I really liked the steering wheel and steering base, it looks very very cool. Your kitchen is also very cool, thanks for the video brother. With great respect from Russia. 👍👍👍👍👍
I don't have the pedals, but I did get the wheel and base package. I can't imagine being happier with an upgrade. coming from true entry level gear with a T300 and Open Wheel to this has been staggering.. found unused muscles I didn't know I had after driving it a couple days. Anyone looking to go DD from a less sophisticated piece of kit, I recommend you pull the trigger on a La Prima. I've been eagerly waiting for this review.
i agree i have tried this once, and i would be hooked if i had the money and a rig to support it
Exactly the same here mate, also came from the t300. How strong do you run your Wheelbase approx? Because what really surprised me is that I run the LaPrima at only 40% gain (ACC) or 6 strength on Iracing when its at 12Nm - way less than what I expected. Anything above 50% just feels like Im fighting the wheel. Will probably be a forever Wheelbase for me.
Hey bro I’ve got a t300rs atm too is this a big difference? Seriously considering it
Great video Dave. I ordered my La Prima wheel base as soon as you sneezed 😅 it's incredible
Congratulations for the competence and professionalism with which you described all the features of this bundle. I recently discovered this brand and I find it really interesting.
The pedals look great. I just wish we had the option to adjust the spacing. I'd actually rather they sold the pedals separately so we could set them up as we like. I mean, the spacing is probably fine, but it's nice to have the option and probably wouldn't cost them anything to put them on separate bases.
Big fan of the channel Dave! I was at Croft, as I’m in Darlo, and was gutted when I found out you were there afterwards would have loved a quick chat and a photo! Keep up the great content 👍🏼
Asetek & Dave Cam!? Love this. Appreciate the review.
I was thinking of this bundle. Think you might have made my decision. Thank you for the video was waiting for this one !
Got the green version of this thats got a better back of the DD and the upgraded wheel for only $650 on ebay. Incredible!
I'm convinced that no matter the level of competition there is in the direct drive and sim market as a whole that Fanatec will continue to do absolutely nothing to answer back. Since they released the DD Pro every other conceivable company has released their own version that offers the same, if not more, for the same price level...and since then Fanatec nothing (unless you count a $1500 M4 GT3 steering wheel, oh and the CSL Elite Pedals as a set instead of the load cell addon which ultimately screwed everyone who got stuck buying the 2 pedal set for the last 2 years).
Good video mate, thanks for the great content as always.
Ah, it's Dave "not a review" Cam!
Really looking forward to this "not a review" video! 😂
Just off subject for a second....lovely kitchen! I'm in the market, the wife has been marching me round. Can't believe I'm going to show her a Dave Cam video later to give her kitchen ideas and not to justify another wheel or monitor setup 😂
I've just got myself a Simagic Alpha and FX Pro. But I did copy you on the PSR1 and Benq 27"s, cant await to get it set up. I'll miss my T300 but I wont miss moving the 34" monitor, clamping the wheel base to the desk and putting down the rubber chocks for my chair!
You made me choose this a couple months ago, and no negret
I've been thinking about buying the LP base and wheel for months now, fearing that I might have to upgrade my GT Omega Titan cockpit to something sturdier as I already had to modify my pedal plate to stop flexing because of my Forte's. I feel like I'd lose all the fidelity of direct drive as even with my Fanatec CSL Elite base it starts to rumble quite a lot.
As for LED's, couldn't agree more. Sure they look fancy but they're just that, fancy. Rev lights are okay, but even those can be distracting. Usually you don't even look at them on the screen. With my Forte's I just have them on to make sure they're connected for sure.
Either way, simracing is 1 of the few motivaters that gets me up ane wants to work to grow and become better, and Asetek makes it all the more attractive for me
congratulations for your review, I wanted to ask you if you have tried it with rF2 and if you have a racehub setting for rF2. Thank you
Great video Dave. I think they look toy ish. Pedal look pretty okay, but the wheel and base🙄
btw everyone if you have a micro center near you the tony kanaan version going on sale a lot right now for $800 you also get the forte wheel and you get the usb hub on the back with green and black instead of orange
I got a question Dave la prima pedals or fanatec v3s I already have the v3s
Superb review!
Can you swap out the grips on the steering wheel for a round steering wheel?
sold out as of 7pm 03/08/23
No mention of the 5 kg loadcell brake. Just yesterday there was a very angry comment in the RD-forum from a buyer who wasn't happy about that brake.
Great review, thanks! How would you compare this base to the Simcube 2 Sport? I'm divided between the two.
It's obviously not as powerful but the ffb feels very similar from what I remember. It all depends if you like the Asetek qr better I guess 😁
What are your thoughts on the Asetek Tony Kanaan Bundle?
You spoke a lot about upgrading but i havent seen anything about that on their website, do they still offer it?
It'll be interesting to see if this concept takes off. It works very well in RC car racing. Every brand sells a perfectly adequate "out of the box" product but you can easily spend 3x the purchase cost of the the base item in upgrades. Now, the main question is this: is that a Tower dual drawer air fryer behind you? Any good?
I've got this bundle, it's nice so far. Just make sure you order one of the mounts as well with it. Most universal mount plates don't have the drill holes for asetek base.
Of you just order the bundle you can't use it. Asetek should mention this more clearly on their website. Their base dril holes are not commonly used.
Also no screws are supplied with the base. Something I never hear any of the CZcamsrs talk about in their reviews.
Also something to keep in mind. Asetek keeps on saying you can easily upgrade. But the upgrades are not on their website and most gear is sold out.
Their software is nice but uses lots of resources. I'm getting audio glitches sometimes while driving iracing and having the software open. My bass shakers stop for a brief moment then.
Their latest software and firmware updates fucked up my force feedback, I had to re setup fbb per car for all my iracing Cars. The Mazda I still can't get to how it was. Which pisses me off as I love driving it
But still I think this bundle is best value for money at the moment
What rig do you have and did you have any issues mounting the pedals ? (ie drilling new holes)
Nice tech kitchen!
You said that you added another wheel to the base, are there other rims that fit with the base?
How is it compared to VRS? I know that has more NM than La Prima, but price point isn't far off.
Seriously thinking about getting this bundle, would the pedals fit the Simlab GT1 evo pedal plate or would I have to drill some extra holes ?
Did you get the la prima bundle with the gt1 evo? If so, did you have any problems mounting?
@@IvarSpitters I did end up getting the la prima bundle with the bottom plate mount, for the pedals I was only able to secure them with the bottom bolts but they still feel very secured, I've only used the setup a few times since buying due to lack of time unfortunately
Man, people are really spoiled for choice these days. I have a Simucube SC1 20Nm, and when I bought it there were very few DD options. It was mostly OSW. The SC2 and Fanatec DD1/2 had just been released. I'd love to have one of these pretty new bases, but I really can't justify the cost when my SC1 can still hang with the best of them. If anything I just wish I had the new, more user-friendly software that new bases come with.
If your mige motor has the BiSS C encoder, you can use the simucube firmware software. I had to get the adapter plate for the encoder to fit the older miges. The newer motors come with biss c encoder and it's the same one they use in the SC2s afaik.
Great video, i only have one question, is the base wheel compatible with non-asetek wheels ?
(i think it's great that you can upgrade without changing the device)
Shame they dont do split payments or monthly payment otherwise I would definitely consider it
I mainly sim race the Nascar series stuff, and I know you've done some oval racing as well. I really like how this wheel looks (even more than the forte, I like the solid black) but do you think this wouldn't be a good fit for oval racing? I think it might be okay, but never having used a formula style wheel, is there some really big downside to not having that full O that I'm missing? Otherwise if it's just a personal preference thing then I'll probably be okay with it, and if not there's always the standalone QR I can get for some other wheel 😁
just placed the order, thanks for the review and everything, can't wait to get it setup!
@theCDGeffect how's your La Prima ? I'm going to buy one next week.
First: I too think your kitchen is stunning. Modern, clean vibe. I do have a concern with the Asetek pedals. Another reviewer, overtake_gg, has concerns about how the load cell works. In a review of the Forte pedals he points out that the load cell is activated by a spring which is compressed based on pedal travel and, in his opinion that is not a true load cell but more like a potentiometer. This apparently affected his trail braking. You don't seem to have had that experience. I currently have in my Fanatec cart the 8nm CSL DD, CSL Elite V2 Pedals, McLaren GT3 V2 wheel, CSL Elite WRC Wheel and 2 free QR hubs all for USD $999.80 (The Asetek bundle is $1349). Now I need to rethink that based on your review and the available upgrade path. I trust your opinion - any further thoughts?
A lot of people will blame the pedal. I had absolutely zero issues. Sure, it's a different design to other load cell pedals but it works. 👍
Im thinking about upgrading from a csl dd to a VRS dd, how would you compare the la prima or the forte to that?
Probably the forte for the strength, but I'd consider saving yourself some money and getting this. If have this over the vrs base considering everything.
I did upgrade from the CSL DD to this and couldn't be happier. I am thinking of upgrading to the Forte for the sake of the slew rate and extra headroom for heavier wheel, although Dave just made sure to explain that i shouldn't be in any rush to do that😊. I did go with the invicta pedals and not the la prima and i'm happy that i did that. They do take some getting used to but i've been gradually pushing the max amount of bar and braking (and results in races) is picking up nicely
@@DavyDemuynck thanks so much for your help. I do love the "DIYish" feel to the vrs, where you can add custom QRs etc. And im a sucker for good build quality, so im not a fan of plastic. Seems that the vrs is the way to go for me... only waiting for their QR, so i can buy it together. Anyways, thanks for your help 👍
@@ondrejtoman Thinking about the first DD wheelbase as well. I love how VRS uses a proper external metal case for the controllers with a good mean well power supply instead of those plastic power bricks and nice industrial connectors etc. But I've never tested any of them and have no way to try them out where I live. So I also have to rely on reviews. Any more input in regards to VRS vs other direct drive wheel bases as welcome :) *Thanks for the Review Dave! 🤘
Great review. Bought the la Prima bundle off the back of this. Would love to know what strength setting you were able to run in iRacing without clipping? The Asetek recommended settings seem to run the overall strength pretty low. I guess for safety.
I wish they'd use an easier to understand naming strategy. Forte/Invicta/la Prima means nothing to an Irishman.
La Prima wheel cant be upgraded with dual Clutch. You would have to upgrade to Forte wheel first. (source: Asetek)
Nice kitchen btw 😂
I’ll probably ending up going the Asetek way, cause it’s a Danish company and I live in Denmark and I want to support them. But man, I hate the look of the wheel… it’s the orange that ruins it for me, it’s such a dull orange.
There should be a choice to go all black, plus back lit buttons.
My plan is to go for the Forte wheel and base, and some Heusinkveld Sprint pedals. And I hope I have a set that will last me many years 😅
How’s it compare to the Simagic alpha mini?
@@davecamm can’t believe they’ve not sent you any units to test!! Seen that Laurence Dusoswa rates these two wheelbases on par with each other
@@davecamm don't rule it out Dave. At the end of the day content is content. And if company ethics were putting you off you wouldn't be working with Asetek!
I have to stop watching these videos.
Every time I see your (non)reviews I want to go out and spend money I don't have. 😂
What I like about the Asetek range is the QR system which means you are not locked into using only wheels form Asetek unlike other systems.
As always it is nice to see new gear coming to market to give us plenty options.
They forgot the clutch pedal
TMX Pro is working fine tho :D Just need to add loadcell mod :D Thank god for 3d printing :D
Hvae asstek somting to say about all reviews that you guys are doing? ask because you and boostet are doring the same review at the same date thats wird :D
Which is weird because they've been selling this for months. I've had my bundle for 3 months now.
Ya both reviewers are full of shit. No embargo what so ever. These items are already out so there would be no embargo left 😂😂 nice way to try and bs your subscribers!
I dont really like the soft plastic look. It just looks cheap. Whether it performs well or not it still looks like a toy
import duty to the uk adds quite a bit unfortunately ... thanks to the brexit voters i guess !
When you said, "I don't need LED's", you had me for life. So sick of LED lights jammed into everything.
Agreed. It's ridiculous.
Rgb led … No wonder everyone wrecks, looking at the pretty stuff 😮
One of the many things I love about my Simucube wheel and base. No gaudy LED lights; just sleek and professional looking.
Meanwhile Dave,s kitchen is packed with led lights xD
For a streamer, the pedal LED, if they're programmable, would make sense, so if e.g. you got a pedal cam, the LEDs would be add a visual presentation of you're brakeforcw
