Today they have changed the game once again with the release of their GX T-Type Transmission Drivetrain, and at this lower, more affordable price point, makes T-Type drivetrains much more affordable and accessible to many more riders. What are your thoughts on the new SRAM GX T-Type?
Wait but, are they all still heavier then the XX1 AXS derailer but you just need to not crunch gears?
I think its cool, but was still saving up for my AXS GX upgrade and this came out, dammit!
still not able to buy parts individually, to piece a drivetrain together as you say?
also, if you bought the groupset, are there different cassette options, for a different gear spread?
My thoughts is if the derailleur will fit a 2022 Commencal Clash frame 🤔😅 with the UDH

Impressive price considering the previous GX AXS Upgrade kit is $633 withOUT a crankset, cassette or chain.

why spend that much on your drivetrain for a park bike? I have an enduro too (2021 Mach 6) and use it almost exclusively at parks, but I'd rather put that $1,100 towards a trip or something fun. What do you have now that you're thinking about replacing?
Edit: btw, I say I don't want one but I'll probably change my mind 🤣 I'd spend the extra $400 though, and get the X0 cause I like the aesthetic a lot more!!

Question
Will that t type flat top chain work with a xplr cassette?
Ordered gx derailleur, xo cassette, ultimate pod controller (used), gx chain(until colors come out, and a wolftooth chainring to reuse my newer eagle xo carbon cranks. This setup is barely heavier than the full XO axs kit.
Are the clutches serviceable?
How till bikes like the one in the CZcams clip will show up or sold in bike shops?
Is there going to be a mechanical T-type variant? Not all of us like batteries and weight.
Doubt it.
Sure not liking batteries is a thing. But weight? Transmission drivetrain systems are lighter than their mechanical counterparts.
They add weight in their structure (swingarm from the UDH) but they save weight back from being wireless. If there was a mechanical TT type. It would still have the beefier UDH mount plus all cables and system to make it work just like the electronic version, so it will be much heavier already. And given TT demands more torque to shift I am guessing such system will need so much mechanical leverage and strong components the derailleur will be heavier and bigger than any previous mechanical components.
All in all. I don’t see the angle at which this is justified from an engineering perspective. Old Eagle XX1 where already pretty light and optimized. Mechanical derailleurs had decades of improvement. So if you want a mechsnical derailleur with better shifting under load. Check out Shimano’s XTR. Or non-AXS XX1

Right now I'm looking forward to buying the new GX t-type and I'm a bit confused. I now have the old cable operated GX with DUB bottom bracket on my bike. Do I need a new DUB Wide bottom bracket and if so can you share a link where can I buy it for cheeper than from Sram directly or I can keep the old bottom bracket and buy some spacers if so can you share a link where can I buy those for cheeper than from Sram directly?

Can you keep your cranks and just change the chainring? I know the new chain needs the new cassette but as an X01 AXS user, would love to just swap the necessary parts (keep my shifter, etc)
Yep you can get a chainring from Wolf Tooth.
what about compatibility whit the old chain? or traditional gold?
Chain is different, flat top is not compatible

Unfortunately not. Your bike will need to use the SRAM UDH (universal derailleur hanger, came out in about 2019)
Will it fit levo SL version 1.1
It’s annoying sram list the so called lighter chains weight for 114 links but the gx chain weight is for 126. I’d like to sell all the mtb flat top chains compared with the same links. But I went ahead with the gx chain for now. I’d like a colored chain down the road.
Get it down to $850 or so and I will be all in.

Yes the shifter is the only part cross compatible with non t type axs

I will never understand why they made it only compatable with UDH bikes, guess SRAM wont be getting my money when i next change my drivetrain.
It's only compatible with UDH bikes because with the UDH, SRAM is able to engineer this new drivetrain around those exact measurements and tolerances. Good ol' AXS works great on bikes without a UDH!

You can piece together a groupset by buying the parts individually and using a wolf tooth T-Type chainring.
