Buddha's teaching is classified into 3 categories as "Turning of Dharma wheels. This particular prayer is a gist of the second turning of the Dharma wheel which Buddha taught at Vulture Peak (Hill near Bodhgaya) to about 500 monks. This teaching is on "interdependence and emptiness phenomena" and is popular among the Mahayana and Vajrayana schools.
