  • Join me on this adventure while I use my special homemade tool the under water scope to help spot chunky gold on bedrock. I'm gold prospecting on my local creek near Portland Oregon in the Southern Cascades. Using light weight and inexpensive tools to clean and pick apart bedrock. I also run a drop riffle sluice box for the first time ever. Follow along while I recover chunky gold!

  • @mralexpawlik
    @mralexpawlik Před 2 lety +1

    so for your sluice, you put it 100% in the stream, but as far as i have learned what you should do is for every 1 foot of length of sluce the end should sit 1 inch higher above the water i could be wrong share some logic ?

    • @prospectingforadventure
      @prospectingforadventure  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah it was my first time running that drop riffle and there generally is much gold in the gravels so I did a quick setup. The rule I've heard is 1 inch drop for every foot. I personally haven't heard anything about a certain amount above water. I personally adjust a sluice until I see an exchange of lights and heavies that I've satisfied with. Faster water can run at a shallower angle and slow water has to run at a steeper angle.

      @@prospectingforadventure thank you for that info, yeah going back over the info that i came across it is 12/1 but he was also in verry shallow water so one inch up was was above the water he was using at the time. thank you for the respoce so qick on that im glad i didnt sound like i was belittleing you i was a bit worried about that i just was wanting some wisdom to pass along and use thank youagain. may your pans be full of flower gold o7
