One of the biggest mistakes McDonald's ever made was getting rid of the original pies. Honorable mentions:
McDLT & McRib
And switching from beef tallow on their fries! Only eat there a couple times a year, but man, it is good!

lol in hawaii they serve fried apple pies. I tried the baked ones in cali, our fried apple pie in hawaii cant ever beat it

It's been a few years since I was there but they still had the deep fried pies in Europe and Australia.
loved the fried pies back in the day, when a new store opened up late 90s early 2000s the new store had the fried pies at only 2 for a buck and man did we go and buy at least 10 to 20 of em daily to get that sweet special pie... only for a full year later for them to swap em out and go to those nasty baked pies that all the rest have, once they went to the new ones i tried one and said forget it they just dont taste good at all, glad hardees still has a similar pie that is fried and still tastes just wonderful
Hawaii McDonald's still deep fries the non-cream filled pies. My favorite is when they have blueberry!

i grew up with the baked pies. i like them better than fried.
It is tough to know whether to eat the container or the contents to get the best flavor.

No one eats apple pies thinking they are healthy so why they changed to the baked version I still wonder. The fried version was so much better and they still fry them in other parts of the world. In Japan they even offer didn’t fillings.

The fried pie was better in in the 80s when I was little he used to have a glaze icing on it do anyone remember that
Back before anyone was concerned about Y2K, friend was complaining about a cherry pie that had only 1 (as in one) cherry. Thinking it was a mistake and wouldn't happen again he purchased another one. He was right, it was an error. The second one didn't have any cherries at all.

Well this is not the case in most other countries, like most countries in Europe or Asia, we only know them (also always other varieties and specials) as deep fried pies

Okay so... Please don't think I'm weird after reading this.
The fried apple pie was discontinued in 1992... At that point I would have been 3 years old. However... For some strange reason I have this foggy memory of trying the fried apple pie with my former stepmother. Which is technically impossible... Because my stepmom didn't come into my life until the later part of 1999.
Has this ever happened to anyone before? Like where you think you've tried something and later you realize oh wait that's impossible... I wasn't born yet or something like that? ( With any food item.)
Or am I just a weirdo? Feel free to be honest I genuinely want to know that I am not alone. 😂💯
