People like you are what makes this platform the best thing on the Internet. Thank you for helping me fix my tr608…I had no video from the lcd or viewfinder and now it’s all good
You can use hi8 tape on a video 8 and it will deliver the best quality video8 can deliver but not hi8 quality. The tape is the same just higher grade. You can also record hi8 and digital 8 to regular video 8 tapes.
Interesting repair and good to see one with a different problem. I have a small JVC camera with a suspected stuck iris but I haven't tried getting it apart yet. You've inspired me to try.
Thank you so much!!! My problem was probably the stuck iris too, my friend had dropped my camera and all the image was black, after opening it and giving a few taps on the iris I got image back, once again thank you !!
@@ACommenterOnCZcams yes they all do. Every consumer camcorder has the same thing. Even some professional lenses have plastic iris. I can't remember the last lens I took apart that had metal blades.
@@ACommenterOnCZcams I work on this stuff but i don't guarantee I can fix any device. I also don't guarantee that anything repaired will last any length of time because these are all very old devices now and there are no new parts available for any of them. Do might work for a couple of years, but then again that might only work for a few weeks. No way to tell. I've said it once and I'll say it again you shouldn't be using these old camcorders to record anything of value. If you have recordings on tape get it off of tape into some digital format. Tapes days are done. there's no going back despite a few people's claim that tape is making a comeback that's not going to happen.

Hey Sir, I have the same camera and I only hear noisy audio when playing back the tape on the camera, no audio at all, just noise. Wonder what could it be?
I know this is a dumb question but is it possible to use a hi8 tape on a video 8 machine? I still haven't looked around my town but i have a feeling that finding regular video 8 tapes is kinda hard
Yes you can use a Hi8 tape on a regular video 8. It will be recorded in standard video 8 mode. You can use a regular 8mm tape in a Hi8 camera as too, and it will be recorded in regular 8mm mode. If you knock out the detection hole on regular 8mm tape it will record in Hi8 mode. Regular 8 can be used for digital 8 too.
