Trains at Darlington - 18/07/2023

Filmed on 18/07/2023. So, on a rather wet and damp day and for the final of Three Tuesday's In A Row, we wind down with a relaxing trip to the North East. Kicking off with a station that is the main terminus of the Tees Valley Line and also the gateway for The Bishop Line. This is Darlington (Season 10 Episode 20)
Well, what can only be known as tried and tested as Transpennine Express has introduced a new hourly service running semi-fast between Newcastle and Manchester Piccadilly. But, due to 'short notice change to the timetable' majority of them has been cancelled. But are worked by the Nova 1's. By December, they will have a new route to be working on but all will be shown later in the year.
A rare surprise of DRS class 66 as it works an engineers train from York to Tyne Yard. This will only be the freight working on this day but not too worry about this too much. Cross Country Trains has introduced a new 2 hourly service between Newcastle and Reading via Doncaster diagrams worked by their class 220 Voyagers. But, some are worked by the class 221 Super Voyagers.

Cool to see how stations and trains have evolved in the past 15-20 years. I love the new modern approach, but I also miss the old trains and liveries.

I agree, with the HST's, 225 sets etc... The railways has changed a lot. Although, the oldest units at Darlington is the class 156 Sprinter units. I miss the old units as well :-)
