The player actors are as follows, Willie mays Hayes is Kenny Lofton, Jake Taylor is Gary Carter, Roger Dorn is Gary Gaetti, Jo Boo is Carlos Delgado, Eddie Harris is Gaylord Perry, wild thing is Mitch Williams in real life, and the great Bob Ueker lol.
Here in Canada, our version of ESPN is TSN and they have a sports talk show that has an annual "Lou Brown" awards thing they do. Just another homage to this classic film that has achieved a permanent cult status among sports fans.
Strangely, the majority of the home stadium baseball scenes, and much of the street and indoor scenes were filmed in Milwaukee. It's a great film for Indians fans, but here in MIlwaukee, it's a favorite also. They hired locals for the fans and had to turn away thousands for the stadium scenes. They even had try-outs with local players, a few making the filming cast. I drove past the old Milwaukee Country stadium every morning on my way to work, and for that summer there were hundreds of cars in the parking lot every morning, and late afternoon.
Wisconsin and I did. Especially because of Uecker and old County Stadium, where I saw my first MLB game and Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant in a steel cage. Any wrestling fans will know but Bobby Heenan in a promotion for the 1988 bout, joined Bob Uecker for an inning or two and any kid of the 80s know there isn't 2 more off the cuff funny guys anywhere

The owner of the Oakland A's used this movie as a business model.

I was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and the humor of this movie is easier to get and appreciate.

Been looking for this! Love Aaron Boone
This is from 2005/2006
All these behind the scenes shows on 'ML' nobody brings up the real character they based Harris on - Gaylord Perry.
To the people of Cleveland out there. Do you love this movie.
Jersey here and absolutely love this movie.
This is the best thing that’s happened to the franchise since they won the World Series in 1948 lmao
