Great video that really helped me.
1) Necessarily (if S knows that p, then p)
it does not follow that
2) If S knows that p, then necessarily p.
To think otherwise is to commit the modal fallacy of confusing the necessity of the consequence, no?
This is the argument:
P1: God's will is unchanging and necessary (since it is identical to His unchanging necessary essence).
P2: What God wills is determined by the way God's will *is.*
P3: Creation exists because God wills it to exist, and it cannot exist unless God wills it.
P4: By virtue of the will being unchanging and eternally the same, God has unchangeingly willed that creation should exist from all eternity.
P5: Whatever God unchangeingly wills from all eternity is necessarily going to occur (i.e. it is unavoidable).
Conclusion: Creation was necessarily going to occur unavoidably because God has unchangeingly willed it from all eternity to do so.
@@dubbelkastrull C2 This universe is necessary the way it is. Everything in this universe is necessary and could not have been another way. Run the exact same argument for everything in this universe and you will get everything is necessary and could not have been another way.
