- ET's Deidre Behar spoke with 'When Calls the Heart' stars Erin Krakow, Chris McNally and Kevin McGarry about the shocking season 7 cliffhanger, where viewers were relieved to ultimately find Mountie Nathan Grant alive after a gunshot was fired. The actors opened up about the intense final scene, where Elizabeth embraced Nathan as Lucas watched with sadness in his eyes. Of course, they also discussed the most romantic moments of the finale, including Nathan finally asking Elizabeth out and the candle-lit date Lucas planned in the library. Plus, Krakow, McNally and McGarry also shared their excitement about returning to 'When Calls the Heart' for season 8, coming to Hallmark Channel in 2021.

Please have a LONGER SEASON...We need more episodes than just 10 episodes!!! This is a great show and there are so many stories they could tell with a longer season.
We want a longer season for Good Witch and all of the other Hallmark series too. It would be even better to see longer series than to see movie repeats over and over and over again...

I completely agree! I saw an interview with Erin Krakow, Kevin McGarry, and Chris McNally and the interviewer said “Why only 10 episodes? If you had more in the script, would you be willing to do more than 10 episodes?” They all said definitely! Erin said the fans just need to push it so we can make it happen! 😬
When she came on and says we have decided to do season 8 see you next year I was like what damn a year ugh

I hope Elizabeth doesn’t take too long to make a commitment with one of them. It was very devastating waiting for five seasons for her and Jack to marry. It takes a toll my engagement with the show.
Yep. I agree. Especially because Jack was killed off a couple of episodes after the wedding. We never really got to see their relationship flourish as a married couple. I want her to decide in the "first" episode of season 8 and use the Christmas episode to end (for lack of better terms) it with Lucas or Nathan. That way a new potential love interest can be introduced for the one that Elizabeth doesn't pick. Now I think Fiona staying could be a good one for Lucas. I'm team Nathan, but at this point they need to just pick. It's been back and forth for 2 seasons now. It's time to move on from the love triangle.
Totally agree with you. She is the only one whose love interest takes over 2 seasons to flourish. Everyone else’s is shorter. I’m getting tired of it

Hate to say this,but Elizabeths character it’s starting to portray her as a tease. This love triangle is getting tiring and if not decided soon they might jump the shark. Elizabeth just needs to move on.
Whats sad is I think they were begging Jack to stay because he had been iffy for several seasons and I think they thought its either now or never.
After Jack died, I wasn’t going to watch it again...I couldn’t imagine Elizabeth with anyone else until Nathan...I can see why she would be afraid to go there but I think they need each other. They are both parents and they make sense!!

I’m speechless! They could not have had a better “moment” with Nathan and Elizabeth! It was heart warming and so perfect! I’m all team Nathan! And when it comes to Fiona, I’m team Lucas! -Please give us 10+ shows next season.
-Let Lee and Rosemary finally have a chance at parenthood.
-Don't get rid of Henry. Recast Abigail and give them the love story they deserve.
-Let Faith and Dr. Shepard get married and they run the infirmary together.
-Let Fiona run her own phone company with help from Molly and Florence. And give her and Kevin a chance to court.
-Show the newly married Flynns and the struggles and joys of first year marriage.
-Please give Bill a love interest again. He is the papa of all the gals and guys. He deserves love too.
-Give Ned a little more screen time as the town grocer. He is a likeable secondary character. Maybe even some competition for him and the mercantile.
-For all that is good, get the town a mayor so Bill isn't so tied up all the time with the cafe and judge duties.
-And please don't carry out this love triangle for too much longer. It's loosing steam and becoming too drawn out. Whichever Elizabeth picks, make sure he will be a great step dad to baby Jack. And whoever is not picked, let the terms of the "Let down" be kind. No hard feelings. And bring in a new love interest for the one that Elizabeth doesn't pick.

Yes get Lori back...we miss her tremendously. And find a way to bring JACK BACK! Give them the life. they deserve! We all miss that connection and bond! They were the main reason the show pulled me in to watch it....not saying the actors aren't great, they are! But, Elizabeth and Jack showed and taught us so much in life and lessons...my heart was touched and it brought good thoughts and feelings to me..

I find interviews with these handsome guys very interesting. Nathan is so quiet on the show, but in interviews, he's so talkative. Lucas is more vocal on the show, but Chris likes to sit quietly in interviews just looking so handsome! 😍

I've caught myself yelling at the TV at my much loved shows when an emotional moment comes on....but this is the first time I've yelled at the TV during a Hallmark series......they played too much with my emotions last night....it was almost as bad as Jack....and Elizabeth's face....I was shook.....love the Nathan character and I was so excited Kevin joined the cast because I love him as Mitch on Heartland!!

I feel like Lucas needs a person to hire who knows the oil trade. So I wonder if it’s possible that since Fiona is out of a job, she could step in and help Lucas and they could fall in love!

my thoughts exactly! i feel like Elizabeth and Lucas have a friendly relationship they just dont have romantic chemistry while her and Nathan certainly do. I think that if she does choose Nathan it would be really interesting to see Elizabeth struggle with a lot more anxiety about his job and loosing him too. I think that would be a huge final step in Elizabeth moving on from loosing Jack and accepting that she could very well have to go through that grief again but still chooses and pursues a relationship with him because of her feelings towards him.

The writers have tried to make it seem like Fiona and Kevin will be a thing. They are clearly into each other.
I also hope that when all is said and done...that Hallmark would show the same compassion and forgiveness that was shown to Henry Gowen, towards Lori Loughlin, and bring back our beloved Abigail. Everything I've read/heard confirms still what a good heart she has and kind person she is. We all want the best for our children and have made mistakes in that area. I'm sure she has learned from hers...and more forgiveness/grace is needed in this world now.
Henry Gowen is a character, a fiction....but Lori Loughlin, made a crime in real life. Hallmark Company has a code, and will not broke it.

Totally agree! Lori is one doting mom, and with her husband made a mistake! Haven't we all! To top it all, her role as Abigail was all about compassion, kindness and forgiveness!! Next to Elizabeth and Jack, she had a major part in the show! She's very good actress! Hope the WCTH OR HALLMARK people will fond in their HEARTS TO forgive her. I think she has paid in many ways for her mistake and I am hoping they bring her back. We all make mistakes and I hope she is forgiven and given the chance we all deserve a second chance.

I really think Season 7 was excellent and I'm looking forward to the next time we are in Hope Valley! I would love the idea of Lee and Rosemary adopting and they do know of an orphanage in Brookfield (When Hope Calls) that could provide them with a child / baby to love. This couple has LOTS of love to share and will make wonderful parents! I'm also interested to see where Fiona lands since she no longer has a job.

The last episode just blew my mind. It was what I was hoping for all season. Elizabeth belongs with Nathan. For one thing the show was about a school teacher and a mountie. They have so much more chemistry together. Plus we need more than 10 episodes. There are still a lot of stories to be told.

If Elizabeth chooses Nathan I’m not going to watch the show any more. It will be same old, same old. She was already with a Mountie. Also, Nathan is just too needy.
The book is about a school teacher and a mountie. The show stopped being about that the day Jack died.
Lucas' character is the only one putting-himself "out there" . Elizabeth is too afraid, because He is so different from her late husband. But that doesn't make him the wrong choice. She needs different, someone to compliment her and yet challenge her as well.

This is such an awesome show! We can have this playing on TV and don't have to worry about bad words or inappropriate scenes! That's the making of a good show! The entire family can watch and enjoy! This season was great! In our home, we are torn whether Elizabeth will date Lucas or Nathan...lol Love the spinoff show too! In my opinion, one of the best shows on TV right now along with When Hope Calls! HGTV, Disney, and Hallmark stay on in our home..lol! I also agree, let's add more episodes to make the season last longer! Lucas is a smooth operator who I wish I could be like when it comes to the ladies, but I feel like I am more like Nathan's character when it comes to dating! Teach me your ways Lucas! The hole hug scene felt more to me that it wasn't about Nathan but more about Jack. To me, it felt like Elizabeth was tossed back into some sort of flashback, and reacted through some kind of instinct that was still thinking about Jack.
E I agree! I believe receiving the news that “someone” got shot totally took Elizabeth back to when she heard about Jack’s death. This is why she hugged Nathan so tightly...with relief, not necessarily love. I am also wondering if this might influence her decision in the future...like “I can’t go through this again...losing another Mountie that I love...it’s too painful.” This might lead her more towards Lucas. BUT...I AM a “Team Lucas” gal, so I might be a tad bit bias! Lol
I'M TEAM LUCAS ALL THE WAY!! Most of Elizabeth and Nathan's conversations have been geared around Allie. I just don't feel the connection. Plus why did they make me spend ALL season 6 and 7 falling for Lucas and Lizzie only to give her to Nathan?? 😭😭😭

I'm a woman. A wife. I was self made financially. I didn't need or want a man or a relationship. A man moved in next door. OMG 😲 his eyes. Smile. Strength. I fell in love. 5 kids, 14 grand kids later, it's great. Still is. Never got in a triangle or anything else. I love giving love and getting love with my husband and family. I never thought that this would happen to me. NEVER. It did and I'm so glad.

I love both Lucas and Nathan! I don’t know what it is about Lucas, but I really want Elizabeth and Lucas to end up together. My top three reasons: 1. Chris and Erin’s amazing chemistry. 2. I like that he’s not a Mountie. (No offense cause I love Nathan but I see him a little like a knockoff Jack) I like that Lucas is different from Jack. 3. The dinner scene! Anyways while I love Team Lucas, I have a feeling that WCTH is leaning Team Nathan. I am trying to not get my hopes up.

Wow this would be such a great scene. Im glad you also noticed Fiona and Lucas would be good together. I think they have chemistry. Elizabeth and Nathan have a great chemistry indeed! I find it cute during the sleepover scene. I wish they have filmed more of that scene this way viewers get to see more of Nathan's loveable side.
I like the idea of Lucas and Fiona too. I felt something between them when they first met. Fiona and Kevin are just 2 characters on the screen. There's nothing magic between them.
Great news about WCTH will be back for Season 8. I enjoyed listening to the cast members talking about the last episode. I was surprise and happy to see Elizabeth imbrace Nathan when she realize that he is alive. And I would be excited to watch more episodes for Season 8. As long as the budget can make it happen. Looking forward to 2021.

I love all the cast of When Calls the Heart which I recently discovered and watched all 7 seasons in a week? Ten days tops. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make more episodes in each season. I cannot get enough of this story. It reminds me of the way I felt when I watched The Little House on the Prairie when I was young. It just brings me that tranquility to the soul, the warmth, the values which are non existent these days, all this makes you go back and feel good at least while you are watching. So please give us more xx

Nathan has other reasons to be more reserved with Elizabeth. He has Ali. He has to balance what’s best for her and his feelings for Elizabeth. I’m sure as being in the role of essentially a single father, he may be examining his motives to make sure he wants Elizabeth for Elizabeth and not just a mom for Ali. His situation is more complicated than even Jack’s was as a single Mountie and that Lucas’ is now as a single guy, even one with a shady past. Those guys from season 6 were shady. Those won’t be the only guys like that to come out of the woodwork. Elizabeth has a more complicated situation, too, as she is a mom. As to the date, everyone wants and needs to feel special every once in a while. Even if she wasn’t interested in Lucas, she probably felt special. I think this is reflected in the series.

Reading these comments maybe I was the only one who really thought it was possible that Nathan was killed off the show but what I loved about it was that when I watched it was shocking how genuinely I was shocked and devastated when I thought he really died....like I believed he was shot but just probs seriously injured. However, I didn't realize how I felt about Elizabeth and Nathan until that happened. Tears went down my face and was so relieved he wasn't.
Recently, due to my health being in a state of decline I have been looking to find something pleasant to fill my day’s, To compare with the likes of ‘Heartlands’ ‘McLeod’s Daughter’s’ and ‘Outlander’ and I have found it in ‘When Calls The Heart’, it is beautifully written and acted, and isn’t filled with hate and horror, it suites me perfectly Especially in the present disturbing situation! World Wide, so a big thank you to ‘Netflix’ for providing the Perfect Antidote to my dilemma. (And I love Kevin in ‘Heartlands’).

I am all for more than 10 episodes per season...come on Hallmark...give us more...it goes by so quickly and then we have to wait months for the next season...I am still team Lucas all the way...losing Jack was so tough on Elizabeth that it seems like Lucas can provide her with more stability...Nathan is taking too many risks lately and I am not sure she could stand losing another husband to violence...
Some how from the preview I saw a few days ago, I knew that Elizabeth was going to run into someone’s arms and my guess was either Nathan’s or Bill’s. I though that because they say that someone was shot and at that time I only saw Bill and Nathan out in the woods and Bill returns driving the prisoner wagon. Naturally I thought Nathan was shot but I’m glad he wasn’t. I’m also happy to see that he is the one that Elizabeth ran to. I love Lucas but I would love to see him with Fiona.
She obviously likes Nathan she always goes out of her way to be in a good place with him like that is why she told him she went out with Lucas because he asked , kinda of saying if you want me you have to say it.
I'd love to have more episodes a season. I didn't know there could be more or have a say in it as a fan/audience. I'm also so pleased that Fiona is staying. I love her character, her style and spunk.

1.) I’m glad there is a season 8 because I HATE cliffhangers!!!
2.) Elizabeth is really getting herself into a pickle!! They are both great guys, that I am sure, she could be happy with either, BUT leading them both on (i am sure unintentionally because it is huge for her to take the step to a romantic relationship) is only going to make it so much worse off and THEN everyone will be hurting!! 😱😱😱 I am wringing my hands just thinking about how it will turn out!!
3.) I absolutely think they need to add more episodes to the season! Don’t get me wrong I LOVE the other storylines besides Elizabeth but there ends up being no time to explain what is going on with everyone and their plot lines.
4.) I know this is a sensitive subject so I say this with the utmost respect and gentleness; I would like to see Lee and Rosemary accept that fact that they should keep HOPE that one day they could have a baby; but that they could reach out to Grace and Lilian at Brookfield orphanage. They don’t HAVE TOO adopt. But I would like to see them bring it up at least. Besides they are already so close with G and L anyway.
5.)Chris looks like a young pirate with his flowing locks and facial hair 🤩 A cute pirate not a dirty one 🤣

I think Elizabeth and Lucas would be better, he has done so much for her already and if she picked Nathan all of the stuff Lucas did for her would be forgotten. I don't think Elizabeth wants to go through the same thing she did with Jack because the same thing that happened to Jack could just happen to Nathen. Plus Lucas took the time to get to know Elizabeth and looks out for her best interests. Elizabeth has stepped out of her comfort zone since Lucas came into the picture. She seems happier and has more fun. Nathan hasn't gotten the time to know Elizabeth as well as Lucas has. Also when he bought out Henry, I think he is wanting to be more respectful and upstanding.
Nathen and Elizabeth have nothing in common.
Nathan would be better suited with someone bubbly and more energetic, funny, and that could cheer him up.

Then they begin full on with the next season normally at the end of February. However they normally start filming around June or early July. So we don't know...it depends on when they can start filming. They haven't started filming season 8 yet. I hope it doesn't get delayed. They have not filmed any Hallmark movies since the virus stay-at-home mandate began. It will be interesting to see how the fall and winter goes.

I've been watching this series since the beginning. It took at least 3 yrs until Eliz .and Jack married. Either that same season or the next. Jack was killed .

Agreed! I mean, I understand the original series was supposed to be about a teacher and a Mountie, but that ship sailed when they killed Jack. So, for me, no more mounties. I thought the same thing "what if Kevin outgrows the show too?" It's just too much. I feel like Lucas' character has more dimensions to it than Nathan's. Elizabeth can smooth out Lucas' rough edges like Clara did Jessie. And just because Lucas is a saloon owner doesn't mean it has to stay that way. He has the oil biz now so if he and Lizzie get together, just have him sell the saloon to someone else. Plus, for me, the chemistry is between Lucas and Lizzie. Do you see how he looks at her 😍 Their interactions are so much more interesting. And I hate they made me spend season 6 and 7 falling for them two only for her to end up with Nathan 🙄
I really don't feel any electricity between Lucas and Elibabeth, but there are definitely sparks between Nathan and Elizabeth. Hope it goes their way

I'm a "Team Nathan" fan also. I just hope that in Season 8, Elizabeth doesn't try and overthink her Season 7 final reaction to hugging Nathan...flashbacks of Jack returning ok and seeing that red serge again. She fell in love with the traits that made Jack the Mountie he was...and Nathan must have many of those same traits. Yes, he needs to light a few candles also and show a bit more romance within, but I'm hoping we see this and more in Season 8.

Definitely I agree there should be more than 10 episodes. I love all of the characters in the show. You did a phenomenal job of casting and I want to see all of them back next season. I have read most of the comments from your other viewers and they are right on with their suggestions. This is my favorite show on t.v. And I wish there could be more spinoffs from this type of show. It has family values and caring for one another. Keep up the success in writing these Hallmark shows and movies you are doing an amazing job!
Notice in the library scene Elizabeth said I would think that was sweet. Definately not romantic. I don’t see Kevin with Fiona but Fiona and Lucas. I think Elizabeth will be surprised at her reaction to Nathan at the end. It will make her realize that she is ready to choose and has made it.

I think people are looking at this the wrong way. Jack was Elizabeth true love. When he died her heart died with him. Lucas and her might come from the same back round and would he the ideal couple. But on the other hand everyone is saying Nathan is boring. I think Nathan isn't boring at all, I think he didn't want to fall in love with Elizabeth because him as a mountie, knows exactly what Elizabeth went through with Jack. But Elizabeth could have been with anyone but she choose Jack because she fell in love with their differences. Even though Lucas seems to be the perfect guy for her, I still feel that Nathan is actually the person she needs to get over Jack. He may be boring to some of you, But if you actually watch him, He actually is doing the same thing Jack did to win Elizabeth heart. #teamNathan

I can't help feeling that Lucas is the better partner, he did everything he could to help and please Elizabeth. I hope to see more of this in the future episodes. I think just going for the mountie, because he's a mountie and reminds everyone of Jack is not the way to go, Jack was caring, strong and confident, like Lucas.
Nancy Perrier I just think it’s a little too weird for her to end up with another mountie. I don’t believe that if Iwas married to a cop that passed away in the line of duty that I’d be married to another one. And Lucas has gone out of his way to win her heart where Nathan has just worn his heart out on his sleeve. I hope that this is not where they get those two together because I can actually see Nathan as one of the characters that fits with a character on their spin off show .
I totally agree. Jack did a lot romantically for Elizabeth. Encouraged her to write build her a school. He was the king of candles. Lucas picked up Elizabeth's journey with helping her pursue her dreams challenging her to be better. Romancing her. Lucas always make her smile and look happy. He built her a Library. He's great with all the kids. He will know how to support Elizabeth with her book deal. He's patient and kind. He doesn't interfere when Nathan talks to Elizabeth because he wants her to be sure who she loves. His character would be more suited for Elizabeth.
