- Erik Ponti's home life is a nightmare. His abusive stepfather subjects him to systematic beatings while his terrified mother turns a blind eye. When Erik is expelled from school for pummeling an innocent boy, he is sent to an elite boarding school that seems the picture of tranquility. But the school is run by a brutal group of upperclassmen who routinely beat and humiliate weaker students.

I loooooove how he handled his step dad. He did everything he could to keep the peace, but the second his dumbass touched Eriks mom it was over. That "Sorry mom, but this will be the last time there is violence in this house" was a baller line, too.
You got one thing wrong tho, Eric didn't do that first fight in fear of being expelled and not because he was scared. His mother used her last money to buy him into a private school and if he gets expelled he's got no chance to get into any other school.

A bully is the most putrid form of life our planet has produced thus far. The only thing worse is when the bully is a father beating a child that neither has adequate means of defense nor understands that the beating serves no correctional purpose. The victim generally does not understand that he is not to blame. The beating serves only the sick and cowardly deficiencies of the father. It is a true pity and travesty of justice that such bullies rarely receive the public humiliation and punishment they deserve.

Yeah, if this was a U.S. film, I expect Erik would've gone full Clint Eastwood mode in the last reel or two. Maybe Hollywood will remake this film, lol.
It's usually best to make more friends and to deal with the bullies individually. With the way the school works, a beatdown without seriously injuring them, maybe bruises to the thighs front and back to prevent them walking for a day or a few hours but not to the point it breaks them, just send them a message. But yes boiling hot water and then cold water was too far, probably splash boiling water to all involved in a day.
One sad fact in life is bullies cannot be reasoned with. They only understand the fist, and deserve to get it on their faces.
I agree bullies can’t be reasoned with in the short run. But I do think over a very long time, like a decade or so, you can reason with them. They have to respect you; need you and you have to be very patient.
the only way to reason with a bully is violence... in the form of vigilante justice... screw the school systems that punishes those who stand up for ourselves.
@Akiko Candyce Baldridge you don't understand human psychology bud. By your logic those wives who get beaten should just be patient.
That's true. My friend has a 2 yo kid and he is now in kindergarten. One boy 1 year older is bullying physically all other kids when there are no teachers present so, everyone is keeping away from him. When that kid smacked in the head my friends kid, the kid kicked him in the knee so hard that bully went down and cried like a little girl. Now he doesn't bully anyone but other kids still keep away from him. lol

That isn't a mother, it's a gardening tool.
ANY parent. That allows their child to be beaten and preyed upon should get sentenced along with the monster that attacks them.
Holy shit.
But this often doesn't happen. When I was younger, I was totally thinking the same. Now I am older and I realize that things are often not that simple.
In my own family there was abuse. Mostly by my mother (physical and sexual) but also from my father (physical). The dad got divorced after playing all kind of manipulation games to make my mother ask him to divorce. She was too of a coward to do something like that. 😅 In the and he asked the divorce. And when he left he treated my brothers mostly like garbage. I got the easy way out as I was living in a different city and after the news about the divorce I stopped talking with my father. Now only a brother still talks to him.
The mother was kind of messed up by divorce. She doesn't have any other relative so she probably got scared to not be alone. So she basically stopped arguing with us and just go to another room and cry. Clearly, being the one dumped, she got us all on her side.
Sometimes I would love some justice for the crap she did to us. But she is nothing than a shadow now. Hurting her right now would only make me feel as a bully myself. So the best thing I can do is not talk or spend time with her when I'm triggered by trauma.
I'm hoping that God somehow would be nice to me if I am able to be nice with my mother and forgive her after everything she done to us.
All the 3 brothers are a bunch of losers from a non-professional point of view. We don't have a lot of friends (or do we have any friends?), we never touched a girl as they say and probably we will never will. 😅 We are very shy and not very good in creating long term friendships. We are all close to our 40s. We have a younger sister who is in her 20s. She is a bit more normal than the rest of us: she has a lot of friends she spends time with and also had a long time relationship with a boy.
But financially me and a brother are doing pretty good. We work on well paying jobs. The other brother is ok too. I mean he doesn't have a high paying job but he has a stable job for years. He is some kind of a mechanic in a factory. Sister is in college so will see what's next for her.
You know it’s not real yeah

Being violent is a clear show of ignorance and stupidity

There are a few misses here but overall a good recap I think!
They weren't selling his dad's house, his mom was selling things to pay for his boarding school, which was his last option to finish high school.
His friend Johan got hurt at the table - not because he had done something wrong, but because Otto wanted to punish Erik by hurting his friend. The same thing with the first boy who got hit by on the head; Otto knew it was Erik saying a bad word, but chose to show him what happens when you do that and prove his power.
Erik didn't go to the ring (square is the correct translation) because he would have fought and that would have probably been worse and he would risk getting kicked out if things escalated. The reason he refused several of the things the older students asked him to do was so he would get detention over the weekend and not have to go home.
The staff woman's name is Maria, but she's Finnish and therefore it's spelled differently and pronounced somewhat differently.
The teacher didn't exactly say to stop the violence, they said "that's enough" and went back to their meal. They simply didn't want a ruckus.
Erik's record is good in all subjects, but his behavior gets a C which is why his stepdad beat him.
Erik wasn't going to kill Otto or hurt him, he wanted to scare the living shit out of him and let him know that he could kill him and there was nothing he could do about it - which he proved in the square by beating up Dahlén and the other boy.
Erik told his stepdad in the last scene together that at the end of that "conversation" he wasn't going to see out of either eye, and both his arms would be broken, and they would tell the hospital that he simply fell down the stairs, so I think it's pretty safe to assume that he left after getting out of the hospital.
It's a really good movie with lots of great actors in it - including Gustaf Skarsgård.
Great job. Really enjoyed it

I have been a high level combat sports competitor and powerlifter since age 6. I used to instigate fights with known bullies just so I could beat the crap out of them. In every case they were only tough when they were part of a gang. Once isolated or defeated along with their cronies they begged for nonexistent mercy.
Be noted that everyone breaks , and that’s biology. Also, bullies are… not always using their fists, but their reputation as well. I was bullied, by a fellow female classmate, by being boycotted. It’s really terrible.
@@jchen8792 - It’s disgusting behavior and I never stood for it. I’m a proud bully vigilante and taught my kids to be the same way. This fat boy was bullying my daughter and I wanted her to tase him, but didn’t want her to get suspended, so I gave her some some stick pins and told her to poke him the next time he puts his hands near her and toss them so no evidence can be found. Problem solved. My son came home one day complaining about a male classmate grabbing his crotch on the bus. I went to the principal and they did nothing, so I told my son to uppercut him as hard as possible. The next day he punched the hell out of him and the problem disappeared. Many of these comments are horrifying. Your "solutions" are really simple in text. But from someone who grew up in an abusive home, I can tell you that it's not that easy. There is so many layers that you are not even thinking about.
Some people don't understand that mean people are only mean based on previous experiences. *A beating wouldn't humble them or benefit them,* it only adds more reason for them to be mean.
You're wong. Previous experiences are not the only thing that cause people to be mean. Some people are mentally ill, and are mean without any justification. You are right that violence will not change them. However, punishment and payback aren't necessarily about teaching the perpetrator a lesson, although it sometimes works that way. It's about achieving a sense of justice.
@@ryanphillips4123 Keep in mind, mental issues can be caused by childhood trauma, adult trauma (such as war, or crime), hardships, stress, stigma, isolation, and neglect, but you're right that it can be genetic. People can be passed down mental issues which may affect their morals and actions. For example, a psychopath's brain has a deficient prefrontal cortex, meaning they underestimate the consequences of their actions, have strong impulses, and have very little empathy or guilt. However, many psychopaths seek help to control their urges, so their cruelty is only determined by whether they chose to act on it or not.
The part where you're wrong is where they "are mean without justification". Whether it's past experiences or genetic disorders, mean people are never mean for no reason. Even your reply proved it could be mental illness.
@@l1585 No reason can define what it is when people decide to be mean for small reasons, to the point it can be called for no reason. It's true that many people choose to do stuff like that to let off steam, to impress their friends, out of a bad mood, jealousy, insecurity (a common one. To feel better about themselves), to show dominance, and because its trendy. There's reasons but no excuses. Some people medically cannot feel remorse, some just see remorse as 'soft'.
@@opalfruits1236 Even if it's small reasons, there's still always a reason why people can be mean. You say no reason, but continue to explain some of the reasons. I'm not trying to excuse mean behavior, but I've stated some of the causes why people act that way.

It's a true story about a "scared straight" boarding school that using cult tactics and brainwashing to abuse students via their peers while the administrators rake in thousands of dollars from unknowing parents.
My dad, he's hot headed and a big guy but he never "beat me" or anything. But he always use his stature to intimidate me while growing up and he actually hit me twice in my life (on the stomach once and a slap on my cheek once). Saying that I almost had a fight with him in 4 diferent occassions because of his nature...you know...trying still to be the alpha dog even when I was already in my 18/20 I was already stronger and bulkier. If I almost had a fight in 4 different occassions with a guy like that...I can only imagine what could happen if my mom was like this, marrying a dude who is not my father and beats me everyday...I would have beat the shit out of her after I beat the shit of my step dad...the moment I was confident enough of my strenght.
Thanks! Movie in Minutes! 😊
Eric is the definition of a gigachad
This looks like a game i certainly played is it Rockstar one 😅bully but when he doesn't use violence too much 😅
As a swede I can recommend this movie to everyone. One of the best movies my county have produced and the book is even better.
What is it called?
@@BTGaming9127 "Ondskan" is the original Swedish title and "Evil" is the English title
This is in my opinion the best Swedish movie ever, I love this one.
The memories!! They used to show this movie in schools in Sweden in the mid 2000s
The movies name is ondskan (evilness) in Swedish
probably every single swedish kid has seen this movie at one point in school.
Title of the movie?
@@thankgodochonma6043 Ondskan
Couldn't imagine watching this all the way to the end and not seeing that step father a bloody mess. Seemed like movie of the year right up to that point
@I Coroa he said you see the door shut and the it shuts...
@I Coroa ok so I repeat...could imagine watching this entire movie just to just see the step father a bloody mess...pretty amazing how stupid someone people are.
Cool to see that non Swedes are watching this, one of the better movies made here
