      Just like the privatization of our prisons, energy companies and military? At least people are getting help, and can hopefully get employed to pay for their own apartment. If people are tired of seeing homeless people on the streets then this is what it takes.

      @@nayandhir5910 Food stamps and EBT were never meant to feed the poor. They were given out to subsidize the big food conglomerates. Fast food meals and sugary sodas to add to free medical care from eating a poor diet. When the breadwinner in our family was downsized a few years ago and lost medical insurance, Obama FINED us at a time we couldn't spare money paying the bills. And our fine went to give free medical care to others who did not contribute to society, and now to the undocumenrted. A travesty.

      Nobody really has to live in California. The cost of living in the Dakotas and Nebraska, including a roof over one's head, is much more reasonable there. Plenty of work there, too. Most folks don't like the winters, though.

By and large, the regulatory structure there is more accommodating for businesses that create jobs and for developers who seek to build single-family homes and rental properties.

    I hope the people that really need the units get them. Mandatory mental health & drug/alcohol counseling for those who need it should be required to remain a tenant. I hope this brings some resolution to the problem but the 600k per unit seems a bit 🤨

    This is better than being on the streets but I’m furious that these people are getting fully furnished apartments for free . Not for free from my income taxes.

    I'm curious: If homeless people find employment and get back on their feet, will they need to move out or start paying rent? If they live rent-free, wouldn't that discourage some from wanting to work and instead choose to stay in a nice apartment without paying?
