bought one of these back in the 80's. Came with a brass plaque stating it was the 3,000,000th unit ever made. Still go it, still on my board, still works. Boss pedals are immortal.
That is awesome!
I’m surprised they made 3 million!
Finally I found one review that allows me to hear diferent settings and tones coming out of this pedal. Very useful to hear the whole range of this pedal
1:20 the l i c c
ugh fuck off
@@mezzafinook ok mr no fun.
lol
the ds1 really impressed me
this thing has been in cryostasis since 84
I always see some death and black metal stuff with this pedal but this is wonderful. Imagine you are playing blues with this fella 🤘🤘🤘
Quality review, didn’t know it could do other settings than the Swedish Death!
"Swedish setting",everything full on ! Great one! I'll tell it again.Thanks.
Sounds better than the Metal Zone anyways.
@Dušan Janek Buy a cheap/broken (but case intact) Boss Pedal (any type as long it has holes for four pots and only one input and only one output. Then Gut swap the pedals and re-label it. Then you have a more sturdy HM300.
Funny how it's called the "swedish setting" here. Entombed/Dismember/Carnage all over the place.
Why they replace this with the MT-2?
That's a really cool video, man, congrats!
And this is one of the best pedals ever, if not THE best!
Subscribed!
That really adds a nice growl to the guitar. Great riffs!
I used to have one of these and played it with the hi eg setting turned down low. The guy in the shop (Savages in King's Lynn) told me it was a tone mix, which I never fully understood, but it significantly increases dynamic range of eq settings. I regret swapping it for a Dod tube driver :-(
The gain knob on yours WORKS?
The only thing wrong with this pedal is it doesn't have enough volume output to match unity gain with the sort of high output pickups that modern metal players tend to use, which is the reason for the 'everything maxed out swedish chainsaw' thing. In all honesty, it sounds way better than any other Boss "Metal" pedal. If boss had just released an updated version that had more output like they did with the OD-2, the 'swedish chainsaw' sound probably wouldn't even be a thing.
The swedish chainsaw tone sounds brutal asf tho..
I love my Boss ML-2 Metal Core
Finally! Some real hard rock playing when showcasing this pedal! Always used this pedal for 80's hard rock sounds. Usually people play some noise where you can't realise what this pedal is capable of. Your demo shows just what this pedal REALLY is! Thanks!
Sorry fam, but it literally sounds like a shitty fuzz when you have it on anything but the PROPER setting, the swedish chainsaw. Like, if you want good various tones, get a ds-1. But this is a one trick pony. Still a proud fuckin owner of this pony though, because that one trick is really fuckin good.
@@ProTobigen actually David Gilmour used it to great effect on various Pink Floyd albums. It's pretty suited as a lead distortion.
@@ProTobigen btw if your HM-2 sounds like a fuzz you probably have the Japanese version which you're undervolting at 9V. That ACA version runs on 12V.
@@ProTobigen You’re an idiot. This video has clearly shown, that this pedal has more than one sound. If you are happy with one setting, that’s fine. But this can do more than one sound.
I still have mine without the level know and with a makeshift plastic back to it. I never really liked it I'm going to sell that mofo ( watch me plug it back in and fall in love with it all of a sudden 😃 ) always been more of a DigiTech guy myself but the boss white delay pedal was money.
Cool video thanks !
2:50 probably error. The caption and sound are Swedish, but the knobs are in wrong positions.
ALl tHe WAy UP
Nice tone!
This is the best Boss HM-2 reveiw on the Internet!!!
Out of the two replica pedals, the Eyemaster I think is way closer to the original than the other one, although it did seem to be a tad brighter than the original
Great!
Tx offering some else than the buzzsaw max setting, this pedal could do a lot more than what people expected.
Sounds good. I used have one.
Were there different versions of this? I've only seen ones with orange writing and orange knobs. Great video btw!
No, this is the only version, black with orange writing and knobs.
Am I the only one who noticed the way maxed treble adds more basses? 2:05
Nah it's just that the treble frequencies got more muted as they sustained so the bass frequencies became more audible.
rhoma irama with soneta group from indonesia always use this ..
Use a Steinberger, roland jc120 (chorus on), and all knobs are flat
that's will be a Dangdut Tone Setting
Damn I think this pedal is awesome also for classic heavy metal and 80 s hard rock
Yes yes and yes!
Perfect video 100%!
1:20 the lick
Are you playing revolution calling?
2:22 Riff a la 'To much work can kill me, Babe.' ...you know what I'm sayin'.
какие настройки дилэя ?
Honestly, I’m shocked. Back off of the Swedish Chainsaw and it actually sounds great.
Eyemaster shouldve kept the eq knobs, made them eye balls and called it the tarantula
1
Swedish setting it s similar sounds of entombed.
It's not similar, it's exactly what they used.
0:48 great setting
Boss seriously needs to re-issue this pedal.
They are goig to now
The DS1 stole the show
Boss
For everyone watching this video.. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU USE THE HM-2!
