SUMMARY
Germination is the start of growth of a plant from a seed. It’s that first stage where the seed sprouts to become a seedling.
Inside a seed is a plumule which will go on to become the first plant shoot and a radicle which will form the first root. Seeds also have cotyledons which act as a food store for the new plant until it’s able to carry out photosynthesis. They also have a seed coat which forms a protective layer.
For germination to happen, seeds require water, oxygen and a warm temperature.
This is really well made, you have a good audio setup, and your visuals aren't laggy or too visually busy, I have attention issues & this is good for both watching and listening to, great job with the video man! You also have a good speaking voice and a cool accent it's cool that I we get to learn science from all around the world and from my little slice of earth I just wanted to show you some appreciation for taking the time to make and share this content!
I love how you use real plants to show what your explaining! This is very helpful thank you.
As a Bio teacher I salute you
I am currently working on an assignment about a plant's life cycle and this video helped me a ton, thanks!
I searched so many videos but couldn't understand what a cotyledon is ..now I do..thank u
just the best youtube teacher i love how he explains everthing you just make eve thing easy thxx
A quick tip if you want to remember it easily just think of WOW: Water, Oxygen, and warmth
Woooow😂❤
This is a gem - look forward to using this with my high school group. Thank you!
Thanks brother! Couldn't help but do a jig at the beginning and the end. One Love! God Most High bless
the jamming music in the intro. love.
Very impressive explanation and easy to understand. Thumb up!
Thanks! You explained it like a pro
Answered all our questions. Thanks.
Thank You so much for understanding me the structure of seed and also germination

Very good explanation ❤.... Thank you 😊
Still the best Biology teacher I know, thank you so much for your teachings Sir I truly respect you 😇🙏🏻
Thank you very much for this video. That is a great help for me. I was so confued after learning some other videos which included the facts that are not the same what I've learnt but your video made my doubt clear. I really appreciate.💓
BRAVO!!!
Thank you so much ❤you really helped me
Thank you so much. ❤
This is helping me a.ot with my studies, but i made a mistake it is not worm temperature but "suitable temperature* . Not all seeds need worm temperature, for some plant grow in exreamly cold environments, the temperature has to be suitable meaning the temperature must be what that type of seed is used to, yes different temperatures can work for example with plants that grow in cold environments they can germinate in worm temperature, after they have adapt to the new environment, which whout cause pause in the germination process, resulting in a slower growth. Also not all seeds can adapt new environmental temperatures.
I know in the video you said that not all of them are correct but i just wanted to make a statment to better help other or even yourself. Well thank you again this video help my very much and is deffinetly making my grade 9 agriculture class easier.
bros a life saver
True
True af 😂😂😂

Onggg
Fr
Thank you so much.. Well explained... ❤❤
Thx for helping my student
I love it keep going ❤❤❤
Excellent!
BRILLIANT LECTURE.👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks
Is this true even for incredibly tiny seed such as Snapdragons' seeds?
You are great but what is epicotyl and hypocotyl
Thanks bro I appreciate your video 👏
Bro what is main difference between endosperm and cortilidon
thanks for the lessons
Tysm, i forgot this topic from my syllabus but now maybe i wont fail tmr
The best explanation ever
Well explained
What is the purpose of this activity or experiment?
Thank you🌸
It so beautiful 😍
Lovely, thank you very much, but can't we say that oxygen in the water molecule is enough for the seed to germinate?
No, the O in H2O is not available as oxygen for respiration. There is dissolved oxygen in water, however, which is available to living organisms (this is how fish “breathe”).
@@Science_Sauce Thank you for your reply and for the great content you make... I just want to know one more thing, I am interested in finding out about the essential elements to the human body with respect to the growth of plants from the seed content until it starts germinating and throughout the growth process, like malting for example, what do you suggest I should go for? Biochemistry? or other courses maybe? and thank you very much for the advice.🤍
So helpful
Thank you
Can you talk about the "seeds don't need sunlight" exception?
they don’t have green leaves and can’t photosynthesize but they do need light to break dormancy
Thank you my tough brain understood
Thanks sirr
Part of this video is incorrect. As a very well known germination process is putting seeds on a damp piece of paper towel, putting it in a ziplock bag, and placing it in the refrigerator. So the 'warm temperature' is also not needed.
I like the video and also cleared all my doubts but I have a doubt about cotyledon.
What's the difference between cotyledon and endosperm?
Damn ...i have same doubt
I think the cotyledon contains the embryo while the endosperm is the part that provides food and nutrients while the seedling develops.
@@idunno6158 thanks dude
Bro what is hilum?
Super
My mom homeschooling me
Ok 😭
i have a question..why a seed can still germinate if we put them in a ziploc bag as they need oxygen?
😢
I guess not because it needs o20
Yes but the question is how does seed know when it has to germinate or sprout ,how does it know is has been placed in soil and why dosent it grow in our stomachs
When water enters the seed through a part called the micropyle. This allows the chemical reactions to begin. They can’t grow in our stomachs because they don’t have time (they pass through quickly) and stomach acid would prevent growth.
Bro, so we can germinate seeds in dark place?? Or we can closed growing media with mulsa plastics?
Awesome
bro cooked so well
It's a bean seed..what about other seeds like pepper seeds
You are perfect human being wow great 😃👍 vedio wow 🎉🎉❤
Great
Do plant still need oxygen after Germination?
Seed take water air and warmth to germinate by the way it is good video
Tommorow is my exam and I had doubts regarding seed and u helped me very much. Pin me plz
This is nice for children
What type of seed plant is this
A kidney bean
Tap root system, fibrous root system
Thank you so much sirrr
Woooow
Thanks a lot
Thanks very much grade 12 bilogy place
Tnkz a lot ❤️
🤓🤓
What is the embryo 😅
Wait than what about the endosperm?
thanks
WELL EXPLAINED
Thanks!
3:50 Oxygen?
People do soak grass seed in buckets for multiple days, with only pulling them out temporarily to change the water, thus no oxygen. Success is usually seen with a very small root poking out of the seed from this process. Then the seeds are distributed to the soil.
This is usually called pre-germination, but may be a misnomer. Video says germination is start of growth, so if that's with the root starting to poking out, then this process proves no oxygen required to that point.
Oxygen is essential for germination. Two things to note: the seed can swell and the seed coat will burst as a result of water uptake (even in absence of oxygen) but no growth can occur if oxygen is absent. Second, there is dissolved oxygen in water and so initial growth/germination may occur for some species if immersed in water. The statement that “air is needed for germination” is commonly quoted but not strictly true, though the statement that “oxygen is needed for germination” is true.
@@Science_Sauce Thanks for taking the time to reply. Possibly there is oxygen consumption from the water. I originally tried to imagine that, and didn't think possible.
I'm 27 and I've just learned this, makes me feel like an idiot lol! Thanks.
really? i’m 9
You explained what a seed is, what it looks like, and what it does with the proper ingredients. You did NOT explain HOW. HOW does this happen. (Mk. 4:27)
thanks 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

I’m getting a Scottish vibe with the accent…… but then I’m like sounds like Leeds….
Sorry it’s a weird comment
Right between the two… I’m a Geordie.
They need warmth oxygen and water to germinate
AC loved this video very informative thank you. :)
