Backpedaling while using ranged basic attacks is quite effective for trading if the enemy isn't aware of a very minor mechanic, also an easy trap to fall into, moving forward and attacking actually makes the attack fall off shorter whereas moving backward lets the enemy walk into the shot. To be clear it isn't reducing the range its just moving changes where the projectile is going to hit. The range of an attack is where is originates not where the player currently is, so moving backwards kind of increases the range if the enemy is moving towards you. Had several games where I kept hitting the hunter while their attacks were just shy of connecting. It is a small thing but can make a huge impact. So range attack while backpedaling when the enemy is chasing and don't chase if the enemy is backpedaling while attacking, you usually can't win that trade.
or just play medusa
Hey Intersect, you should make more tips and tricks/guide style videos on different topics like positioning, counter building, picking good team comp, etc. These types of videos are really helpful
As a new player I second this. 😅
As an experienced player, I enjoy all of his content and enjoy watching these videos regardless of how much it does or doesn’t help my gameplay
@@karenmorrell9301 I’m a diamond player but there are so many little things I still don’t know
and how to body block the basic attack hits as supp so you win time fights
@@jacobrichards7120 well your experienced so your opinion I’m that matter doesn’t matter
on the backpedal/strafing penalty note, to get around this, instead of backpedalling, literally just turn around and walk forward. same with strafing, just turn 90 degrees and move forward, or you can do what i did and just main medusa for 9 seasons.
First tip: look at the dang map.
Please people, pay attention to where your teammates are. Especially if people are putting down wards.
And especially if you're the frontline initiator. For goodness's sake, check that your teammates are actually close enough and capable of reaching the fight you're initiating. I can't believe how many times the Warrior get's angy at where everyone is, while maybe other's have just backed for items or respawned, or in the middle of objectives, and the dude just goes into a 1v5 without team awareness.
Always blame your teammates, never accept blame.
Your welcome
Perfect
Absolutely more tips please. This stuff is so good for filling tiny holes even regular players have and for really helping new people who are often feeling overwhelmed by everything involved in learning to play Smite.
Really nice for me as a player coming back after some time playing League mainly
Great video, I agree with everything, except for the part about making your map bigger. You can see more information when the target image is a bit smaller. An exaggerated analogy is when you go to the cinema and sit in the front. You'll see the details of the sides, especially, a bit harder, compared to the people in the seats above. Thanks for the video, can't wait for more like this!
The map being bigger can make you see more clearly though, where exactly your enemies or allies are, and what path they’re taking. That can be really helpful, especially in Conquest. I personally make it larger than default, but not max size.
Good video!
Do you happen to already have a guide vid about proper positioning? That could be a very useful one, if you don't already have one.
I agree with putting your map closer to the center, i dont agree with making it bigger, i actually make it smaller than default. I found that making the map bigger makes my eyes dart around the map instead of having it smaller lets me look at the map with just my peripherals. Meaning that i can basically look at duo and solo at the same time.
you couldn't pay me to put my map in the center of the screen
Me who doesn't have a map 🤡
@@doomanime61 so your who goes for the fire giant at 1min into the game
My map is right next to my character
@@DarkChibiWeebie
Ah sadly. When I started playing this game couple months ago, the ppl in Conquest were too much toxic on me and reported me for being new to the game. I never touched Conquest since that day... I only play Arena and I'm happy here
@@doomanime61just get better
Thank for yhe content you have helped me so much i watched you roles guide, and it helped so much and made me like the game sl much more cause it made it simpler.

Fortunately I do most everything mentioned here despite being newer within the last 10 months. Though I don't think I'll be placing my map in the near mid of my screen since I like seeing what's going on in front of usually. Good tips to know, thanks!
The strafing while basic attacking especially boxing in duo is a big one. I deff do way too much. Also not using abilitys as soon as their available. good tips, you rock Intersect cancel that.
5th tip helped me a lot
I have an question, in smite changes it says: “so if you have 25% mitigation from items, then used baron’s ult and gain 35% mitigation, you will actually have 35%, not 60%”
“Osiris passive is not affected”
I really dont get it, im a Cthulhu Main, so if i have Cthulhu passive at his max (30%) and have an 12% ítem mitigation
If i ult i will NOT have 42% mitigation, i will have 30% mitigation?
Thank you for saying #2, I am sick of people coming into my stream ragging on me for not using basic attacks as a Mage
really useful
Can you make a video talking about more counters in smite, either soft or hard.
I have over 700 hrs, and only for the last 100-200 have I felt decent at the game, at least on main roles. All of these are things I can do better at, and I actually just found my ideal map opacity today. More tips like these please.
What’s your ideal map opacity?
Tip #6: misspell things in the thumbnail to increase engagement
One tip I have:
Check what your team is building, not just the enemy.
Had many cases where teammates build the same item with an aura that doesn’t stack. So it generally became a waste of a passive in team fights. Or cases where their item’s passive was completely useless.
Or cases where teammates were building anti heal against a comp that only had one character that could self sustain and wasn’t even building items to make said healing more potent.
Also had a few cases where supports and mids didn’t understand that divine ruin anti heal isn’t an aura. So the antiheal would still apply even if pestilence or contagion aura was active. So supports thought they couldn’t build pestilence or contagion while mids thought they couldn’t build divine ruin.
Well I just need a better pc. Playing with 9 FPS on my laptop toaster hurts my eyes
I can relate. I wonder how much my gameplay will improve when my FPS goes from "art gallery" to actually decent.
For some reason I still don't feel like I'm struggling too much - except if the game has a Gilgamesh.
@@Akwatypus Same. I'm still the 20/5 Ullr or 20/5 Thanatos whatever with that low amount of FPS. I guess I'll hit my 1 more often on them though
@@spauy It's going to be a trip when we suddenly have to unlearn our compensation from bad FPS. I really cannot predict how the aiming and boxing will change, lol.
@@Akwatypus imagine you don't have to aim where the enemy is in like 1,5 seconds 🙈😨
We are missing everything xD
The second suggestion of not over autoing to much on mages is a good tip but....for the love of God please string some autos in if you can on mages in the early game it' can be the difference between 1st blood for you or the enemy.
Yeah I feel like this tip should have been explained better people already don't auto on mages even though spl pros definitely think you should when you can.
Finna send this to my buddy lmao
Awesomesauce
the lack of teamwork in this teambased strategy game makes my heart ache
me watching this video with over 6,000 hours in SMITE: "hm, very interesting." Nice video, Inters3ct.
Lmao nice I have 500 hours, started like a year ago. Just a casual player right now, but I'm having a ton of fun getting my a** kicked in duel right now. I'll beat em someday :)
How can i improve when my mid goes 0-4 and afks after 10 mins
More videos like this!!!!
Wards and buying antiheal is a must, I hate when you’re a sustain comp and your teammates won’t buy antiheal lol
Im level 149 dont play ranked and adc main and i main clash rip slash but these very ver helpful ill use them thank you very much
🔥🔥🔥
Personally, I like my map a little smaller, lower, and have the map right next to my character. It helps more then you'd think.
Question, how are you 180-ing quickly? Is it a PC thing?? I play on PS4.
He still uses a controller he just has his sensitivity higher
"Dont overuse auto attacks on guardians"
Laughs in Hastened Ring Ymir
After playing smite for a long time it's made realise how spoilt I am for being able to change the whole ui and also how much I wish other games used the vgs system for when I don't want to use my mic
Map is always important, but so many player just straight up ignore it.
Cool now the enemies will live on 1hp even more than they do now cuz people already think that autos are useless on made even though they can make a difference between a kill and not. Learned that from ven that you should definitely auto when you can as a mage in between abilities
4:45 lol
advanced tips would be cool.
got any tips for a solo warrior keeps getting ranged by mages in solo lane? Those guys just make it impossible to get close enough to hit them and range game is ridiculous being as no warrior can close the gap...hades so cheap especially. Lets just say making the overall experience not fun and more of chore to play and after long day at work i want to relax and play game and have fun...but at this point just seeming like a chore/work...need some nerfs and buffs again and looking like time for an update.
But when is more randomizer coming
Is there 5 simple tips to keep the game from random randomly turning into a PowerPoint it got so bad I just stopped playing

Just here to point out the "imrpove" on thumbnail
Ranked joust tips be nice for solo que player
I want time and dedication tips though lol
Why no more ranked games I liked those vids legit the only ones I watched
Big tip don't use his ui it's disgusting
Your UI kinda pog. Might adapt it for my personal use but I like the positioning of the ally/enemy gods
Tip 5 🔥
My teammates: There's a mini map in this game??? 🤦🏼♂️
😂😂 All these tips are solid, but please please please like this video for tip number five alone. This concept NEEDS to be shared more so these lobbies improve. Lol
you left out the most important tip: BUY WARDS
noice
need merlin guide, I got a skin for him and i suck
Just a tip, ranked is not where you go to learn, it's where you go to see how good you are. I see alot of people playing ranked "to get better" but that isnt how it works
at a certain point you need to get into ranked to play with people better than you and learn from them, obviously only when you feel already confident in your casual matches
That's only a tip for new players, in casuals you get to a point where you HAVE to go play ranked to train and get better, you can't play seriously on casuals to "train" when matchmaking puts you with people that isn't even lv30 and feeds non-stop.
I have played smite off and on and its currently the only game my friends play but I am quite terrible at it. If I did not buy the god bundle I would have started a new account to try and relearn the game but ya... I think that is a main reason I avoid it currently, I took a long break, know next to nothing about it but do not want to start from the beginning again because I do not want to need to unlock something I already paid for and that idiotic line of thought is literally causing me to avoid it entirely...
You could make a new account just for like 10 games to get the hang of things and switch back. I also have a Conquest guide on the channel that covers everything you need to know, even the basics if that would help you get back into it!
God ever since the vido that points out how bad his UI is, i cant unsee it and it hurts
Imrpove
Tip number 1: PLACE YOUR FUCKING WARDS.
why does your screen look so weird i haven’t played since 2016 but god damn 😂
that’s why 😭
1 more tip: get some good rng
The subtle diamond ix chel flex
Bro your UI
At the end of the video I realized your UI layout is very weird.
I was like #667
So basically don’t do basic attacks and don’t use your abilities.. got it🙄
More like know when to use them, I usually use basic attacks for taking out minions.
A big tip I would give: Unless an ability requires precise aiming, put it on instant cast. Trust me, this makes everything 10x easier.
I'm a quick cast gamer myself. Only fractions of a second slower than instant with the option to precise aim if necessary. Only on instant for a few specific cases like susano and ullr
@@Inters3ct Same here. I want the comfort of being able to aim if I want to aim, or cancel if I want to cancel. Stuff like AOE around character, Chang'e immunity etc can (or _should_ ) go on instant cast though.
Disagree I play Arthur on normal cast and never ever ever lose.
WTF is that hud?!?
i can't find anyone playing this game on my region T__T
Tip #6
Avoid the UI demonstrated in the video above
pro tip dont use this ui layout
Another really important tip that helps your team and does not require any skill .
- Say when enemy is missing in your lane you can literally save your teammates life just with this.
Simple tip: just dont play ranked
Nice try but im not trusting anything anyone with a UI layout like that says
Heres 2 tips I will gladly share as a diamond 4 player. Get WARDS AND COMMUNICATION! Im sick and tired of these adcs and mids saying "too expensive" for wards. So at NO point in this 50 minute game you never had more than 50 gold? Also for talking, I understand not everyone has a mic but guess what. You are using a keyboard. Text! Its not difficult
Well, the issue is that you have to literally stand still when you type, which wastes time that could have been spent farming, or could make you a sitting duck for the enemy. The worst thing that can happen is when teammates start arguing and they type wayyy too much
@@MutedAndReported3032 so type faster. Learn the keyboard. It's a useful skill in the real world. Plus moving your fingers faster will guarantee your girlfriend will be happy
Step one: play rank
Step two: Play hunter
Step three: hold R2
Step four : Win
Easiest guide to get to grandmaster
Damn what I'm gonna do on pc with keyboard
I don't have an r2 button 😢😢
I kinda stopped listening after hearing "Smite is a complex game"
YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SPEAK ABOUT HUD LAYOUTS
Helpful tips, too bad the players are dumb enough to not adopt your tips
At this point it be better just to punish players for bad performance.
