Great video Rick. Something to mention to people who are making decisions on saving money. If the stem is aluminum, do not straighten it as it will become much weaker and will certainly fail. Steel stems can be straighten, but it can corrode if not protected. Regardless it is best is to buy a new stem and have peace of mind. Plus upgrades to better stem is a big plus.
Yep, that is a good call. They will not get any stronger for sure. Have to see if my old one is aluminum, might get a couple bucks back from the recycler.
What is the piece called that the tie rods hook to at the bottom of the steering stem? I had a tie rod break from that piece. I was wandering if i could just buy just that plate alone.
Those stems bend easily how to properly separate the stem for removal is essential considering these stems are typically bent during installation or removal to change out the bearing.unfortunately your video skipped over vital steps to remove the stem properly and is a waste of time to watch

I put a new steering stem on my 2014 raptor 700r and I got play in my handle bars now and I never had play with my old bent stem?
Check to see if the lower stem bearing is bad.

Those are usually called a steering stem flag. You should be able to buy just that piece.
Buy a bipod so we know what to do
