I´ll fill you in with some info on da sax man. It´s my dear friend who unfortunately is no longer with us. Holger Laumann. A danish sax man with a great love for Trini and Calypso music. I used to live in Holgers house for 7 years and I was the keyboardplayer in Holger Laumann´s calypso band. Everytime he´d been to Trinidad to record, attend the Panorama og carnival he would play us the music and tell us about Boogsie, Albert Bush and his many other friends there.
Len Boogsie Sharpe is the bravest steelband arranger. All Steelbands prior to Boogsie's experiment would play an appropriate Calypso from a recognized calypsonian. Imagine Boogsie's decided to risk and enter a national competition with his own composition, year after year until it was accepted. This was unheard of. Hats off to Len .
Unfortunately I never got the chance to go to Trini with Holger, but I have felt the music through him. I play on several of his albums.
