛🦋🐦🌎🤩💞🎶
Oh, Mr. Ridl. I only recently learned about The Sentimentalist through our dear friend, Rosemerry (my friend, too! since her May class 🥰). You have filled a special role for me: Mr. Rogers again in form. 😂 You (and Julie and Vivi and your kitty) are truly a soft, slow place to land and breathe again. I will forevermore “open the day,” then “go into the day.” It must be a bit of longer living to absolutely understand what you described as “a bad make the bed day,” because I listened while joyfully chuckling. 😂 I loved hearing how the fish and turtles know Julie’s coming.
