Here in northern Sweden we have pretty cold winters, I live a few miles north of a city called kiruna. All we get is snowstorms and no electricity so I don’t really feel the need to bug out but bug in. I’ve got my own water and I hunt and grow a lot of food. So prepping to be within electricity is what I do. I’ve got my solar panels but when a storm hits wit 1,5 meters of snow they aren’t really effective. So filling up with a diesel generator and I’ve got an old 18th century wood stove hopefully that will keep me going. Thinking about expanding to keep more animals I’ve got chickens only but thinking about rabbits but I haven’t got much experience with that. Thanks for an awesome video. See you in Valhalla

I just put my bugout bag together and had a lot of the same stuff or similar. One thing that I didn't have that is a flash drive or copies of important documents. It is soo simple, idk why I missed it. Thanks for the reminder/suggestion! I will be getting that together and in my bag.
Maybe throw a wool blanket in your bag. If you do have to run and it is cold, a wool blanket will help keep you warm. I have also included a small solar panel with my bag. It is about the equivalent of 2-3 USB ports on the computer (it is rated 30 watts. Not sure how accurate this is. I still need to test it). So it isn't much, but it could charge 1-2 of my devices or powerbanks. I made sure it was rugged enough to hang off of my backpack while I walk.
Awesome. Yeah good ideas! I’ve actually added by goal zero charging system (solar and power bank) from my backcountry backpack gear. Takes up very little space and is pretty rugged. 👍

I was an Army medic/para in 90s. We had them for the grunts as CLS bags.

I like how you organized everything in that green bag I used makeup roll bag organizers you can use trash bags and zip lock bags to keep your items dry also emergency phone, sharpie, store bags where you can carry items and throw trash away because you don't want to leave a trail ear plugs. I'm also glad that you didn't get a military backpack you dont want to be a target you want to blend in. Great bag great content
Yea zip locks are cheap and help keep things dry. Plus you can see inside each one to quickly retrieve what you need. Good idea on the trash bags and earplugs. I’ll have to add those in. Thank you very much!!

Love that you have the digital backups, these days our lives are so much data. In my go bag I have a small envelope that is emp proof, in it I keep a mini computer the size of a pack of gum. Not something you’d play games on, but it’s super power efficient runs off a battery and has a tiny 3” screen. With it I have 2TB of digital storage with my entire movie, audio, audio book, photo library and backups of all important digital documents and scans of ids and such. So even if the zombies set my house on fire with a emp😂I will still have a digital copy of everything.

This is the first video I've seen of someone who is intelligent enough to understand that it's insanely unlikely that a "bugout bag" will ever be necessary. You have what you want/need for everyday things, but you don't treat it like the world is coming to an end. Awesome.

my take is that you never know what you are getting into. You may start walking home during say a power outage due to terrorists and then an EMP hits and then home is burned down by rioters. So Go Bag, vs get home bag vs INCH bag Bec comes irrelevant. You simply cannot predict how things will unravel.
I began with an Alice pack because it is big, cheap ($100) and army quality, but it leaks so you get a liner and waterproof bags. I may go to a Mystery Ranch bag later on for waterproofing and larger sized.
The idea was to carry a lot of stuff, walk slow with lots of breaks and have what I need. Inside I put a smaller pack with essentials in case I had to drop the big bag and run away.
I watched bag videos incessantly and caught on to the best stuff as it came up over and over and over. One by one I bought it on line. I learned about tourniquets, how you will be needing a lot, lot of water and so I got several canteens and a big 5 gallon collapsable Coleman jug for scooping up stream water. I got a bottle of water purification pills and a good water filter by Grayl and am looking at a lifestrpaw mini. I bought Maxpedition pouches, and on and on. Only the good stuff that was revel about over and over on different videos.
Then I began camping out in the back yard. Nemo sleeping pad, army sleeping bag, Nemo pillow. I joined REI where the good stuff is. I found Cabellas had second rate stuff kind of. I found Chris Reves knives, Titanium Bush Box twig stoves, Swedish trangeia Stoves that ran on Heet from Auto Zone, Rocket stove deluxe, and Silva composes. I went to Allied Radio and got a CB and A Ham radio. Got a weather survival radio from C Crane.
I began watching Dave Canterbury, Blackie Thomas, the EDC knife guy. I got Headlites, O lite Flashlites, got battery chargers and battery packs. I was getting set for The Postman where you are out there for 5 years. I could charge up my batteries and then use USB to charge up the flashlights and stuff. Wool sox, bug spray, bug head nets, freeze dried food, beef boulllion cubes and energy bars.
I was catching on, learning, honing my skills and then came to winter storm a few weeks ago. I found myself bugging out in my living room. I was warm, informed and well fed. I was thriving in a crisis. My daughter came over and I had plenty. Thanks You Tube, thanks Amazon.
Probably going to get a lot of traffic here with all the crazy going on lately.

Great question! I don’t think I mentioned it. It’s right at about 20 lbs. Thats with the water and ammo. You could shave some weight off of that depending on if you wanted to do a fast and light load out.
It’s funny how different peoples’ opinions can be about what and how much to carry. An important point is to take into account the size, physical capabilities and responsibility level of person carrying it. A young guy might be able to carry a lot. An older person might not be able to carry as much.

I just repacked my bug out bag. I check it about every 3 months .
I have close to 3 months of food in mine . Most the food is in sprouting seeds .
We have also tried many ways to sprout them .

I used to worry about my preps and the family not getting the nutrition they needed . Sprouts seeds have it all and easy storage . A 5 gallon bucket of seed is more than a 2 years supply for 2 people .
We have been eating them for 2 out of 3 meals a day for over a year . We know exactually how much we need and how long it will last .
We got rid of most the beans and rice and freeze dried food and bought more sprout seeds .

my children are old enough to be trusted to make fire handle a saw firearm we use our bags a few times a year 1-2 nights i teach kids outdoor skills 1 maybe 2 meals hunt fish gather

I've bought and regretted buying the Ferro rods, they suck and I just throw them away, a lighter is 99.999% the time a million times superior.
Lock picks and a bit of training on using them could also be helpful. A lifestraw can filter 1000 gallons also useful.
EpiPen is also useful, knife sharpener, extra clothes.
Hard to honestly carry everything you could need in a single bag but you've got a good start there.

😂 true. And that’s awesome! I didn’t realize I’m one of the few that has mentioned it. It just made sense to me. Being a contractor I always kept one in the work truck in case I needed water for anything. Most commercial buildings don’t have a regular water spigot.
There are so many of these “bug out bag”, or “get home bag videos. It make me wonder if some of these guys have ever actually practiced hiking with these load outs. If so, they rarely seem to warn viewers about the struggles of weight while carrying them. They get very heavy, very quickly. This guy seems to have a military background and seems to be in pretty good shape, but that specific bag will not work for most people who are out of shape … and that’s most people. I love Osprey but I would direct people toward an exterior framed pack in whatever brand they choose.
Thanks for your input. That’s a good point you make and you are correct. Unfortunately most people are out of shape. I would argue that since this type of video is based around preparedness, the first step to preparedness is preparing your body. So you can have all the coolest and best survival gear available or a really nice exterior framed pack but it won’t mean anything if you’re incapable of carrying it or getting to a place to able to use the gear. Be prepared. Train. 👍

What happens if someone steals your bag and has all of your personal information in there, ie your credit card information, and everything you put on there. That's why I personally don't like doing that.
That’s a good point! Thanks for the comment. I’m not attempting to argue because that is a valid concern. I guess my thought behind it was that if it’s a natural disaster, the bag would leave the house and go directly to a hotel or to a family member’s home. So point A to B, in my possession and/or secured. No different than my wallet on my person if anyone wanted to steal it. If it was a true SHTF scenario, personal info would probably be completely useless to other people as we’d be dealing with a possible societal collapse and they’d be more worried about tangible things that could be used immediately.

That’s a good point, however as mentioned at the beginning of the video this isn’t a SHTF sort of bug out. My thought is that while some natural disasters can be pretty massive in scale they normally don’t take out an entire regions complete infrastructure. *Normally. So getting a hot meal at a family’s or friend’s house, hotel or restaurant down the street or next town over wont be impossible.

My bug-out bag contains 21cans of Coors Lite beer, 21 McDonald's cheeseburgers, my .357 magnum and 250 rounds of ammo. The plan is, go into the woods, eat, drink & sleep like a baby for one week,,, then rob the beer store, rob McDonald's, and go back to the woods. any questions?

I don’t believe I added it in there but I use goal zero solar panels and charging cells for my backcountry stuff and have incorporated them into my bug out bag.
