    Not all my locs grow away from my loc for the hair that grow away I wrap the looser hair around the top of the loc near the scalp this method has worked for me

      Yep, not all my locs suffer from that phenomenon either. Also, I'm glad the wrap around method works for you. Back in the day, it was the only technique I had in my arsenal lol

    You have my hair pattern condition and also use rose water or distilled water with peppermint essential oil!👑👑👑
    *As for another way to correct hair growing away from the locs…I have used the braid technique, wrapped the loose hair around the loc and lastly, I have used a crochet latch hook…place it through the base of the hair I’m working on (sometimes it’s at the root and sometimes it’s in the middle of a loc) I hook onto the gathered loose hair and bring it through to the other side. I do that a couple times then put the loc in my palms and rub the loc back and forth until all hairs are blended.
    The one I prefer out of those methods is the braiding method. It’s tricky to do in the middle of a loc UNLESS the loc is small or micro. There IS a way to blend it into the loc with minimal bulky results.
    Thanks for the space…ciao for now!💫💫💫 #newsubbie

    Thank you for this information. For me (a person who's hair for sure grow away from their locks) the braiding hair into the lock works great. I have to wait a while for the base scalp hair to grow long enough to braid into the lock but I like how this technique does no unravel. I do a bit of crochet hook too!

    Thanks so much for the shout out and video covering my question!! I will definitely try the braid method again. I believe the problem for me with that technique is that I need to let it get longer. There is a fine line there with my microlocs thinning out as I'm waiting for the hair growing away from my locs to get long enough for the braid technique. I will monitor my locs and see how it goes. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. Bless you and your journey my friend.

      You’re very welcome and thanks again for the video topic. Yeah, I’d definitely try it again to see if you have more success. I’m really hoping you will. Btw, that’s quite the impressive decrease in loc count. Your maintenance time must have dropped significantly 😉👍🏾

      Old video, but do you still wait for hair to grow to braid them back in?

    Very helpful video omg I am doing my micro locs right now and just nodding along to everything you say lol especially the thing about the new growth retraction . My hair grows away from my locs and I have been frustrated with my locs when really they need more love .

    I have small to medium size locs and I find that the interlocking method works best for retrieving and repairing loose hair at the root. It really allows those hairs to stay in place with out causing so much tension on the roots.

    I have fine also it took a couple of times but the wrap method works that same loc that use to have hair grow away now the hair grow into the loc after I used this method for me

    • @AtreyuLocs
      @AtreyuLocs  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I tried it several times. The thin area just got farther and farther away from the roots until I missed the window of opportunity to braid that hair into the loc (of course, I didn't know about that technique back then). Anyway, that's why I had to reinforce those locs with my beard hair. So, as I said in the video, the wrap around method works for some people but not for everyone.

  • @luvlocs06

    I find that with this thick set of locs I have great success with the crochet method. I used to do the braid method with my last set that started off with 175 locs.

      @@AtreyuLocs absolutely! In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, there are areas on my head where the braid technique works better. I've done both with this set of 52 locs!
      You know I used to think I had 50 until I did my first twist out!🤭

    • @AtreyuLocs
      @AtreyuLocs  Před 2 lety +1

      Nice! Yeah, sometimes it’s necessary to tailor the approach for individual locs. And way to get an accurate loc count😂👌🏾

    I wish I saw this video before hand, my parents always do my locks and my hair room and hair in general in the center is thin as the hair grows away from the locks and they locked my hair, didn't want them to but had no choice, hope hope it turns out ok😩

    So i was trying to semi free form but i broke down. Well i was trying not to interlock until next year. Well that didn’t work. I just got it interlocked last week. So i have decided to just interlock 4 times a year. I dont have micro locs but i do have small locs. My locs do grow away from the loc so as i was seeing a Afro i decided to interlock. So currently i am on a interlock every 3 months am I considered a semi free former. I really want to know. Thanks in advance.

    • @AtreyuLocs
      @AtreyuLocs  Před 2 lety

      No worries. You simply do what you can do. And remember, not everything works for everybody. You have to be comfortable with what you're doing or, ultimately, it won't work for you. To answer your question, yes, you are definitely still considered a semi free former! Every 3 months is still very infrequent. I hope that brings you peace =)
